As someone with a PhD in cell biology and biochemistry, Rainie is absolutely right about the sexist framing we've had about the sperm and the egg. It's well known in the field. So much so that it impacted our research about fertility and conception. It's really apparent reading old research papers.

I know everyone is making fun of raine, but truly that is how curly hair works. you can't brush when it's dry. and sometimes it gets knotted if you leave it too long.
To be fair, it usually works better if you swap out brushing for like a wide-toothed comb to keep the tangles under control without causing frizz
I only brush mine in the shower when it's slathered in conditioner

Sadly, it only relaunched at certain stores so who knows if he is near one. Hopefully he gets to try it someday though, it's soooo good

These men have to stop assuming Rainie is always wrong and gaslighting her into doubting herself. I can't count how many times the comments for these podcast episodes have been FULL of people verifying Rainie's statements. I wish they could see and acknowledge this pattern. Rainie- I have wavy hair too. What I find works is I have a wide tooth comb in the shower and then I don’t brush it after I’m out of the shower. This should help with the knots!

Same with the wide tooth comb except I use mine just before showering. If I finger-comb regularly between hair washes, then it's easy to properly detangle just before washing.
Rainey is talking about an article I had to read in medical anthropology called The Egg and the Sperm. It's widely known for analyzing and critiquing how male and female bodies/phenotypes are discussed in medical textbooks. Iirc the point is that medical biases can be taught and absorbed through language that might appear innocuous on the surface

Regarding the not brushing your hair: sleeping with a silk bonnet helps SO much to avoid ratnests, and it’s good for your hair in general.
Raine as a lazy girl w curly hair I use a wet brush in the shower after I put conditioner, then at the end of my shower I put my products (leave in and gel) wrapped it w a microfiber a towel and not touch it until I am done getting ready

I agree 100% . Rainie and Miles make me laugh every time. Zach tries to put them down to put the spot light on him. I loved these guys but Zach pulls down the show with his incredible need to be the center of attention

Rainie, when you wash your hair fully detangle it while it has conditioner in. You can use your fingers. They sell brushes too but can start off simple.

Raine is on the right track for wavy hair... but I fully comb mine before washing, then use a wide-tooth comb for spots when needed after it's dry. You absolutely can't be dry brushing wavy or curly hair!
rainie is right!! i have curly hair and you’re not supposed to brush it in between wash days when you have wavy or curly hair!! it’s literally the only way to do it without damage and frizz!

Rainie, fellow curly girl here!! there are likely two main reasons as to why you're experiencing those types of knots: 1) you current curl pattern/structure us just more conducive to knotting and/or 2) your hair isn't as healthy as it could be. there's definitely value to the curly girl method, but you don't have to follow any crazy routines- incorporate what works for you and feels doable! staying on top of split ends would be my first suggestion. your hair is lovely, and i feel like you could find even greater happiness with it!! (also, you're not crazy for finding happiness in brushing your hair less!! i threw my brush away almost a decade ago now and it's worlds healthier than it used to be)

Rainie I totally get you - what helps with our hair type is brushing while it’s wet (hold it away from roots and brush so ur hair doesn’t fall out) so that your hair will dry detangled, without frizz, but still maintain some of the curl pattern. Brushing while dry def makes wavy to curly hair more frizzy but brushing while wet and maybe using a defuser (hair dryer with a thing attached to scrunch your hair) makes it super easy to maintain wavy to curly hair. Love the pod and hope this helps girly ⚡️

Only 7 minutes in roughly and I'm already dead- there's just something a bout the plogs that I love! And, yes, birds do eat the bones, but then they bring th em back up in crushed form as something called a Pellet. That they then kind of throw up to get rid of them every few days. So their body takes the nutrients from them and outcasts them

Rainie as someone with curly hair you are right. I wide tooth comb my hair when wet. Once it is dry I use leave in conditioner to comb fingers through or use the wide tooth comb if it is too knotty.

You don't have to do the full on curly girl method. I have had similar issues with my hair and I LOVE my hair now.
Use conditioner when you shower and comb your hair with a wide toothed comb while it's wet. If you use a hair dryer, use a diffuser. If not, just pull it up until it dries. It will be free from knots and curly.
Comb your hair with a comb, not a brush, when it's wet.
