    I have witnessed this in Africa on a micro-level. I have seen land cleared for agriculture with an immediate drying up of once permanent streams, thus illuminating the only water sources for miles. I have witnessed the shortening of the raining season along with the extension and increased severity of the dry season in West Africa. I have seen the desert expand southward as the savanna turns into desert. The longer term consequences will affect us all globally.

    Thanks to this video about deforestation. This helps us understand the problems that we will face if humans continue global deforestation. It has many effects on animals. It causes of habitat destruction, agribusiness. This will reduced food availability, etc. Let's do our part by sharing this video so people are aware of the problem we will be facing if deforestation continues.

    My response after seeing this video is that I am concerned about the deforestation, because forests play an important role in supporting life on earth. Forests are a source of oxygen that we breathe to survive. There will be many problems that arise if we continue to use the existing forest without replanting it. These problems are like the glass effect that arises from human activities that produce CO2 gas. If deforestation continues, no one absorbs CO2 further, the effect of these greenhouse gases cancels global fires which have an impact on glaciers, drought, forests, causing habitat for these animals to become extinct and causing the ecosystem on earth to become unbalanced.

      and, the number one cause of deforestation is animal agriculture. Stopping the consuming of animals saves forests.

      exactly that's the most important point or cause in this chain of effects, rebeca. especially bc exploiting sentients atrociously as calories converters should be considered as (and it is) the main cause to these consequences bc requires many times the resources amounts or calories inputs compared with many times LESS calories outputs (or it takes many times input plant calories per corpse output calorie (depends on types of organisms how many times, usually is between 15 and 25 times more plants calories to obtain 1 calorie of corpse compounds and tissues )).

    When trees are felled, they do NOT release their carbon into the atmosphere. They do so, if they are burnt, or if they rot. Using timber for long term building material, to name one example, does in fact store the carbon, as long as the wood stays in its form. There are obviously still many reasons why deforestation and industrial scale timber harvestment have some big Issues, but i just wanted to correct this a little.

    What this video mentions only briefly is how not all forestry and logging activities lead to deforestation. Deforestation occurs when the land is converted from forest land into another landuse. This is primarily happening in second and third world where they lack other opportunities for national income such as manufacturing, tech, etc. So land is cleared and converted into other uses such as cattle or plantations. Modern forestry in developed countries is based on 100+ years of science and experience to ensure that we will have forests in perpetuity. There are third party certifications that allow you to see that the wood based products you are purchasing are sourced sustainably. Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) are two of the prominent ones. So next time you see a clearcut, don't just assume that it will never grow trees again, it is more then likely that it will be replanted to grow trees for the next generation.

    • @boardbysled
      @boardbysled 7 років тому +1

      It is also worth noting that if a tree is cut and manufactured into a long lasting product, such as lumber, plywood, etc, that the carbon contained in that product is sequestered from the atmosphere. Then if a tree is planted in the first trees place, that tree will begin using carbon from the atmosphere to grow, all while the first tree's carbon is still being stored in the long lasting product. This means that a properly managed working forest can actually be a carbon sink rather than a source.

    • @Ovalbugmann
      @Ovalbugmann 5 років тому +1

      We aren't talking pine forests here, old growth rainforests flora bio-diversity cannot be replanted, once its gone its gone, too many rare flora and faunas in there.

    • @Keithblazeraw
      @Keithblazeraw Рік тому

      @@Ovalbugmannagree with you on this topic. The amount of diversity in most of the worlds biomasses and ecosystems were built over thousands of years. This is something that will affect us over the long term. We are seeing these affects now with global supply chain challenges and the lack of access to clean water. These ecosystems are vital to survival of our species and every other living organism. Without our diverse ecosystems and biomasses our world and life as we know it would cease to exist. This is the Earths 6th mass extinction event. By 2100 we will see temperatures rise by more than 1 degree celsius.

    Hutan sangat berperan penting bagi kehidupan makhluk hidup. Seperti yang telah dikatakan dalam video tersebut, bahwa hutan adalah habitat atau tempat tinggal bagi 80% tumbuhan dan hewan . Penggundulan hutan dapat menimbulkan efek yang sangat luar biasa. Efek yang akibatkan penggundulan hutan yaitu emisi gas rumah kaca yang menyebabkan efek rumah kaca. Seperti yang kita ketahui, efek rumah kaca berkaitan erat dengan pemanasan global. Oleh karena itu, pemanasan global akan semakin bertambah tiap tahunnya. Selain itu, efek sampingnyalagi adalah kepunahan. Sekitar 4 sampai 6 ribu spesies telah punah akibat penggundulan hutan. Sehingga keanekaragaman hayati dalam hutan tidaklah seimbang.
    Forests are very important for the life of living things. As has been said in the video, that the forest is a place to live for 80% of plants and animals. Deforestation can have biggest effects. The effect from deforestation is the emission of greenhouse gases which causes the greenhouse effect. As we know, the greenhouse effect is closely related to global warming. Therefore, global warming will increase every year. Besides, another side effect is extinction. About 4 to 6 thousand species have become extinct due to deforestation. So that the biodiversity in the forest is not balanced.

Any well educated person won, t be able to answer important information about animals. By making a mandatory subject related flora and fauna ,which should be equally important like maths .
