@@DIGIT9 I just can't comprehend how with such a great host and high production value you guys are still at 10k, keep up the good videos man, cheers from New Brunswick
My first sled was a 292 snow jet, the motor didn't last 6 months. I worked all summer to buy a 640 Kohler motor, I figured out how to make it fit, I tuned it and then rode it like a bat out of hell smoking virtually everything even the RCMP'S Merc Trail twisters. The year was 1976-77 I was 13-14 some people in my town (Thompson Manitoba) thought I was a mechanical prodigy but there is no way I could build or even dream up some of the stuff you guys build.
You are correct about the "real" Rotax engines... Those 583 and 670 were the big guns in my sledding heyday.. I've just picked up 2 670 mxz for my me and my kid to goof off with....Rotary and RAVE at its best...the torque on a 670 for grass drags was phenomenal...Best motors Rotax built, see lots of newer sleds blown up and going for part out...
That Triple sound is Second to none I had a 700 Ultra Piped and Chain and geared and Jetted Clutched. It was like having a rocket between my legs. Awesome Sled and the sound is AWESOME
Ohhhh bull shit ding man. Back then fastest sleds where Polaris snowmobile. Or who's the machnic and I will tell you why. If u want skidoos had all the cash back then really nothing else. Now yamaha turbo can't touch steal pull.pull n.pull
If you dont like the sounds of a Tripple 2 stoke sled..... I don't know if I can talk to you..... I remember 22 years ago driving my 1994 Indy 440 and having Indy 650s and Storms passing me with there tripple pipes and getting temporary PTSD from the screaming of those triples... 10 years ago I got to take a XCR 800 mod sled for a day and it was such a fricken blast.... I fricken want a big bore tripple with nice loud pipes agin just to scare my self with agin
All these engines sound awesome but one engine that made your ears ring was Yamaha SRX/SSR that turned 10,200 rpm with open stinger pipes. Nothing like a piston port engine leaving the line at 6500 rpms. We had two of these sleds and they kicked ass back in the day!
@@paulmazzola398It stands to reason why those Yamaha Tripple's sounded so good, they were built by a music instrument builder! Those darn tripplet Yami's have a special sound when in over-rev that is just incredible! The only thing that sounded better was my 96 V-max4 800 with Bender pipe's and engine work. I know ski-doo built the 670 rotorey valve in the mxz 670HO in 1999 because I bought one band new that year and they built the 9500 plus from 79to 82 and the 9700 in 83&84 the only one with factory oil injection was the 1982 9500 the 9700 was supposed to be oil injection but it had such a vibration they could not make it work is what I was told by my local dealer in the fall of 82 that was vary disappointing so the 521 didn't get oil injection until the 1985 formula plus.
The 354 and 454 Sno Pro. Rotax engines with Nikasil cylinder and triple exhaust port in the 80 was very powerful engines and lots RPM. I remember a friend build a 660 triples duels Rotary Valves. lots off work. Take two 454 Sno Pro Rotax engines 1980 for build that's 660 3 cylinder Rotax Open Mod for ice drag. and i saw a 880 Rotax two 454 Sno Pro. The 880 was good for top Speed but not really for 600 feet ice drag. The 660 was betters. back in 80 and 90. but i never saw a 1500 good jobs guys 👍👍👍

Really shocked to see individual heads on a triple with that much hp ! I always ran the psi single head. Not only will it stop the block from twisting but it also is better cooling !

I love how my cc say "music", when the engine is running! It really is sweet music!
Now we’re talking! Braaap!!!
I had 95 Polaris Storm for several years. It was heavy, but very fast, and I loved that triple exhaust rumble. Sweet!
I love the rotary valve engines. I use to drag race a 95 Mach 1 670 with the stock twin pipes and we destroyed the drag race circuits up here in NY
