I sat next to the black haired guy from Modern Talking on a flight from Malaga to Berlin a few years ago. The only reason I realized it was him, was because he was watching his old music videos on a laptop for most of the flight!
There were some depressing music in the 80s: the entire genre of goth rock. There’s also lots of energetic pop today as well like the song Say so by Doja cat or any K-J-C pop track.
Most of these songs are definitely European hits, a few of them I can hear on Sirius XM radio in USA. I grew up in Poland and i remember Sandra, Modern Talking or CC Catch from local radios at the time. Lots of these songs were in a heavy MTV rotation in mid to late 80s...good old times!!! Italian, French and German music was extremely popular in old SOVIET block for sure. Long live the 80s!!!
Definitely what can be best described as an alternative eighties compilation. On that score, hard to grow bored of in a hurry. Whose up up for variety in their musical pallet?
Its funny, Felicita makes me super nostalgic even tho I was born in 97 in the US. Its probably the first song I remember ever liking. It was my favorite song when I was really young and my family would always request it on the local Italian radio station, back when it still existed.
@Food ForFun Sadly the Italian stations in Boston have slowly died out as the remaining Italians have died and the Italian-American culture is completely lost on successive generations. There's like 1 station for 1 hour a week left and the music is not exactly my taste. The only person my age I've met who loved the song Felicita? My Russian Jewish roommate in college, whose parents came here in the early 90s.
