Algonquin is a Popular place to experience fall foliage. Dorset tower Lookout was in my bucketlist for a while now and I will definitely put this place in one of the top places to view fall foliage. If you are camping in Algonquin and want a 360 degree panoramic view then you should visit this place. Like any other provincial park, this requires reservation too. I made this reservation 3 weeks before the peak fall season. You can either choose to reserve with a car parking spot which will take you upto the tower. If you would like a hike then you can walk up to the tower.
Owned and operated by the Township of Algonquin Highlands, the Dorset Scenic Lookout Tower is located off Highway 35 just north of the village of Dorset.
The original tower was built in 1922, was 25 metres high and was used as a fire lookout tower until 1961. The current tower was built in 1967 and is 30 metres high (100 feet) and was erected for visitors to enjoy the view.Facilities include picnic sites, restrooms, a tourist information kiosk, a gift shop and a hiking trail. Dogs, when leashed, are welcome at the Tower Park and on the Trail, but are not allowed on the actual Tower. Now just sitback, relax and enjoy this fall foliage.
