As a Chinese Buddhist, I would like to comment on this CG. The golden toad at the beginning of the animation (with a coin pattern on the body) represents Yes wealth, and Monk Jinchi has been chasing the golden toad since he was a child. On the contrary, the black bear is more like a Buddhist than he is (the black bear saw the little monk carrying a bowl, thinking that he was coming to beg for alms, so he gave him wealth. Buddhism considers giving and receiving alms to be a kind of practice). Later, Monk Jinchi gradually rose in power and status from childhood to old age, and considered himself a Buddhist leader who was proficient in the Dharma. In fact, the original sin of greed never left him (Buddhists believe that one can find the self through practice, and Christianity is to get rid of original sin). Then it corresponds to the lyrics of the song, "现世报,却方便." The monk thought he had long since gotten rid of the original sin of greed, but the robe triggered a strong desire in him. (As the room burned, the background music was 准提咒, representing the complete explosion of Jinchi's original sin of greed, and he went crazy.) . Finally, the black bear asks Guanyin Bodhisattva that monks are people who get rid of desire and want to eliminate original sin, and why Jinchi monk would be crazy for a monk's robe. Guanyin replied, if he does not wear this robe, how can he prove to all life that he is free of desire? (But he wants all life in the world to think that his desire to get rid of this thing is itself a desire), because human beings cling to the superficial "phenomena" of things, such as people value education, which is really just a certificate.就像《小王子》中的一段内容,If you were to say to the grown-ups: "I saw a beautiful house made of rosy brick, with geraniums(Indian sunflower) in the windows and doves on the roof, "they would not be able to get any idea of that house at all. Here's actual breakdown: The hidden boss of this chapter JinChi(requires you to knock 3 bells to activate) was the monk in this cutscene. When he was young and playful, chased a fog into the forest, accidentally met the bear, the bear did not attack him but thought he was here to beg alms, so gave monk the gold he gathered. This wakes the greed in young monk's heart as he slowly grown to be the master, wearing fancy kasaya, and when he became the head of this temple. He has seen over 200 kasaya, thought he finally puts down the greed and changed into his original simple plain kasaya from the beginning, until one day The Sangzang pass by, and showed him a kasaya he never seen before, then he realised that is not his greed vanished, its the exisiting kasaya couldn't interest him anymore, now there is a better one, he finally knew that after all these years of practice, he still has not changed. This drive him crazy and told his disples Guangzhi & Guangmou to burn the room Sangzang slept so he could take the precious kasaya, but wukong turned the fire against him. Thats the tale told by this cutscene.
The monk is greedy and obsessed with collecting cassocks. When Wukong and Sanzang pass by his temple and stay the night, the monk becomes envious of Sanzang’s cassock. He plots to steal it by setting fire to their lodging, hoping to choke Sanzang. However, Wukong detects the scheme and changed the wind direction making the monk self-immolation.
just for correction, in the novel, the monk suicided by smashing his head on a wall after knowing Sanzang is protected by gods and Wukong was coming for the cassock, and that's why the boss' face is blood-stained in game.
For those who understand mandarin, the song is explained the meaning of the story so well… greed, fame, and anger make people forget what truly matter, make it consume the monk and destroyed himself, in the end what really matter in life is almost meaningless, 1 sentence is very deep its says “100 bad things, but there also 1000 good things/books, the choice is in your tip of hand”

It is said that long, long ago, a young novice monk wandered deep into the forest and unexpectedly encountered a colossal Black Bear Guai. Yet, contrary to expectations, the bear did not devour the monk but instead gifted him a sack filled with gold and silver. The bear then guided the novice to a secluded temple at the foot of the mountain. From a young child, the novice diligently cultivated his practice and eventually became the revered abbot, leading hundreds of monks. He developed a profound passion for collecting kasayas (Buddhist robes), accumulating and wearing countless robes until he believed no other could possibly pique his interest. One day, the abbot met Tang Sanzang, the master of Sun Wukong. Enchanted by Tang Sanzang's exquisite kasaya, the abbot borrowed it. Influenced by the cunning schemes of Guangzhi and Guangmou to steal the kasaya and burn Tang Sanzang's quarters, the abbot's long-dormant desires resurfaced. Consumed by greed, he set fire to the temple, causing the deaths of countless monks. The precious kasaya, however, fell into the hands of Black Bear Guai. Overwhelmed by grief and remorse, the abbot struck his head against a wall, ending his life. Despite years of cultivation under the guidance of the Bodhisattva Guan Yin, Black Bear Guai remained perplexed. Why had the young novice resisted the allure of wealth yet succumbed to the temptation of a mere kasaya? The Bodhisattva Guan Yin smiled and replied, "Without that kasaya, how could sentient beings discern whether their attachments and desires to the mundane world had truly been severed?
