Good day Mr Howatt, Thank you for your time creating this informative video. I've had a problem with this valve body assembly also. You've helped me diagnose a condition that has long plagued me with my 2007 Skoda Octavia TDI which was hard to track down even with VCDS. Please keep up your great and thoughtful work. Cheers
Nice content Alan, I also have the same car for 6 years 140 bkd changed the throttle body twice ,first with cheap e bay £60 , lasted only a year ,then a German one £120 & its been fine ever since...
Your videos are informative and presented in a brilliant way, Keep them coming and now your at sales the cars shown will vary which will benefit a wider audience, well done.
Wow! I know the pain! Ive done this on my old BKD engine from 2005 and you do have to almost remove half a load of stuff just to get the senor out! 😂😂👍 and the intake motor too. I’ve done both.
If you're interested in car mechanics and do repairs your self of your car, even if it's not a mondeo video :) it gives you an idea where to look at least (I'd not think about this fuse to check it). Thanks Alan, keep making these videos!
Hi Alan, love your videos, keep them coming in!! Question for you, I'm no mechanic by the way. If the 10A fuse also serves the engine management module then surely the engine wouldn't even fire up??? Or am i missing something?? Thanks Alan
most modern cars have multiple fuses for various aspects of the engine management system, most won't stop the car from running, just give an engine light and running problems
Hi had the same problem , inlet flap motor was replaced, fuse replaced, but after a short time the inlet flap motor and engine light (emissions workshop) came on again. Fuse has not blown again. Wondered if it was faulty d plug or rapid build up of soot in the valve body. Sorry posted on my wife’s login: Regards Dave. I had cleaned the original inlet flap valve as it was heavily sooted. I got it moving again but it blew a new fuse. So I replaced it with an after market unit which was £85 rather than £185. Any help would be appreciated.
Shame you couldn't just replace the motor like on heating valves. But I guess VAG would make less money 😂 Love your videos, always full of good tips. Thanks
Alan. Car trader. No mechanic me. Same engine speed sensor for vAG 1.4 petrol too, also buried in block. However the stuck seized intake motor , could you have sunk in paraffinbath overnight. Would that have freed it ? If trying be cheap ? Just started trying fix my own basic single fault code fixes. Glad didn’t try sort your Touran.
Very interesting Alan! Appreciate your patience! I have 2013 golf petrol! Used Ancel VD700 to code new battery! Recommend any modern car owner to get a diagnostic tool! More vids & More Monika please??
Hi, I kindly ask your support. I have a VW fox with 1.4 tdi Engine “BNM” showing the error: Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157) P3103 - 35-10 - Malfunction - Intermittent I replaced the original valve 045 128 063 G with not original one from Febi. Afternoon installing and cleaning the engine error engine light switch off. If start the engine and then turn off the error come out again and engine light also on. VW Dealer say that I need to put original component for a crazy cost of 600€. Do you have any idea? I’m guessing if second hand vale could be the solution. Thank you for the help
The days are gone when you had a problem in the engine bay is lift the bonnet and have a look first, or check the fuses, seems its plug a computer in and scan it for codes Nice to see the old tool box came with you ... its a bloody long walk to borrow stuff now ? Fresh content for your channel See your missing that heater already with that winter jumper on ....
Mate: Great clip as always. Question for you : Is the crank/speed sensor part of the engine management module? If so, in retrospect do you think its fault code was also related to the blown fuse - and therefore did not need replacing?
the code for speed sensor was coming on regular until i replaced the sensor, then it went for good so i don't think it was related to the fuse plus originally with the old crank sensor the glow plug and engine lamp were coming on together
Allen Very interesting video mate just shows you with modern cars these added electrics can cause lots of problems always check fuses first to see if one is blown love the videos Phil in stoke
Alan I’ve been trying to bleed my petrol 2.0 duratec engine mondeo 2007 mk4 and I’ve undone the blood nipple by turning it by hand but now when i seat it back to its original position it is still leaking brake fluid out of the bleed nipple ?? Replaced the master but now can’t get the bleeding to work !
One thing that got me thinking has the fuse blown because of a short to ground on the cooling fan circuit rather than the problem with ceased motor? Will it blow again next time the cooling fan kicks in???
Hi Alan, I also have fault code P3102 on my VW Passat 2.0 TDI ( 55 plate ), so would my fault be the intake flap too, it does say online that it is wiring... does that mean that the motor wont work. Cheers bud.
Hi there Alan, pleaseeeeee help!!! I have a 09 ford kuga that had a snapped camshaft. My colleague replaced this , cam belt etc. After a lot of bleeding air took car for a drive and ran absolutely fine, no warning lights, pulling well through all gears and thought brilliant. Keeps stalling / won’t drive above 2000 rpm. He suspected car entered limp mode but has found leak off 1/2 leak off pipes keep “ popping out “ has replaced these but keeps happening. Seems to be engine / air leak in and around injector areas. I’ve been very stressed with this car as it’s our family car and have resigned myself to given up on it now but after lots of money it surely can’t be far away if it runs so well intermittently? Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thank you
a leaking leak off pipe won't put the car into limp mode.....i would connect a scanner and firstly see if there are any codes too point you in some direction as to where the trouble may be
Well Alan at least the crank sensor bolt didn’t snap which is what happened to me, a royal pita ensued to get that drilled out. At least the oil pump drive hasn’t failed on it………..yet, though given the age that might be the best thing.
Hi Alan. Thanks for another great video. I have a 1.2 2012 polo. The engine light has been on and off recently which takes me to the camshaft sensor. I changed this for another one and the light went away. It’s now back again and when I reset the codes it goes and then comes back on again at some point. The car doesn’t sound / drive sluggish as others have mentioned. It’s spot on. I’m starting to run out of other ideas, and I’m extremely close to take it into VW, just so they can properly find out what’s causing the issue. - Do you have any other ideas? :)
I had same with a fuel temp sensor. Clear codes would eml would stay off for one start and then come on again. Would get me through MOT. After much searching it was the wiring loom had rubbed on a pipe and worn through and cut the earth wire to the sensor. This may be your problem?
hi david...we are £70 per hour plus vat but generally we just put a price on whatever job it is...its usually a guess but we sometimes have to look on auto data to get a rough idea of the labour involved
I had the same issue replaced the flap, the plastic tooth had broken off in side the flap motor and it was full of oil. popped the fuse too! Codes 19557 - P3101, 17075 - P0691
so ... flap motor seized , next replace the head gasket due to fan not working (sharing the same fuse) than replace the warn chocolate camshaft , et etc .
Rule number 1 when you've got a fault Google the shit out of it and read every thread doing that I found out that fuse is shared with the cooling fan and throttle body but in my case the asv is just making a buzzing sound when I turn ignition on/off so I know its that that's knackered as my fuse is fine

