I remember taking a few lessons from this guy back in the late 90's in Los Angeles. Good guy. watching him play live at the old LA Bass Exchange was inspirational.
I saw Ric when he toured with the instrumental prog/fusion supergroup “Planet X” (Derek Sherinian / Tony Macalpine / Virgil Donati) in 2003, and was absolutely blown away at his stupidly next-level chops. I got the chance to chat with him after the show about bass-related stuff (he let me try his Pedulla Thunderbass, which joined the upper ranks of possible high-end Bass purchases until I settled on Mike Lull & custom Spectors several years later) and we traded emails over the next few years - a class act musically as well as a great guy!
@@gersonplaybass oh Gerson, is a big mistake! Among a lot of things he did, must hear Corea's Spain, played with Issei Noro, using acoustic bass and guitar...and then will be hippy!
I took lessons from Ric for about a year in L.A., amazing human, gracious and humble. One of the greatest soloists ever! Still my favorite bassist.
