It's not the carb, it's bogging bc ur to big for it. And ur shifting to early, those 85s like to scream it's boggy like that bc u r in to high of a gear. But all in all u did a good job in the bike. Try rideing the gears out longer. It's a race bike it's meant to scream in Every gear that's y it's bogging on ya
You’re telling me I rode a 110 4 stroke and it pulls good but a 85 2 stroke want I used to own a 85 go back and look it screamed every gear and this 85 bogs in first till you open it up you can’t hold the gears out cause it bogs I mean you saw the clip on the side of the rode every gear opened up good
Highgear MX yeah I saw, it's not torquey, like in low rpms it boggs, I'm just saying it's ment to scream just hold your gears out longer. Again love ur vids. U did a good job on the bike. U can double ur money back easy.
That bog is pretty normal for the Yz85's. Because they have no powervalve so thats why the powerband is so agressive. They bog because they only like the high rpm's haha. Thats why I love mine so much!
Got a yz80 and my buddy has an 85 both our bikes bog and kinda chop in the low revs man. Just how these bikes are. Gotta just hold er wide so she aint in the low revs. haha
im new to dirtbikes and wanted to know how to shift gears. do u pull in the clutch quick and then go up a gear and gas it or do u not have to use clutch?
greatest one - shift into first while holding the clutch in give it steady gas while slowly releasing the clutch lever. every gear after that pull in the clutch real quick let off the gas quick shift up and rip it hard
Finally got the view on exactly how big you are on this bike. My neighbor picked one up the other day and he is too big also. But I had no idea that these race bikes were an oil and fuel mix.
these bikes can be sprung up for 180lb 12 year olds... trust me - they offer plenty of damping for what we use them for. By we i mean adults with 85s. i dont jump triples because its too tiny for me in the air.. makes a great bike for friends to ride im 28 160lbs

