    I might just be reading/hearing this wrong, but for the cuffs, you go from 13 row ends to 26 stitches. Are you doing 2 single crochets matched up with each 1 row from the original panel?

      Go with the standard size and if needed do one round less on the cuffs to shorten the arm span. 🥰

  • @nikkistowe8837
    @nikkistowe8837 6 місяців тому +1

    I just love this Kocoonigan and I have wanted to do it since I first saw it. However, I am brand new to crochet and I haven’t done anything like this before so I have a question.
    I am making the standard size and I had to make do with the yarn I already had. I have Lion brand bulky 6, Premier brand bulky 5 for the secondary color. I also do not have a #12 hook so I am attempting a #10. I have already learned that the tension on the secondary color needs to be supper loose to accommodate the size difference in the yarn. All that mess aside I am confused because I did 45 foundations and it’s measuring at 36 inches. It doesn’t look wide enough so I am thinking I am either not reading the pattern (the one in the link) correctly or my “minor “ changes aren’t so minor. So I guess I needed to ask if I can alter the hook and yarn like I have.
    Thank you again for such a wonderfully beautiful project

    • @lifeandyarn
      @lifeandyarn  6 місяців тому +1

      I’m so excited you are giving it a try! But yes, those changes aren’t very minor! A size 10 vs a 12 mm hook is going to make a huge impact on your gauge (number of stitches per inch) using a smaller hook will give you smaller stitches. There are ways that you can work around that BUT since you are newer to crochet I would suggest getting the larger hook to follow the pattern. I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed on your project!

      @@lifeandyarn ok, so I went to five different stores looking for a #12, the closest I could get was 11.5 😤 and it cost me 13.99!!
      Can you tell me how many inches for length and width I should be looking for on a standard size pattern? If I knew that measurement I feel like I could make this work. It’s going to be denser than yours, but it’s for Northern Canada use so it’s a good thing to be warmer lol.

    • @lifeandyarn
      @lifeandyarn  6 місяців тому +1

      Ugh so frustrating! But the 11.5 should get you close…if you scroll way down in the pattern past the instructions I do have a diagram with all of the panel measurements before and after seaming…for the standard size you will need to hit 45” across, this goes wrist to wrist…there is quite a bit of stretch with this stitch so I wouldn’t make your row 1 that long because it will open up with more rows. I’d say follow the row 1 instructions and see how close you are to the 45”, if needed add a few extra making sure you keep an odd number for your total. 💕

    It would be good idea to show the pattern on the lighter yarn for better visibility, there are no contrast colors.

    Thank you for the pattern and tutorial! I'm a bit confused because you kept saying to have an odd number for your FDC but the petite size says to have 68. Should that be 69 or is the petite size the exception?

      I agree, the Lion Brand website makes it look like you have to buy the yarn to get the pattern but if you click on the pattern button, it does give you the pattern without buying the yarn. I went ahead and bought the yarn anyway because it’s hard to get good selections of any yarn that isn’t the standard size 4 at my local craft stores. I’m really liking the colors I got (saffron for the main color and rose water for the other color).
