  • Welcome to my latest video, where I will be demonstrating my recently installed ASIC immersion mining cabinet which is home to my 6 Bitmain Antminer L7 ASICs. If you're looking to make the move to immersion cooling your ASIC miners, this video is for you!
    In this video, I step through my first 4 weeks of immersion cooled mining; covering the noise differences to air-cooled mining inside your home/garage, the noise generated by the dry cooler, the coolant/oil temperatures you can expect to experience and how you can adjust the system for different ambient temperatures.
    I also discuss potential coolant/water leakages and how to prevent them to ensure your mining operation runs smoothly and cleanly from the day 1. I explore the benefits of using a variable frequency drive (VFD) to regulate the dry cooler fan speeds, keep the system cool and minimize the noise generated. I also touch on remote monitoring as the Fog Hashing kit comes with internet-accessible temperature monitoring, configurable temperature shut-off and ASIC-specific power features.
    Overall, my immersion mining cabinet has been performing exceptionally well, with low noise levels, high efficiency, and excellent heat dissipation. This setup is perfect for hot climates (up to 35C/95F) with up to 6 ASICs pulling 3,355W each (e.g. L7 or S19J Pro+ models). If you're in a cooler climate (up to 25C/77F), you could run 6 overclocked ASICs pulling up to 5,000W each.
    I can thoroughly recommend the Fog Hashing (foghashing.io/) equipment and coolant as well as their Australian Distributor, HashX Mining (hashxmining.co....

    Your setup looks really great! I believe immersion and fluid (heat) handling systems are the future for asic mining I play on exploring this world myself when I the time comes

    Nice video. If you can give the cooler more distance from the wall. It will run a cooler..

    2 questions. Do you need 3-phase or how you get 3-phase? What is the power draw of the unit itself aside from the ASIC power?

    What temps are you seeing on your miners inlet/outlets (in their respective dashbaords) when your oil temp is 57C as shown in the video? I assume this is the outlet oil temp, is that correct?

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      Hi Nick, yes correct, that is the temp at the top/outlet side. The ASICs report an inlet of 75C and outlet of 57C (they look the wrong way around as the oil flows from the exhaust side of the ASICs to the inlet side). Interestingly, by the time the oil makes it out of the ASICs and into the drain where the temp sensor is, temp matches the inlet temp of the ASICs.

      @@jsonmurphy That is interesting, most definitely. How are you still liking the machine? Any issues? I purchased the "asicshield" a couple months back. Foghashing was my next consideration and I probably should have gone with this foghashing unit, but there were no reviews or experiences I could find on basically any smaller immersion systems. I was also needing a dual loop cooling system as well. I want to reuse the heat for helping heat hot water for the house and heat in the winter.

    Hey Jason , great video. I’m in Victoria and just GPU mining for now . Where are you at ???

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      Thanks Jay! I'm up in Queensland. You've got better (well cooler) weather down there for mining and can really benefit from the heat generated down there. Up here, its never really cold enough to 'benefit' from the heat, so I was constantly trying to vent it outside. I loved my GPU mining phase - I actually went to turn my GPU rig back on to get into the spec mining space, but it had been left off for so long, when I flicked the switch my PSU popped/died! So I'm hunting around for a cheap one to get the rig up and mining again.

    Great video. Are you circulation the water or does it need fresh cool water supply?

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      Thanks! Both actually. There is a small pump that circulates the water in the dry cooler water curtain. It does splash a bit of water out, so there is also a feed line and float that tops up the tank when it drops.

    How much cost o including the shipping

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому +2

      Around AU$10,000 (US$6,500) inc. Coolant and shipping to Australia. Much cheaper than alternatives I looked into e.g. Engineered Fluid is more than 3x the cost. I have high ambient temps, humidity and salty air to contend with so 6 x ASICs in air cooling would have been difficult to maintain.

    Is there a required minimum speed for the fans? The DC I have is not VFD controlled and it gets "angry" when asked to spin its fans at anything less than 50%

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      Good question. The direction test I ran when setting up the VFD spins the fans at 5Hz (10%) and they spun up fine. Might be the difference between a cheap VFD and a better quality unit?

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      How do you get it to spin at 50% without a VFD?

    • @dimitrikatsaros9212
      @dimitrikatsaros9212 Рік тому +1

      @@jsonmurphy Impressive! Would make it rather simple to start with a small number of miners and build up from there. Does the VFD require three phase power or is single phase fine?

    • @jsonmurphy
      @jsonmurphy  Рік тому

      @@dimitrikatsaros9212 the VFD I have is 3p in 3p out. But you can get 1p in 3p out versions. I'll do some research into the DCX DC and let you know what I find out.
