Having a survey on your boat is like buying a car with an mot it's worth every penny if you can take notice of the work on the engine so you know what's going on all the best Doug
When I saw you riding your new scooter it made me smile 😊 I don’t think you could have smiled any harder! It’s good that you got the survey on the boat because it gives you a starting point for the projects on the boat. When your finished you can be confident that the boat will be safe. So happy 4 you! I’m looking forward to seeing the future projects as you share them! Mark in Colorado 🇺🇸
Hi Mark thanks for your comment! I agree now I have a list to work through starting with the engine! You’re right about having a safe boat it’s good to have confidence in the vessel! 😊
That's alot of work to be done. Shot blasting is expensive and two pack. Stern gland and engine out plus full service. Thousands I'd say but great looking boat and if the price comes down to cover the costs that's all the better.
Just read a response to a post looks like a price has been quoted of 8 to 10 grand but not a definite number yet as still to investigate. At least score is known I assume before finalising purchase 😊
Hi Kayleigh got to say the report is not that bad engine mounts perish over time so not to bad the cut less bearing can be a bit trick to replace then it’s all plain sailing, the pits in the hull are to be expected over a period of time easily put right but time consuming,in all as I’m not sure how old the boat is ,I personally don’t think the report is to bad ,I hope you allowed this in the price of the boat when you brought it ,glad to see you are still smiling, take care keep safe,John 🌹🥂❤️🌈👀🌺
Thanks for the video. I'm looking at a boat this week and ur issues with the boat have been really helpful. I will definitely be getting a survey. I hope you enjoy ur time on the water.
@@LiveaboardLifestyle Hi, I had a look at the boat but too small for me. The more boats I look at the more I rule out what doesn't work for me and what does. Apparently several offers have been put in on the boat I looked at so it will go this week. I remember hearing that you will know the boat is right when u step aboard . Was this the case for you ?
Another great video and still amazed at how you take everything in your stride. The E Scooter looks like great fun and I’m sure will prove to be very useful. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Thank you Brian. There’s a definite amount of stress that goes on behind the camera but I have a very good support system in place to help with the challenges. It’s awesome I love it. So far have carried coal and emptied cassettes with it 😊
When you read it it sounds like a lot but it's pretty minor stuff really, the good news is it should drive smoother when everything's aligned correctly. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Kayleigh. 👋 bumped into you today, and I have to say, you are an absolutely lovely lady. You are so easy to chat to, I'm just sorry we kept you so long. Great vlogs 👌 keep them coming 👍x
Fingers crossed that all goes well today. Worn mounts cause excessive vibrations which can wear out bearings and this is also probably a good time to have the stuffing box re-packed if it'd still dripping. Good advice regarding epoxy blacking as you have to blast the hull to weld the pits and for the slightly extra expense of the twin pack paint would mean not having to be lifted out of the water for 5-7 years so worth the extra. You're doing well. Love the new toy and the smile it created but maybe consider a helmet and gloves 😉
Hi Kayleigh, wow, you do like living in adventures life, don't you? You listed issues for the boat and still have smile on your face, well done, your positivity is so inspiring... I love that scooter, can you sometimes give a lift to your two babies? They are so cute!!!
Your doing things the right way you have survey done when you buy a house so this is good. Like the scooter but i think little doggy is trying to get on while your using it. Most things just sound wear & usage faults so nothing wrong there. Good luck & take care.
That scooter looks fun. I used to love mine as a kid. Of course it was leg propelled! I’m wondering if an electric one will suit me! Are you able to ride it on the towpath. I realise that’s probably what you got it for but does anyone complain because it’s electric?
How much will all this cost you? And how much was the boat, and the survey? I'm looking at a boat tomorrow and it would be really helpful to understand more about these kind of prices.
Hi Sarah approximately £8-10k for the repairs although until we start it’s hard to say for definite as you don’t know until you take something apart. How exciting good luck looking at boats! 😊
@@LiveaboardLifestyle that’s a fair bit of work for sure and not surprised at the hefty repair costs. Have you come to a amicable agreement with the previous owners about these costings? Or do you have to suck this up? Did they get a survey on your original boat? If so, what was the outcome of that?
How old was the boat and how many hours had the engine done please and the length and width of the boat.? Sounds like you do what you can on a boat and that's ideal as I am trying to get a good idea of what is involved in running a boat. I am seriously considering getting a boat, so apologies for all the questions.
2007 is the age of the boat. Engine house unknown as it has had a new control panel. No problem on the questions I will do a costs vlog in the future 😊
@@LiveaboardLifestyle Thanks so much Kayleigh, I really would appreciate that as it really does look to be a great way of life . Saying that though I am fully aware that there must be some things you have to do that are not so good ! The other thing as far as I am concerned is that it's going to be crewed by only one person, ME ! Luckily I don't work, I retired some time ago so I am not restricted by time in any way. I know any info you could share with me is going to be very useful to me so please feel free to say whatever comes to mind. Thank you Kayleigh.
Nice video, buy you do know that e-scooters are not legal for use on public footpaths, roads or in any public areas currently within the UK. Th police can sieze them and fine the user because they were using essentially an unregistered vehicle. Nice scooter though.
From one of your videos it seems you go into work several times a week (hope I'm remembering that correctly). How do you combine that with continuous cruising - surely it must reduce your cruising radius?
Hey I’m not in the office much anymore so it doesn’t really affect the cruising radius. Since COVID most of my work is remote! Thanks for your comment 😊
So thought you were gonna run over your little doggie at the end then. Something you said piqued my interest, having a full survey in your name for insurance purposes. Dors this make a difference to insurance? Having it in your name rather than say a previous owners?
Lol no they always run in front I’m good at dodging them now! Hehe I’m not sure exactly just I know a number of insurers prefer a survey done when purchasing the boat. I guess you’re covered if anything was to go wrong.

Hi John good to see you! It’s not too bad all fixable 😊
Good you can afford the get the jobs done. The 2 pack epoxy is a very good idea, and the work on the engine is also good before more go's wrong.
I think so couldn’t end up costing a lot more down the line if it’s not fixed soon!

Hi Kayleigh, would it not be better to buy a new engine?
Hi Clive no a new engine would be around £10,500 where as the repairs are around £2,500 😊
