You almost lost that first one because you didn't break the birth sack as soon as you should have. If the airway is still covered when the puppy presents, rip that sack open so the puppy can breath.
I honestly dont know how soon is soon. You think I should have ripped it of as soon as the head came out? I am praying hard while I am doing this though, not everything is shown In that part of the video - the pup was already stucked there for around 20 mins even longer i think. Thank you for bringing this up though but do let me know your thoughts. People commenting here says I should have not get involved with my dog’s birthing process. FYI we called the vet emergency and we were informed that the waiting line is 4 hrs minimum that night (during pandemic) and told us to assist the mom, so this time we have step up😞. I said to myself, I got to so what I got to do- this is the time to make use all of those other youtube tutorials about dogs giving birth. What you have just watched is the sum of it all. I have seen my aunts dog gave birth before and i saw how two pups died because nobody assisted the dog, which I believed could have been prevented. This is why I watched other youtube vids so I could assist my dog just in case, im super grateful for all thise people who shared their experiences. I know I’m not a vet, but I will do all that I can to prevent anything that I witness before with my aunts puppies to also happen to my sheerah’s babies. Thank you to those who watched with understanding - all anticipating fur moms. For those who hated this video, thank you for your time watching and even commenting - my dog and her pups are safe and alive, and been rehomes to amazing loving families, thats all that matters most to me. Its better to prepare for the worse than not to prepare at all.
It is obvious from your video and explanation that you are a caring, responsible owner. You did a great job preparing for and helping during your dog's delivery, and the pups were all safe and sound. There may be some things that can be handled better (or even not? who am i to judge when every owner/dog's experience is different!), but you did the best you could with what you have known. So well done, and don't let the negative comments bother you. Hope the mom and pups are doing fine!
I believe that the puppy was getting what it needed from the umbilical cord. As long as that is attached and pulsing the puppy doesn't need to breathe. You did right. You rubbed it and suctioned it. Good job. Cute puppies.
I have watched my dogs give birth and after watching this, you were clearly in the way. Your dog knows what to do, it's instincts. She would have opened the sack her self just like she was working on the umbilical cord.
No disrespect, I’m sure she meant well.. but I never understand why these pet owners feel the need to assist in the birth of their dogs puppies instead of allowing nature to take it’s course. Even a vet wouldn’t step in during the delivery process unless something was wrong. Sherah’s babies would have come out on their own just fine and she would have known to chew the sack open bc it would have come naturally for her to do so. There was too much handling going on, she should have been allowed to clean those babies on her own as well. Really cute puppies, I’m glad things turned out well but I can assure you that in most cases the only thing your dog needs during the delivery process is to stroke her on the head and let her know you are there for her. 😊
Animals have been breeding for centuries without the need to faf around unless its an emergency. I feel she intervened a lot when there was no need to.
I was gonna say just sit back and let it happen! Animals instinctively know what to do on their own!!! So glad I’m not the only one that feels this way! And I don’t think the first puppy was ‘stuck’ either. The second you let go she pushed it right out!
Agreed. Our dog gave birth to 5 healthy puppies, and she did it all alone, knowing when to push and how to open the sacks and cut the cord and eat the placenta, licking the puppies and guiding them to her nipples . Nursing the ones born while giving birth to the rest…. I was there on the side, ready to help if she needed it.
People this is what not to do when your dog is having puppies, don't man handle the mother whom surely is in alot of pain and don't force the puppies out thats a natural process and it takes time for a reason, even first time fur moms know exactly what to do. She needs to contract to work them down and dilate just like us humans.
My Labrador had eleven pups, I was there to comfort her only through it, you have to let them do it! You got far to involved!!! But still very beautiful 🥰
We helped my toy poodle give birth to four beautiful babies. The last one was huge - we named him Fred Flinstone because he was twice as big as the the smallest one. Mama birthed the first three on her own and cleaned them up by herself. She was tired by the time Fred came around and that was the only one we had to help with by literally pulling while she pushed. Thankfully all babies were healthy and lived past 15 years. The last one to go was almost 18 years old when his heart gave out.
