Thank you for this wonderful reaction of this masterpiece. Floor moved me again and touched my soul. She is so at her place in Nightwish. Great comment on the artwork. Thanks I am impressed by your comments.
Floor told that when she heard the song for the first time, she had to overcome emotions before she could sing it. I would love to see your reaction to the videos of other songs on this album.
A stunning tribute to Tuomas's dad who had passed. It shows the 3 stages of the 5 stages of grief of Denial.. then Anger where the piano changes and eventually acceptance (black and white/cold to start and as time goes on a bit of colour & warmth creeps in) and that life will go on .. the broken lantern will shine again to guide him as he continues his life's journey (his dads memory)
Stobe Harju - the Finnish filmmaker who made the videos for "The Islander" and "Noise", as well as the film "Imaginaerum". Makes a lot of sense. I'm glad you came back to Nightwish.
I loved your analysis and you've won yourself a subscriber. Thank you for playing it *twice!* Also, you said the word "masterpiece" about 20 seconds after I did. Great minds think alike I guess. Well minds enthralled by the beauty of Nightwish do. I want able to buy the album yet but it's on my list for next pay. Tuomas is a genius and this is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard. Thank you for taking the time to review it. ❤
How come you have only dine GLS and this? You should listen to the short opener, Yesterwynde. It has basses that sound almost like the Russian Orthodox tradition Tuomas recommends listening to this beginning to end - you jumped in at the end with my favourite song. Thete are orchestral and instrumental versions too and I think you would find those interesting. They really show what is going on behind the vocals and bring out the similarities to older Nightwish. Loved the detail in this analysis - the music analysis of course, so hard to find on YT channels, but the video analysis was excellent too. Thank you.
Great reaction and analysis. 👍 Thank you. Made me appreciate the production even more. Personally the whole composition, Floor's voice and underlying passion, then Troy joining at the tail end, evoked so much emotion. I love it. ❤❤❤❤❤
A fantastic analysis! This album is getting better every listen and it is steadily climbing towards the top, and might become my favourite Nightwish album ever. Their sound has evolved and matured so much. The orchestration is incredible. I love the direction they have taken on this album. I have no musical training and I do not know why I love it so much, I just do. People like you help me understand and I want to say thank you. Lanternlight is a standout for me. I love how this song takes its time, feeling almost slow motionish at times, there is no rush and it gives such a soothing, calming feeling, like a long hug from a friend in a time of need. Tuomas has outdone himself with the lyrics and Floor's vocals are perfect. The video is stunning.
Wonderful reaction. This is the last song on the album and it makes sence. Tuomas wrote this after his father passed away. In a beautiful way the circrl of life is complete with this song and the whole album. Thank you and cheers from a finn in Sweden.👍😃
Makes me think of an Auri song by Tuomas called Night13. Wonderful cinematography also, and there is a making of video for the music video showing the on location and studio work. Also, it uses reflected images on the actor's face at points.
I’ve been interested in trying out some Nightwish but missed your previous video on them. Enjoyed this so much I went back to your first analysis for them and watched that through too. Thanks for the introduction to their music and the analysis, I think I’m really going to enjoy exploring them some more 🙂
Starting deep and low... This sounds like her solo album, I think Tuomas likes the variety of her singing. Floor said that she chokes up too easily with this song, the band rewinds, during the sessions, to let her recover. Mmm, the warmth of her voice... “Last night brought the heaviest of snows” That sad piano about to sink below the ice. “Melting the songs of old” Reminiscences, love of the souls that have gone before. Tuomas wrote this in memory of his father. The pocket watch to wind... The old style film projector, a “Magic Lantern”. The old flickering movies, like memories. Floor soaring away. Celebration of their lives, rather than mourning. The Janus faces? Looking back, and also forwards. Did you get the Tuomas déjà vu references? “I am the snow on your palm” [Storytime?] “I am the secret stream” [Sagan, Shudder Before The Beautiful, Endlessness?] “Moss beneath your feet” [My Walden?] “I am you who climbed off of my back” [Our Decades in the Sun?] “Petrichor” (with a hint of green) [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself?] “Timeless” (with a hint of a smile) [Perfume of the Timeless?] “To the meadows I go” [Meadows of Heaven?] Soaring up... and down. Mmm, mmm. Then Troy drifts in, with his soft voice, he made up the word, so his pronunciation, is our guide, _right at the end_ of the album. :) Wow! Yes, Wow! The control of colour, nicely done. ________ Analysis, piano, unexpected turn. Cinematography is awsome. Old projector, almost Sun like. Old abandoned piano about to sink in the ice. Mirror image (Janus again). Focus on one key, with the depth of field. The old images projected onto her face. The poor old projector, in the snow! The focus pulled. Pocket watch on a chain. 33:03 3 Floors :) Almost like a Kinetograph, the camera used to take a series of photographs of people or objects in motion. The bells. The boat, with light spilling out either side. Uplighting the snow-covered branches. "Petrichor" with green background. [The smell of fresh rain on grass, Last Ride Of The Day, Song of Myself] The Lantern lights up. Incomplete weave. Uplifting. Depth from Troy. Sneaky chords. The Projector "winds" down. Ethereal, magical.
Thank You For You're Depth Of A Reaction Brother, We Know Floor Is The NightwishAngel 💎🧚🏽♀️🎶
When I'm on my death bed..., I want to "check out" listening to this.
Incredible Tuomas Holopainen. Kiitos.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music that I have ever heard and the video is a visual overload - a true piece of art work
Floor is sooooo charismatic en a real story teller. Floor is the best in the world in what she does!!!
Thank you for this wonderful reaction of this masterpiece. Floor moved me again and touched my soul. She is so at her place in Nightwish. Great comment on the artwork. Thanks I am impressed by your comments.
Great work analysing a beautiful song.

Beautiful song and reminds me of another song she sings called Warchild.
Hauntingly sublime, yet ending with a hopeful longing. This video deserves awards.

I'm glad you came back to Nightwish.
👋
Breathtakingly beautiful ❣️❣️❣️
By the way, this song is dedicated to Tuomas's deceased father

David, well done justice to this awesome piece of musical art!
What a way to end an album.... I loved seeing you falling into this. Floor studied musical theater, which honed her insane voice to story telling
Right in the feels. That is Nightwish.

This is pure art and I wanna listen it on my funeral 😊

Thank you, you've shed light on lots of choices, music wise as well as in the cinematography!

👍Subscribed. Awesome performance and MV. Great reaction. May I suggest a reaction to: BABYMETAL - Monochrome - Piano ver. / THE FIRST TAKE 🖖❤
