- In this Video we get an impromptu night out in an old forest park, this park has long been closed apart from the odd forestry work and is now only the frequented by cyclists and the odd dog walker. I have had great memories at this park as a child and the nostalgia of finally camping here was nice. It was a relatively long hike in, so we just had a quick fire and food before bed. The highlight of the trip was some fried spam!
I also shared some of the modification I made to the Lavvu and also how I keep my knives sharp in the field.
leave no trace?
Great spot....love to try there sometime. The mods are a great job lads. Great wee video.
Adding a skirt really give you a lot more floor and head space. Good Job on the Mods.
Daniel Charbonneau thanks for the kind comments, the skirt really does make a world of difference
Wer did u get the material for the skirts
I found it on Ebay, 6oz Waxed Canvas, it is quite a light canvas.
Another great video ,the poncho mods make good shelter a great shelter 👍
that looks a class wee place
How much does it weigh with all the mods? Nice vids thanks for sharing.
Just over 7kg all in. It’s not a light beast!

In this video I do some more comparisons with the original.
Thanks:)
Great content , subbed, like the mods to the lavuu, great stuff.
Thank you for the kind comments I’m glad you enjoyed, I have subbed you back and look forward to a wee watch!
@@WildCampingNI Likewise bro, thx very much !!
Can you still put a stove in the mod lavvu?
Yes David, actually have a video to upload soon of a wee trip had this winter. Two of us and stove in the lavvu.
@@WildCampingNI excellent thank you,did you do all the modifications yourself
I did indeed David just a normal household sewing machine,
Great video lads nice Lavvu and camp loom forward to seeing more!
Nice job with the lavvu mods. Did you use a lavvu to get the extra material for the mod? I have a size 1 Polish lavvu but it is far two small to be comfortable. Atb Ian.
Crazybear Kaiser Ian, I did buy extra old ponchos for this exact reason, but I struggled to get the near 8’meters required. What I did in the end was I bought 6oz waxed canvas off eBay, I was concerned of the colour contrast originally, but it grew on me.
what about trying that with ripstop to keep the weight down?
That’s an option, but the whole Lavvu is not the lightest, and I’m happy to keep this shelter to short walks and canoe / bike camping especially when paired with a stove. I really like the canvas feel.
Where is the camp spot?
It’s a forest up the North Coast.