ma'am I know you're trying to help but I mean you're trying to do all the right things but I think you need to let her lick the baby more so she can bond with the baby more and and so on
When I was little I had the pleasure of experiencing our dog delivering puppies twice. We sat as my mother and father explained everything that was happening during birth. Bless you, your family your dog and puppies. Much love and respect from katrinka in the San Francisco Bay Area
You manhandled mom so much. That was stressfull for her. Imagine being manhandled by people in small bed by doctors in hospital. During birth mother instinctively get into comfortable possition. And the worst thing I can possible imagine, you pushing her vaginal area instead of waiting for her to push during her contractions when she feels the need for pushing! Ugh I felt terrible for her. You could seriously injured her! And cutting the umbilical cord. Too soon! It needs to stop pumping the blood. Dog mum cleans the nose, activates respiratory and circulatory systems by licking puppy, clean. Duing that by you is less efective and takes away first bonding moments from mother and child. If birth is without any complications in humans child is not bathed first, newborn is given to mother after being checked by nurses and doctors. Those are most presious moments. And afterbirth, as gross as it looks for humans, it is important for many animals to eat. It has many nutrition values for mother after pregnancy. For next time let her do it on her own, best in place which she chooses. My dog gave birth in my bedroom, under my bed on her favorite blanket. I wanted her to feel safe so I checked a few times how was she. If anything would be wrong I had my veterinarian informed about situation so he would come. Other than that everybody were in the living room, they were watching tv but we all were trying to be as quiet as possible to not disturb her. She had fresh water and dimmed light of night lamp. She was giving birth at night. So when I was checking on her I didn't want to scare her with sudden light switching every time when I was entering the room. That is why I left that lights on, only to see if she needed me. If you want to help her next time, ask your veterinarian how to do it properly, okay?
Always allow mom to do the work since it's her job momma. She knows what she is doing, I promise you. You can sit with her but allow her to do it by herself because if she has another litter.. she may be a little put off next time. Other than that good job❤p.s don't move her so much when she's in certain positions. She was pushing on the first one when you thought she wasn't.
I can tell your a good midwife, just wished you let her push for herself instead of moving her so much she needed a bigger birthing bed. Sometimes we live and learn. Injoy your new family ooxx to mom.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I mean I'd help my dog but I'd let her do most of the work unless I was needed. This is just kind of annoying to even watch.
Beautiful puppies but your messing with them to much. Your dog knows what to do and what order to do. If she has more pups then just sit with her for comfort.
I have had my girl give birth to 15pups 2 times.. Do not ever do what u did unless the pup is in danger. Cutting the cord and sack is a no no.. And for God sake let her clean her own pups.. I could not Finnish the video it was so wrong
I believe cleaning puppy keeps mom busy while in labor on next, placenta should be eaten by mom ( it helps birthing process). Yes can clean out noses if having problems.
I'm sure everyone is happy and healthy now but she seriously needed a bigger welping box so she could have room to feed all her babies straight away. It's extremely important to get them on a nipple as soon as you possibly can.
Now you know, after reading the comments, what to do if this were to happen again. Give the momma space, leave her alone and let her progress. Yes you can be there watching, just in case. I hope you have homes for all those pups.
I thought you did a great job helping her! She needed it! First litters can be overwhelming for a new mommy! Truly a learning experience for you, mommy And me! Congratulations on the arrival of your Grand puppies!😀❤
I love watching animals birthing. But gee whizz you just keep taking over while the poor Mumma’s trying to give it a go. You’re not letting Mumma bond straight away when she’s birthed them. You can see Mumma’s dragging her Babies out of the towel. The bed is too cramped as well, she should have all her Babies in there with her getting that liquid gold into them. Pretty frustrating…
i don't know much about any of this but i thought you weren't supposed to help unless the mom couldn't or wouldn't do any of it herself the cleaning the pups off and stuff i mean
Just put her in the box she doesn’t need the doggie bed just put her in the box with some pads underneath her P pads, And you should have a heating pad for the puppies after they’re born you lay them on the heating pad to keep warm while mom has the rest of her puppies, in between puppies you should let the puppies suck on mommy it helps stimulate, helps the contractions! Please get the doggie bed out of the box and let the puppies lay on the mommy and the blankets you got there.
I'm a Vet Tech. The dogs bed is Way too small, for giving birth. The first pup needed some help with the Membrane on it's nose Before Birth. Mom should have been left alone, to birth the rest, in a Much Bigger Place. Please throw that gray dog bed away! Anyway Congratulations! They all managed to Survive.
I agree in every point, grandma is a bit to much involvated and place is much to small. Give her room, she's a good mom for her pups. It's overwhelming such a birth and grandma just wanted to help. That's ok. The first one needed it for breathing, but nature is doing right. Congrats to this nice pups!
