The name for Nightwish for their "secret" rehearsal show before the tour, "Nevski and the Prospects", came from the name of the main historical street in St. Petersburg, Russia - Nevsky (or Nevski in Finish) prospeсt".
I think Nightwish also started as a sideproject.. Tuomas had an idea of a small ethereal acoustic band with smooth woman voice.. (i'll search for it) and Tuomas and Emppu walked to ring Tarjas doorbell, if she'd sing some songs with them. Okay, it'll take some few hours, she answered 😂 They weren't even gonna have any live shows.. And the way Tarja sung came as a surprise, too That escalated quickly
"Nightwish was founded in Kitee on 6 July 1996. The band was formed by 19-year-old keyboard player Tuomas Holopainen and guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, who had just turned 18, who asked 19-year-old Tarja Turunen, who they knew from a jazz band at the same school, to sing in their acoustic project. Soon the line-up grew with drummer Jukka Nevalainen and the music changed to symphonic metal. In November 1997 the band released their debut album Angels Fall First and the rest, as they say, is history. "It was a complete whim. It was never really a dream. Pretty soon you realised that this is what I wanted to do in life," says Holopainen, now 44."
Pits and pieces: "Holopainen founded the band together with guitarist Emppu Vuorinen. The next step was to find a female singer, as all their favourite bands of the time had one. Tarja Turunen, who they knew from the school jazz band, came to mind. - I remember walking to Tarja's house in Kitee with Empu, ringing the doorbell and announcing the event. "We have this acoustic project called Nightwish, and we need a singer for three songs. It's probably not going to be anything special, but it would be nice to do a project like that."..... - - Floor (Jansen) will be our last singer, that's for sure, no one can replace him. - It's humbling, for better or worse. We've been through a lot of great things over the last twenty-five years, and we've been beaten up badly a few times. Music and togetherness have always kept us afloat. I hope it lasts for a while," Holopainen sums up. - Holopainen has also been kept busy with other projects during the Corona year: the second album by Auri, the band he formed with Johanna Kurkela and Troy Donockley, and the revived high school black metal project Darkwoods My Betrothed, which is just 23 years since its last album. Each project is united by a burning desire to make music with a particular group, the dynamics just vary. In Nightwish, Holopainen is almost single-handedly responsible for all the creative work; in Auri, everything is done in three parts. In Darkwoods My Betrothed, Holopainen plays and arranges, the others write the songs. "The balance of the three feeds each other beautifully." - - "Art should touch and arouse great passions. There is something dangerous about glorifying the people behind the art." "
If we could only get one of them on our podcast, who would you want?!

At the beginning they are talking about the Nightwish gigs (virtual and the secret gig by the name Nevski & and the Prospects).
