I fix up bikes for a charity resale, we try to clean up spokes but there is only so much you can do. That is a pretty cool bike, I have a Bridgestone MB3 from 87 that has the funky chainstay mounted brakes. It has a mix of brazed and welded construction, really odd.

That's a pretty sweet bike. Not sure who thought it'd be a good idea to put a brake down there but still cool bikes!

I don't think the customer wants to buy a bike with Rusty spokes like that, that's pretty bad

Rubbing the spokes with aluminum foil might take the surface rust off. If the seat is stuck and made of steel, penetrating fluid will loosen it. You can make cheap penetrating fluid with a 50/50 mix of acetone and the cheapest transmission fluid you can find.

Great tips. Thank you. I used a similar mix to loosen a stuck motorcycle piston once.

Of course you can sell a bike with rusty spokes but the ethical thing to do is point it out at the time of sale, and allow the customer to make the call. BTW, the chainstay-mounted u-brakes are frigging awesome for anyone who isn't running a kickstand.
Only thing you need to do before selling that bike is to flip the seatpost clamp around, as it is backasswards and it hurts my eyes

Ha. I was wondering if anyone was going to get triggered by the seat post clamp. It bugged my ocd also. It kind of hides the clamp nicely when it's upside down like that though

@@stockton350using the guts-type clamp doesn't bother me at all, but having it in the Forward-position looks ridiculous... Even if the saddle hides the clamp somewhat, it just looks weird to have it facing the wrong way. I've seen ppl do it to mitigate the long top tube if they're riding a poorly fitting frame, but dang.... Just flip it, or just dro😢p $15 for a kalloy one-piece post