I knew everything was going to go downhill when she showed the kit that she had to receive the puppies. Clean towels should’ve been more than enough. Next time leave mom alone. Nature is wise. They don’t need humans to help.
You did such a great job 👏🏻 what I would change about what you did is letting the mom do it on her own and only help when she needs it other then that AMAZING JOB
We saw many births of puppys at home, no one intervened like this, these dogs know what to do all on their own! It's one thing to give them a proper place and space but this was way to much!
The dog bed was way too small for starters. I know you think you are doing your best for your dog, but you took complete control. Dogs know what to do and the only intervention should be if there is trouble.
When I saw the alcohol bottle I was like ????? And like others said the moon eats the sac and other placenta parts that come out it’s good for the dog and filled with nutrients that will make her milk more powerful, something stores can’t provide
Dogs giving birth need small, secure areas otherwise they can get territorial... if a birthing mother or new dog mother had too much space she would move the pups to a smaller, more closed off and more easily defendable area. It’s part of their instinct to protect the pups from threats :)
Should leave her to give birth naturally , all mums know what to do, it’s a natural thing to do without so much fuss. Only intervene if there are difficulties.
Mother dogs usually care for their newborns and lick them clean. It may sound gross, but they use the placenta and amniotic sac as an energy source. I know you worried about the first baby, but it was getting blood through the umbilical cord. 20 min may seem like a long time, but a lot of humans take longer to push that baby out.
hmmmmm I get it....but let nature take its course. The dog need to be the one pushing naturally... not have someone come and pull it out or squeezing the vaginal area...it could be painful for her.
Pushing on her own can be waaay more painful, and if she didn’t intervene, that first pup would be dead, since, according to her, it was stuck for around 20 minutes, and no, the umbilical cord wouldn’t keep him alive up to this point since his organism had already shifted to get oxigen by breathing, that is notable by the fact it was purple and not moving for a very long time even when stimulated by both the lady and the mommy doggo.
So many things wrong with this video. To begin with, that bed was WAY too small. You should be there to support, not interfere, with the birthing process.
Why in the world did you not let her do her thing? Dogs instincts kick in and they know what to do. This isn't a human baby where you need to assist. And taking the puppy away is the worst thing you could do. Let the mom do it all!!
I've watched many puppy births and the dogs can usually manage on their own. It even appears as though your intrusion hindered the first one from coming out. Leave her alone... she know how to do it instinctually. And maybe more space for her so the puppies have room to come out.
PLEASE ADOPT! Every year , in the USA, 5 million dogs are put to death for lack of good homes. Let's care for the ones already here. If u really LOVE dogs...
Absolutely beautiful family! I too believe that natural and on their own,for dogs and cats,is better, but owner’s know their dogs and they are THEIR dogs, so if they decide to help out this way, that’s their choice. Mom seemed happy to have the extra help and support. I’m no expert, so this is just an opinion. I’ve read that smaller breeds may need assistance, especially if it’s their first litter. Congratulations to the new family! 🐾❤️🐾
This person wouldn't even let this dog do anything . Leave her alone so she can enjoy having her babies and do her job. The dog now's what she doing and ur not giving her chance to do anything
She has an excellent temprement, and l think she would have succeeded in doing everything herself alone but it was lovely that you could be there for her.
my collie had 6 puppies when she gave birth we left her to it we did not intervene at all so mum & puppies could bond immediately sometimes if you intervene when it is not necessary the mother may harm the puppies or simply abandon them
Do not EVER cut the umbilical cord on the pups like you did on the second one!!!! it could bleed alot and the pup would have lost alot of blod and die!!! the dog could also have bite it worse.. let the dog do everything by it self. and only help open the sack if needed and rub the back on them if needed and help them breath. NOTHING ELSE.
I understand that you have never done that before, and there were situations when you really had to get involved, even if that is not obvious from the video, but here are some thoughts from me: please do not grab and drag the pregnant dog around just for the sake of the video, it was really hard to watch. I also agree with some comments saying that dogs usually know what they need to do, and people should be there just for emergency cases. I think you intervened too many times. Hope next time, if you have to assist again, you will learn from this experience. Maybe dogs don't deserve the same treatment as humans according to some people, but I think they do. Think about that, that you also don't want to be grabbed at your head or leg and dragged, especially when you are pregnant and just about giving birth, just so someone could shoot a cool video.
