Brought back fond memories for me watching this film back when me and my mates would be out and about on our Choppers and Grifters in the late 70's up and around Govilon, Clydach Gorge and Llanelly Hill riding along the old railway line up as far and in to the tunnels.
    Thank you for the film...

That was really interesting, thanks for posting. Glad you got into the tunnels but shame about the road at the end, lol.

Aha, yeah I guess I didn't see the best of Brynmawr, seemed to be a huge building site along with huge mountains of rubble & concrete.

That tunnel and the rough part after it at 9:32 that’s not part of the cycle route is it?

Recognised all of the bit up to Gilwern station. There's a bit just after though, if memory is right, that's been bought privately and is inaccessible to the public. Haven't been on the old track for a few years. Getting creakier! Got an ex old lady scooter, which I intend to modify a bit, and off we go again. Getting on the path at the top end is a mystery at the moment. A cheeky question. Do you walk with a bit of a limp? Really enjoyed the video. Thanks.

sandpit72 hi mate great video again. I was thinking of walking this with the mrs but wondering about the gated tunnel? Can you get through without climbing?

how shortsighted local authourities can be, locals and road users have had to put up with this insane destruction of the landscape for far too long. aAll they had to do is reinstate the railway and releave the amount of traffic on the old road. No need for the abomination thats there now.

I agree with you mate. The A465 road can be heavy congested and with more people relying on trains in South Wales then the railway should be reinstated. That would have saved costs of construction of new roads.
The only issue is the line could not reconnect with the main line at Abergavenny as there is a supermarket, industrial estates and houses on the trackbed from Govilon to Abergavenny although a new station can be built at Govilon for those travelling to Brynmawr and Merthyr Tydfil from Abergavenny. From anywhere they can change at Cardiff.