There was also a saying that the Black Bear already working for the Guan Yin before she took him in as a disciple. The Kasaya actually has beams that mitigate wind and dust, which would make their trial again the yellow wind sage who attacks with dust storm and wind extremely easy. When Wukong eventually retrieved the kasaya from the black bear, such beams were missing. And Guan Yin who were taking the black bear in said nothing about it.
It's a story about greed. The boy at the beginning is Jinchi, the hidden boss in the old Guanyin temple. He starts with nothing, but with the help of the Black Bear Guai, him makes his way up and becomes the master of all the other monks (like in the boss fight those other monks willingly die for him). Then he starts collecting kasaya, a symbol of status among monks, as he has always been envy of all the other monks with different kinds of kasaya, while he has nothing back then. Then the story of Journey to the West kicks in, Sun-Wukong and his master Tang-Sanzang pass by his temple, and Jinchi sees the kasaya Sanzang possesses which makes all the kasaya he has look like rags. His greed got the better of him, so he sets the temple on fire to burn the two strangers and keep the kasaya for himself. Wukong just lets him do it, protects Sanzang with a powerful item (the same one we get as the destined one after defeating the boss), and calls upon the wind to turn the fire back to Jinchi's own room. In the end, the virtuous monk is burnt alive, leaving behind the strong obsession, and fights the destined one many years later.
For many people who don't know what it is, the black wind bear was the guardian of GuanYin temple, and the little Buddha was a member of this temple. Black wind saved Buddha and he became the chief of GuanYin temple. However, he was corrupted by power and so on black wind. There is just a really short summary, i rly recommend reading the book so that you will have more information from those animes btw, the Buddha is the big golden monk.
@@andrewtyler-vn5iz no there are the same people and the beer talking to are Guanyin she is one of the Buddha god and the beer are the gate keeper of Guanyin home
We seriously need a proper animation series for it ....why has it still not been done is beyond me... It can rock the world of story telling and cinema if done properly
So when the Monk Jinchi was young he was protected and granted favor by the bear spirit. This allowed him to climb the ranks to become Head Monk of the Guanyin's Temple, the Buddha and the master the bear was talking to at the end. While he showed great power and piety he could never dispel his "bear." His lust for gold. When Tang Sanzang visited the temple he was gifted a beautiful Kasaya a monk's robe. He obsessed over its beauty, the status it would grant him, it consumed him, and burn the temple to the ground. Turning him into a vengeful spirit while Wukong watched from afar. That about right?
Actually, he want to steal it from Tang Sanzang, so his apprentice (the wolf demon with flame spear) burned the house where Tang Sanzang was sleeping in to kill him and take the casaya. Wukong overheard the plan so he call a strong wind to save his master and burn the pagoda with Monk Jinchi in it.
He was greedy and wanted to steal Tang Sanzang's beautiful kasaya. Then he set fire to Tang Sanzang's residence. Wukong discovered this plot and blew the fire in the opposite direction. Causing the entire temple to burn down except for Tang Sanzang's residence.
"Bereft of that kasaya, how should they show the world their ties were cut, and their lust is quelled?" That means the mortals only define success by how much fortune do people made. The true Buddhist should show his understanding of the Buddha's teachings and merits gain from helping the suffering beings to deal with their difficulties. Not by how elegant of the cassock, how many followers he had and how magnificent the temple is.
The story is the lust and greed of man have no end. Black bear thought that once he give fortunes to the monk his lust will satisfy not until the monk really found out what he is really lusting for a long time that beautiful golden "Kasaya", that's why the Black Bear is puzzled. Black bear started the fire that killed all of the True monk believers which Elder Jinchi is really regretting for, nonetheless in Elder Jinchi's greed has no end. In the boss fight he is still wanted to bring his Kasaya back.
Sanzang's kasaya is no ordinary one, it was a gift from Buddha himself to the one who will travel west. The wearer of that kasaya cannot be harmed by the elements and he will exist outside of the cycle of existence not able to die or reincarnate. If Sanzang were to wear it all the time his journey would be easy mode. But Sanzang understood well that 81 hardships were integral to the whole journey so he had the good sense to keep the kasaya stored away in his luggage and wear a plain non-magical kasaya for almost the entire trip. Jinchi being also a high monk could immediately recognise the power of that kasaya and understood the standing it grants to a monk wearing it.
this cinematic is based on journey to the west one of four great literature in china (which everyone should know) there has been also a tv show that is basically the entire story that you guys can watch it
I think it is more than greed in this story. The monks used to show their superiority and status through their kasaya. It makes Jingchi obsessed in Tang monk's beautiful kasaya. Originally kasaya should be a symbol of following the Buddhism, but eventually it became a symbol of status, power and respect within the monks. Like people wear Rolex not for knowing the time, but to show-off.