You were too hands on with her birthing her pups. Dogs already have natural instincts at this process. They have contractions just like people. This was sorry scary to start and then very odd to see you interfering after each birth, not allowing her maternal efforts to kick in on their on, even forcing pups to latch, wow! Also, you never gave any water doing the process, dogs need to hydrate sometimes while this goes on and even have a meal. Birth takes a lot of fuel and you should never pull pups out unassisted by medical professionals. If you were that concerned call your Vet!
@angela scott. Too bad you weren't there, to tell the owner everything she was doing wrong. Why? Why are people being so cruel. It happened and it all worked out.
I'm so confused as to why you felt the need to take over her labor and stress her out? I know it was all done with love, but she was doing just fine cleaning all her babies. I hope all are healthy.
Thank you! This was insane! This is nature you let mum do what she is gonna do if she needs help then you assist. You was sqeezing the baby out like a pimple. There was so many things that could have went wrong. I get u love ur dog but the best thing for the dog u love is to have them fixed so then don't get cancer and you don't put more pups out into the world to be mistreated or not wanted.
The only thing I would say is a bigger bed was needed for her as you was half pushing and pulling on her I know you had to but if the bed was bigger it would of been easier
Wayyyy too much interference. Momma dog needs more room, less handling of puppies, never cut an umbilical cord without clamping it! It has two veins and an artery in it. Puppy could have bled to death. Also, never pull a puppy out... The placenta may still be attached to mom's uterine wall. And the puppies need to start suckling ASAP. It stimulates mom's contractions and expedites the birthing process. A couple of the things that you did could have cost you the life of a puppy or your beloved momma JRT. Try to intervene only in the case of emergency. You'll have much healthier, happier less stressed mom and puppies.
You almost lost that first one because you didn't break the birth sack as soon as you should have. If the airway is still covered when the puppy presents, rip that sack open so the puppy can breath.
I honestly dont know how soon is soon. You think I should have ripped it of as soon as the head came out? Why dosen,t sshe leave the the poor dog alone and let her have her puppies.how would she like to be man handled while in labor?
Should've let that poor dog alone or got a vet. You kept trying to position her for a better camera angle... just so wrong.
Far too much interference from owner. Mother dog can clean up her own pups and they instinctively latch onto the mother dogs nipples.
Beautiful puppies but your messing with them to much. Your dog knows what to do and what order to do. If she has more pups then just sit with her for comfort.
Please let the mom enjoy her motherhood. You maybe trying to help but the mom knows best for her kids
You should let Mom clean them off it gives her extra vitamins so she can take care of the babies. Congratulations on your new puppies
There’s a calcium liquid that you give when labour starts that helps them greatly during birth… let mum do her job only help when needed
Mama,🐶🐕🦮🐕🦺🐩needs a bigger bed for her and the puppies.
I have had my girl give birth to 15pups 2 times.. Do not ever do what u did unless the pup is in danger. Cutting the cord and sack is a no no.. And for God sake let her clean her own pups.. I could not Finnish the video it was so wrong

Why are you interfering in her delivery???? All that is part of of her puppy’s birth , bonding . You areRidiculous
Gheesh. Next time just let her birth her pups. She really doesnt need you to do all that manhandling
I believe cleaning puppy keeps mom busy while in labor on next, placenta should be eaten by mom ( it helps birthing process). Yes can clean out noses if having problems.
They can eat too much of it and them it makes them ill. One or two would be OK but 6 might give her some major diarrhea.
I'm sure everyone is happy and healthy now but she seriously needed a bigger welping box so she could have room to feed all her babies straight away. It's extremely important to get them on a nipple as soon as you possibly can.

I thought you did a great job helping her! She needed it! First litters can be overwhelming for a new mommy! Truly a learning experience for you, mommy And me! Congratulations on the arrival of your Grand puppies!😀❤
Thank you so much!
OMFG I can't watch any more of this. LET THE DOG DO IT ON HER OWN!! And yes that birthing box and bed were way to small.
It would be easier for all of you to get rid of that tiny sleep bed the mother is in.
Why do people feel the need to take control of their pets birthing process? Being there and giving them comfort is fine but let them handle the rest.
I love watching animals birthing. But gee whizz you just keep taking over while the poor Mumma’s trying to give it a go. You’re not letting Mumma bond straight away when she’s birthed them. Whatever breed you "mix" with its always the JRT personality that comes through the strongest
What do u think would have happened if you left her to have her babies without ur assistance? You just would not give her her pups.
Please get a bigger bed, so that you don't have to keep removing the pups!
The bonding process is when mum can lick her babies...she can do it herself....
Why you did not put big bed so she comfortable
Wow, that's a lot of intervention going on there.