@@TennesseeArborist me and my cousin were on a cr 85 and we hauled ass on it. About 370 pounds combined.
The power band on a 80/85 is Viscous! Complete Calm to Completely Insane in a Instant! I remember ridding my buddy's 93 kx 80 when I was kid, when you hit the Pipe it goes!!!
I’m a little late but I do the same exact thing on my 85 lmao. I was racing a couple of dudes in a straight line and I tapped the clutch and pulled away from a dude on a cr125
I had a brand new 2015 yz 85 and they bog in bottom end because they have no bottom end power so u have to start in like first or if in a higher gear it will bog and u could get a set of vforce 3 Reeds to help
I can tell by the plastics it's a 2006. That was a killer year for the 2 yz's, the 85 and the 125. I had an yz85 and yz125 from 06. Man oh man they ripped. I still have the 125 but I sold the 85 which I really regret doing
The rm65 I owned bogged pretty bad also. But when the powerband kicked in the bike took off! Maybe it’s just these smaller two strokes. But check the carb if you think it’s that
Put a weisco piston in it it helped with the bogging and carry more spead while your ridding it, it kicks in better or tap the clutch in the corners. If it's something else it could be a pilot jet. On my 2007 yz 85 when we got it used we took it apart put a new top end in it and pretty much replaced everything on it from rims to a new pipe but never changed the jets and it would bog in the corners so long story short we changed both jets and it runs great. But keep in mind its an older model so it wouldnt run as good as like a 2018, also that would have 2 radiators
Those 85 are like that it’s cause they don’t have powervalve / rc valve so the powerband is different but that bike is crispy you should keep it! Throw a restyle kit on it and it’ll be even more mint
im new to dirtbikes and wanted to know how to shift gears. do u pull in the clutch quick and then go up a gear then hit gas hard or do u not have to use clutch when shifting up gears? REPLY
New spark plug, make sure your reeds are good and if so just do some research and learn to tune your carb... If it idles and rums the carb is clean. Alot of other things can cause the bit of blubber you het.... Maybe drop the main needle a notch or get better fuel
When I first got my yz85 I didn't realize how much power the bike gains from the powerbands and I was practicing wheelies and I came up before the powerband kicked in....annnd mid wheelie it did kick in. I looped the bike. Be aware of how much power the little sucker can give out.
I remember my YZ85 used to big heaps bad with my dad on it but when it hit band it would go well, same thing happens when I used to double people on it
greatest one yeah you should pull the clutch in in between gears if your accelerating hard but if your just crusing up the street or on flat ground or down hill where your not putting much pressure on your clutch and drive components, you don't really need to use the clutch if you roll off the throttle when your shifting
It’s not the bike you need to keep it in a lower gear if it’s bogging. When the power band kicks in wait for it to stop accelerating than shift so it doesn’t bog just don’t let the throttle up
enjoyable video, your front brake needs to be bled. I was able to tell by how much travel was in the front brake lever when your friend was squeezing the brake at the end of the video
If you get v force reeds the power band is crazy I can tell that your power band doesn’t kick like mine does but also it probably could use a carb clean and new air filter that bog is it getting a lil to much gas or not enough and you are to big for it so it’s boggin also because your to heavy for it
I’m 16 and have a smaller build, like 5’7 120 lbs, is an 85 right for me or should I go 125, I am also a decently skilled rider. I’ve ridden a crf150f for most of my life. Thx man, awesome vid.
It’s not called “power band” it’s the bike hitting it’s perfect rpm’s and the gas build up in the designator Call getting on the pipe. Every engine had a “power band” four stroke too.
You’re definitely incorrect it’s called power band because at half throttle it kicks in and produces 2x the power ... 4stroke have the same power all the time there’s no point in the throttle in a 4 stroke that kicks in and produce more power only 2 strokes which is called the power valve which opens and is the power band
Highgear MX I’m not going to argue with you, but you are incorrect. Do your research. Any combustion engine has a power band. The power band is the rpm range that the engine makes power. After the power band, the engine is no longer making extra power. The little burst of power you are speaking of, is when a 2 stroke reaches its optimum rpm range, and has everything to do with exhaust. Look it up please. Google “getting on the pipe”
My friend has the same year yz250 and I has a crazy power band and he has 2007 yz 85 and it’s ride just like that one he has had the same piston in it since 2007 and it’s still insane power
My 2004 yz 85 doesn’t shift its stuck in first and the shifter is loose it also doesn’t go it seems like it loses power as soon as I get going it bogs so I pulled the clutch in got it at a high rpm and i let the clutch out and it boged and died now it doesn’t move at all does anyone know what could be wrong with it?

im new to dirtbikes and wanted to know how to shift gears. do u pull in the clutch quick and then go up a gear and gas it or do u not have to use clutch?
greatest one - start up your bike in neutral
greatest one - shift into first while holding the clutch in give it steady gas while slowly releasing the clutch lever. every gear after that pull in the clutch real quick let off the gas quick shift up and rip it hard
i know neutral just talking about how to shift thru gears. wanted to know do i have to use clutch when i shift up .
do i have to pull in the clutch fast then push up to the next gear and hit the throttle fast while im at it

You only mix the fuel if you have a 2 stroke but a 4 stroke it doesn't need the fuel mix
I'm 5'8 145 lb you think I am to big ?
That 85 a keeper
The yz85’s have wicked power bands it’s either there or it’s not. The “bog” is normal.

Mark Demitraszek that’s dirtbikes for ya
Check the position of your floats in the carb, there are a lot of videos showing how to make sure its in the right spot, easiest way to get rid of bog

I’ve got a yz85 and just changing the spark plug made all the difference with the bogging
What spark plug did you put in
Highgear MX I don’t know much about them but I think it was some iridium one

Idk if u said the total price but what was it
Check the reeds

What graphics did u put on that bike if u would send me the link id appreciate it
What's your mixture screw setting? Have you tuned the bike with that?
The bog might be the main Jhett or the pilot Jhett In the carbi my 85 had the same problem

Yz85s and yz80s are known for having not much low end grunt. The 125s are kinda the same way but not as bad. 250s are good on both ends
