    • How I'm Going to Sell ... -~-
While it helps to know the actual measurements of the watch you're wearing, it's even more helpful to see things up close. Today I'm sharing with you an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Size Comparison. You'll see the difference between the 37mm, 38mm, 39mm, as well as the 41mm. You'll also see AP's latest 38mm model. You're tuned into Episode 106 of WOMD (What's On My Desk).

I know many of you often find yourselves confused over which watch size to order and I'd like to display that the differences aren't so vast between the 37, 38 and 39mm and that ROO watches start to look a lot chunkier as you hit the 40mm mark and over.
It eventually became a trend for females to wear larger watches (aka, "men's watches"), as opposed to the dainty watches and pieces of jewelry that used to be more common. So while, 38mm watches are often dubbed "unisex," they're not really "small" by any means. There are countless men who wear "ladies watches," simply because the size just happens to be more suitable to their wrist. And best of all? You probably wouldn't even know it.

Another great video! I agree with you that AP moving towards smaller sizes is a great thing. I never bought into the big watch phase and came in with buying a 36mm OP White Dial for my first proper piece. I only have recently started learning the history of AP as most of my time previously was spent learning the history of PP and Rolex. One AP that caught my eye especially was the 42mm Ti ROO. Primarily because I really liked that they made a piece in 42mm with modern pushers and to really put the icing on the cake, its thin and in a light material. I am scared to commit to one because i do not know if i would still enjoy wearing my other pieces which mainly range in the 36 mm vicinity.

Great to see a comparison on the sizes and how they wear. If you love watches you love all, old and new. If I had to pick one to own it'd be the new sub with the larger crown guard as it looks slightly bigger on the wrist, the old GMT still looks cool though.

Prefer the vintage dial with the rubies! Much more unique look.
Love the vintage idea. I bought my first true vintage piece, a '69 1675 w/ box and papers, but it took a few years to find the right one. Having a place like your website to look would make it a lot easier, especially since i hope you would offer nice examples with box and papers since you appreciate them so much. Other places have lots of examples, but they are naked.

Great comparison of the sizes, I really think 37 mm would be ok for smaller wrist sizes, and for men that like smaller sized watches.
My favorite range is between 36 and 39 mm, so I think the 37 and 38 would be my top two choices.
    Thanks Roman.

Roman, I agree with you. I also think the chrono AP in the grey dial is much nicer than the blue sub dial version. Also with smaller 38mm size is actually nice because although it is smaller, it doesn't give the impression that's it's too small because the case is quite thick and gives it wrist presence. Sometimes a bigger 42mm looks a bit silly when it looks too big and can not carry it off if you are wearing a suit at formal event. Thanks for showing us..

Hi Roman. Great video. I totally agree with you on the the size
Topic. I’m going though it right now. I have a Rolex 36 daydate for about ten yrs now and always loved this watch. But over the past year I’ve purchased a Tudor black bay gmt and a datejust 41 and A breitling headwind. Now I’m have issues wearing the daydate. Every time I put it on I don’t make it out of my house without taking it off. So much I’m looking to trade it and upgrade to a two tone skydweller.
Oh and I would take older gmt.

Great commentary Roman, I love your show. I wear a JLC Master Compressor Extreme Lab 2 that runs 46mm, and when I wear my Rolex Sub it seems very small. That 38mm AP looks awesome, I think I could wear it, but it would be tough to maintain the rotation with my JLC. I've been looking to get into the AP game, but right now have only JLC and Rolex.

Modern vs vintage? After literally watching 90% of your videos, You convinced me and probably many others BUY WHAT YOU LIKE!
Vintage watches are beautiful and have the appeal of "If you know you know"
Modern watches are also beautiful and have the same "If you know you know appeal"
I believe a majority of the world would prefer modern watches because they are not educated in vintage. I am not educated in vintage I just watch your videos lol
But I think that many of us if given the opportunity would choose the watch that fits them the best price wise and style wise.
Thank you for being real with your viewers and thank you so much for giving the world an opportunity to learn more about watches which is a very exclusive and boujie thing to be a part of. Please stay safe during COVID and thank you again for your commitment to your viewers!
EDIT: If I had to choose between the two GMT's I would choose the new school, Only because the color combination is easier to pull off with a black face

I like the newer more advanced watches of today that are antimagnetic. We have speakers in our phones that have some magnetic properties so my everyday watch is the zblue milgauss and my work watch is the grey wavy zro2 seamaster on nato. I met a guy who had a vintage globe master always running 5 minutes fast and yes, he carries his phone in his left pocket. I know correlation isn’t causation but it’s suspicious to me. You have definitely planted the seed for the 38 ro for sure. Great video man!

I have a preference for the vintage watches so I go for the old school Rolex GMT over the new two tone Sub. Beside I have a 7inch wrist and I can wear from 34-36-38mm to 45-47mm watches, it all depends on the watch design. Vintage tend to be on the smaller size.

    great show as always Roman
and a very fine topic about the size of the watch - I do like the smaller watches :)
something struck me with the PP 3970E and since you do have a crystal ball you are the guy to ask 😉
close to 200 K going to down now to about 100 K - so my question is ...
whats a fair price for a the common man Rolex 126710BLRO ?
at the hight of the rolex batman-BLNR bubble it was going for close to 25.000 euros 🤯🤮
and before the Covid19 the BLRO was standard priced to about 18 -19.000 euros
both the batman and the batgirl (and the pepsi too ) have gone down significant in price on chrono24
personally, I believe that the prices will go down much closer to the retail prices for both batgirl and Pepsi,
close to the 10.000 euros for a new watch.
is there a place on the internet where you can see the price development like you can do for stock prices ?
so you can for example type in, PP 5711 and then you get a graph of the price over the last month - year - 5 years
looking forward to the next video ;)

One thing I've learned is that the case size means absolutely nothing to how a watch is going to wear. Literally everything else is more important, dial size, bezel size/thickness, case thickness, lug size, lug width, bracelet tapering, etc. So I have watches that go from 38 to 45 and none of them feel out of place to me. know what to look for and you won't regret your purchases.

I tried on the 38mm, I don’t know, it looks too “unisex” for me. So I went with 41mm black dial silver sub dials instead. I like how masculine it looks and feel in my 6.5 inch wrist. I think since AP use double folding clasp 41mm RO is no longer too big, unlike the older 39mm with single folding that always wears a little too weird and uncomfortable on small wrist.

Ive got an ancient Longines 30mm. Yes. 30mm. Then I went up to a 36mm Omega which seemed large. Then a 42mm Breitling which made the Omega seem small and the Longines like a kids watch. Down to 40mm with a Rolex Sub and back up to 41mm with a Datejust. Plenty of other watches in between. A 45mm Tissot for shits n giggles. But the thing that makes a watch appear large is the dial diameter. Chunky watches with clunky bezels and smaller dials can seem smaller than large dials with narrow bezels. Yes 45mm is silly big and 30mm is silly small but it’s all in your mind. Stick with one watch long enough and it becomes the new normal. But it’s fun to chop and change. If you’ve got a skinny wrist and like extra large overhanging watches then good for you. If you’re built like Charles Atlas and like a 35mm Datejust, just fine It’s your cash, your call.