We saw many births of puppys at home, no one intervened like this, these dogs know what to do all on their own! It's one thing to give them a proper place and space but this was way to much!
Let nature take its course. Animals know how to give birth by themselves.
Should have given mom a larger birthing area and then LEFT HER ALONE. You took away her joy and bonding time. She knew what to do.
You're interfering with the bonding process!!!
Why did you have her in that bed???? How could she be comfortable and relaxed in such a tight space!!
I am sure she will call you next time, so you can tell her everything she is supposed to be doing. They are turned out great. Beautiful.
Dogs giving birth need small, secure areas otherwise they can get territorial... if a birthing mother or new dog mother had too much space she would move the pups to a smaller, more closed off and more easily defendable area. It’s part of their instinct to protect the pups from threats :)
Her birthing bed was tooooo small for all the activity.
Should leave her to give birth naturally , all mums know what to do, it’s a natural thing to do without so much fuss. Only intervene if there are difficulties.
I can’t get over how the male dog never left the mummy’s side, so cute or what 😘 Six little stunners, didn’t mummy do a great job👏
Just back off and let her do her job, animals know what they need to do. Can’t say it any other way.
She is a good mum thank you for sharing, but I feel you got way to involve with the birth, great job anyway
HERVEY BAY QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA
Thank you so much!
hmmmmm I get it....but let nature take its course. The dog need to be the one pushing naturally... not have someone come and pull it out or squeezing the vaginal area...it could be painful for her.
Pushing on her own can be waaay more painful, and if she didn’t intervene, that first pup would be dead, since, according to her, it was stuck for around 20 minutes, and no, the umbilical cord wouldn’t keep him alive up to this point since his organism had already shifted to get oxigen by breathing, that is notable by the fact it was purple and not moving for a very long time even when stimulated by both the lady and the mommy doggo.
you pestered her far to much
Don't keep messing. Just leave her alone !
So many things wrong with this video. To begin with, that bed was WAY too small. You should be there to support, not interfere, with the birthing process.
THE BREED CROSSING IS APPALLING. NO VET ON SPEED DIAL..AND IT GETS WORSE AND WORSE!
NO KIDDING! What? No dog has given birth on their own? sheesh! talk about INTERFERENCE!
Give the puppy to the mum already !!!!!!!! Omg
I’m so upset the lady keeps manhandling the mom and babies.
Why in the world did you not let her do her thing? Dogs instincts kick in and they know what to do. This isn't a human baby where you need to assist. And taking the puppy away is the worst thing you could do. Let the mom do it all!!
Caray , casi mata a los perritos!! Deje a la perrita hacer su labor! Ella sabe como tratar a sus bebés!!!
If u really LOVE dogs...
couldn't tell which is the mother, the dog or the gloved hands .... cringe worthy video this is....
I agree totally. Dogs knows what to do. Let her do her job for her babies next time.
Troot
I watched this video because I have a jack Russell Pomeranian mix! So happy to see so many babies!
It was cut way too short. could have bled out
We rescued a stray that ended up being pregnant and she gave birth to 8 pups. We kept them all.....❤️
I understand that you have never done that before, and there were situations when you really had to get involved, even if that is not obvious from the video, but here are some thoughts from me: please do not grab and drag the pregnant dog around just for the sake of the video, it was really hard to watch.
I would have taken her out of that bed its a little too small for her to have puppies in.,beautiful babies
I'm getting frustrated with the person in this video they are interfering too much let the mum dog do what she needs to do
You were too hands on with her birthing her pups.
Did anyone teach you if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. Everything went fine.
Shouldn’t you be letting the dog do more for herself and you just help if she needs it?? I had to stop watching the video for that reason, sorry 😞 xx
Yes dogs have been having puppies on their own for centuries and know exactly what they have to do. Unless theyre as dim as their owners.!!
Maybe you should watch from the beginning
idk man every time my dogs gave birth over the years they did fine on their own 👍
Ya THINK?!!!! This person probably thought NO DOG EVER birthed puppies!
What a good mummy, she was licking vigourously to get that first one going
If you can't say nothing nice, don't say nothing at all. Congratulations on the sweet puppies, good job mama.
😊 thank you
@@SuperFurFriends you're welcome
the dog should have given birth the natural way- their way!
Let the mom do her job jeeze
PEOPLE are the bane of animal mothers when NOTHING is going wrong.
Stay out of mommy's way until she needs help. Sheesh 🙄
