    • @Voltaic_Fire
      @Voltaic_Fire Рік тому +4

      It is hard to justify a carrier when fighters seem somewhat anemic and fragile in that universe. We saw them explode like Oberth grade firecrackers during the Dominion War offensive, scores of them were lost during the push towards Cardassia Prime. Having said that, however, the damage dealt to pilots lost ratio might make them worth it, we don't have access to that data. It would be really cool to see a Federation carrier deploy waves of warp capable fighters though, like TIE fighters pouring out of an ISD.

    • @andrewjansen1012
      @andrewjansen1012 Рік тому +1

      @Voltaic Fire i see your point, but if an ecm/eecm system was developed for fighter craft, that scramble most starship targeting systems, giving the fighters more of a chance to score hits.

    • @misterphoenyxx5159
      @misterphoenyxx5159 Рік тому

      @@Voltaic_Fire I agree that their portrayal so far has made them look fairly useless, but they were quite good in the Table Top game Starfleet Battles. It's really just about how they are portrayed really. Maybe they hadn't used fighters much until the Dominion war, given that the Federation isn't war like. Possibly after that war, they come up with some new and improved ones. In fact, that could more or less be the premise of the first few episodes of the first season of the show. :)
      It's like shuttles. They are pretty useless in the early shows. Then they invent runabouts and things like the Delta Flyer.

    You make fun of the "super yacht" design the ship has, but in truth, on a deep space/long term exploration ship, one of the things you would want would be luxury, on top of practicality. Obviously the officers would be spending far more time than other counterparts on board the ship, so making it as comfortable as possible would greatly help with morale.
    The other important thing would be ensuring the damn thing could take a hit and dish one out. The fleet isn't there to back you, so being able to defend yourself would be probably the most vital. This is why I always made my first established base in Mass Effect Andromeda a military one.

The ship should be equipped with all of the weapons, armor and drive systems in Voyager's last episode. 5:35 we know from ST Nemesis (I think it was Nemesis) that Janeway made admiral anyway, sometime before her subspace call to Picard to deliver orders or something. (It was a very small part of the movie.)
    7:30 the metric ton is a unit of mass, not volume/space.
    8:30 according to the graphic at 5:50, the crew's main recreation center might rightly be called Twelve Forward, and 6:00 it likely comes equipped with advanced drink straw replicators.
    12:15 sounds like a certain author of novels really needs a few ... hundred hugs from a friend. Maybe even Sybok-strength hugs.
    13:13 I can't help but feel that you have that reversed - as in Ezri first, the Aventine second. The last time we saw Julian and Ezri together on DS9, they were on VERY good terms. Like, "let me see if your spots can be licked off" kind of good terms. 👀
    It's a beautiful ship, and I would love to captain one in my mind. Since I don't play the online game or read the novels you cited, your channel is a very good source of Trek info I might never see otherwise. Thank you.

A ship having not only a regular warp drive, but both a quantum AND transwarp drives is rather fascinating. Not surprised this ship would have hull armor like the Defiant. The one cannons is interesting too.
    I love the Defiant too, probably my second favorite 24th/25th Century Starship design that I like.
    BTW I loved this video on how it was presented. Adam you had me chuckling a lot especially with how you kept pronouncing the ship's name.

Upon return to the federation this should have been achievable within a few years, especially considering they could just build a new vessel with proper tech and modifications

    A fun thing to do think about is how Voyager would have fared if she were a different class of ship. I think that the intrepid was fairly well suited, but would being stranded have been easier in a Vesta class, a Galaxy class or an Odyssey class? It could be a good idea to explore.
    I think the Vesta would have done better. It's a larger ship, with more people on board and far more power. This ship would have mopped the floor with the Khazon, for example. The only downside could be the increased consumption and resources. Obviously, it didn't exist at the time Voyager was lost, but it's interesting to theorise.

    I like how you can see Starfleets "OH SHIT" moment with the Borg, and how it influenced ship design(only building pure warships) for a whopping two generations before they went back to building giant warp capable hotels in space.

    Vesta is besta. The Starfleet Core of Engineers must have asked the admiralty "So what level of resources do we have to design this new ship?" and they said "yes."