God bless you!!!! I just saved 800 euros that the mechanic said was about to cost me the “issues” he thought the car has !!!
Hi Allan, well done on your perseverance you always manage to get there in the end.look forward to your next video
Thanks 👍
Well done mate. I have 2 of these engines i look after. Nice to know what's waiting for me around the corner thanks to your hard work.

glad i not the only one lol
Very nice video! Do you know if its possible to open the intake manifold flap motor to service the gears inside?
no i wouldn't bother, just fit a new pattern part one, they don't cost too much

Great job Alan, had that same nightmare with crank sensor on a Passat before, if that 4 mm is not in square it can get leary very quick:):)

the fans are working fine with the air con so i putting my money on the intake flap motor blew the fuse

Top man 👊🏾
If that's for sales you might want to take the sump off and check the oil pump drive before it give up as its a BKD engine
thanks for that happy news lol
No problem with oil pump in this type of engine.
so ... flap motor seized , next replace the head gasket due to fan not working (sharing the same fuse) than replace the warn chocolate camshaft , et etc .
Thanks man its very helpfull :)
Before change any sensors first check electric wires.
Tourans...like Zafiras...ugly cars..sooo many problems...
just dont have the same enthusiasm to fix ugly cars..
But you did..:)

Long story short ena :D
Was thinking throttle seized has fuse blown
😁

i feel ya pain Al stick to mondeos lol
🤣
And all that work for a tenner Alan , modern cars are crap, we hate our daily job more and more each day
very true
Bkd engine 2.0 tdi not great not terrible..
i not heard much bad about this engines so i thinking they are pretty reliable
Try changing speed sensor on Touareg R5. AAAAGH!