    WOW! Its been a year and no Enterprise G! The one from Bridge Commander, not Picard! Seriously, I've been trying to find a detailed account of the Enterprise G and the info is quite scarce! Any chance you might know of a place to look for details about the Enterprise G. I think it was a Excalibur class but I can't even confirm that! Oh well, love your stuff dude, keep on keeping on!

    A lot of the exploration science vessels always interested me because of the fact that exploring strange new worlds was always my favorite part of Star Trek since TOS and in turn Voyager and Enterprise were some of my favorites because they got to explore a lot.

    I do command a tier six vesta in sto the nx93890c USS qutezecol. She gained the nx tag after the iconian war was refit to the c variant and ceased to exist on paper as she became a covert shop for starfleet

    I still think that Starfleet should had used the original Slipstream tech and not the Borg enhanced Quantum Slipstream which negates the stress on the ship's forward hull. The Voyager was initially modified and successfully used the regular slipstream for several hours. 7of9 integrated certain transwarp principles to solve the forward stress to the ship's hull by creating a transwarp tunnelling effect in the quantum realm. Instead of reinforcing or redesigning the hull, she developed the quantum slipstream so that there's a forward wave generated by the main deflector far ahead of the ship so that there's no stress on the physical hull making the regular slipstream several times faster than the regular slipstream by Species116.
    IMO, the correct deployment for the original slipstream tech is the Voyager-A(Vivace class from SFC3/BridgeCommander/Armada) which is before the novel introduction's of the Vesta/Aventine class. The Vivace class looked like the forward section of the Intrepid class had been expanded by 1/3 more and the main hull by 1/4 more for safely travelling in slipstream plus fixed the variable position nacelles.
    Anyway don't forget to include the CoAxial Warp too since that didn't include an external modification to the ship's warp engines and maybe rebuild the ship's EPS system so that the Sikarian Trajector could also be used. IMO, the Sikarians are a remnant world of the T'Kon empire like Aldea and Outpost world. The quartz crystal used by the Sikarians for space folding are the similar large crystals seen on the T'Kon Outpost world.

    One reliable note is business (i. e. Star Trek) models have a life span of emergence, growth and decline. Where (think hard) do you think you are right now? Subsidiary businesses decline with the main business. That is, advantage shifts partners.

    TNG Star Trek writers: we must remove the temptation to use higher and higher warp factors because it cheapens drama. Let's put a limit at 10.
    Every subsequent Star Trek writer (most of whom worked on TNG as well): so we have warp 9 ships, warp 9.99 ships, warp 9.9999 ships, warp 9.999999999999999...

    Starfleet's ULTIMATE Exploration Ship- - Nope. If it was the Ultimate, it would have 4 nacelles to continually be at warp and not just 2 where you have to stop and cool off.

    No way! I dont card what my fellow nerds say. I'll take the comfortable vesta class over the defiant any day. Enjoy your luxury space tank. I'll be sailing some nebula in style and comfort. Same thing in star wars. The Falcon is cool but I'll take the Naboo Royal ship. Better yet gimme an ISD. That bridge us huge. I could put a pool table and couches up there.

    I own this ship in STO. Looks pretty from side angle but ugly from up, down or front, play as recon and stealth science ship using masked signature or something something... (I forgot the name) in pvp map.
    If not from the huge size, slow turn and heavy, I prefer Odyssey, her bridge is unbeatable but feels empty, STO should populate more with npcs.

    I like this ship. Especially hearing it has quantum slipstream drive. It should have been the ship used in Picard S3. It’s about time the show just made quantum slipstream a canon new commonplace thing instead of warp. Would help explain how they got to the edge of federation space so quickly. Would make things makes more exciting. Warp is so boring now. What was Matalas’s contribution? Really really loud warp barrier sounds, basically saying f-you to anyone that complains about not being able to hear anything in space.

    This ship is ugly. So glad the era of the ‘spear ship’ style is passing of season 3 of ST Picard is going to set the trend. Going back to a more movie era style is awesome. As for what ship to do, how about the new Intrepid from ST Picard season 3? It looks great. One of my new favorite designs. Looks like a newer, better Hornet class from the 90’s.