Just a different chapter, not related. Breaking the whole story into chapters is an emulation of the novel, in which the chapters are also loosely related to push the general plot forward. The arrows in his chest in chapter 2 just foreshadow there will be a lot of archer enemies.
It is also possible that some things were deleted from this project, because this company is also making a large-scale game for the first time and may have encountered some problems.
not related, basically the destined one walked off the mountain, explored some other mountains to retrieve relics of the monkey king, then ended up ambushed in the mountain in chapter 2, where it starts.
you mean to tell me this monk was jealous of tang sanzang's drip to the point he's willing to throw away 250+ years of devotion for it? rip bozo, wukong did him a favor!
The only bad thing about this game is the narrative I swear I disnt understood shit till I read the files, but even there I had to read the black bear story from the og opera to fully understand. Anyone with me?
As someone that read the original books, it also requires an understanding of both Buddhist and Taoist philosphies, the game itself is a critique on both. as the original book was a critique on both Taoism and corruption during the time of which it was written when Taoism held sway and the king was so focused on immortality he no longer cared about state affairs.

@@justducky196 I've already seen it. It was really awesome
There is a 1998 cartoon series. You can find it on UA-cam with English sub. It’s old tho.
Allow me to introduce you to Overly Sarcastic Productions
We seriously need a proper animation series for it ....why has it still not been done is beyond me... It can rock the world of story telling and cinema if done properly
2:35 idk y but this part is so good with the chanting
Sanzang's kasaya is the most precious of all, because it comes from Buddha himself.
Wukong teaching his lesson a bit a little too much sometime no wonder some demon have grudges with him.
They tried to screw him over, he returns the favour.
The guy tried to burn his Master alive. The monkey was just doing his job.
@GameLover45408 True, they did try to KILL him and his master after all. 😅
试着把神理解成坏的人类领导者,WuKong是被普通人类驯化的宠物,你的金毛狗为了保护你也会和它的同类战斗😂
Wukong simply live by Fck around and Find out
We need more single player chinese games
We just need more great single player games
This caught me so off guard
This game never fails to surprise me
What a masterclass 😢
"Bereft of that kasaya, how should they show the world their ties were cut, and their lust is quelled?"
That means the mortals only define success by how much fortune do people made.
The true Buddhist should show his understanding of the Buddha's teachings and merits gain from helping the suffering beings to deal with their difficulties. Not by how elegant of the cassock, how many followers he had and how magnificent the temple is.
The root of greed ever fosters the stem of suffering.
I remember the first time i saw this. Beautiful art style.
i cant stop watching it bro
Kasaya is make from garbage pieces of cloth. So the Guanyin answer means a monk need kasaya to pretend their lust was quelled
Jinchi being also a high monk could immediately recognise the power of that kasaya and understood the standing it grants to a monk wearing it.
this cinematic is based on journey to the west one of four great literature in china (which everyone should know) there has been also a tv show that is basically the entire story that you guys can watch it
0:38 is amazing
Missed this cut scene because my son woke up and I had to tend to him so thank you 😅
The music when the boy founds the bear. Wow
I love the piano part at 1:31
0:26 which sutra was recited?
Cundī Dhāraṇī
What is a sutra?

Imagine a Journey to The West anime made by the studio that made Fog Hill of Five Elements
wonderful music, please tell me that chord progression at 2:17
Zhu Bajie was sentenced to a thousand lives where each life would end in a love tragedy.
I did not spend $60 on this game to watch the most beautifully animated music video ive ever seen. But I'm glad I did
This is ART!
So The Monk become Cruella De Vil
"It would be Stunning in Kasaya,I live for Kasaya , I worship Kasaya. " 🚬
Fucking Masterpiece .
The buddhist chant in this BGM is the Maha Cundi Dharani:
Namah Saptanam Samyak Sambuddah Kotinam tayatha Om Cale Cule Cundi Svaha
We need full song of this ending chapter
its in the music library of the game, it’s called “I See”
@@wehafse Oh but how to find it? I already search but didn't have result
Edit: Thanks for name "I see" it
@@TuongQuan. its in the main menu, open music library and keep scrolling till you find it, the cover art is the little monk kid
Is the full ending song called i see? It starts at 3:56
@@TheSinatra Nope. At 3:56 it just continue anime showing at the first video. The song is already start at the first video bro. You can search: "I see" Soundtrack Black Myth Wukong.
This outro slaps. Wasn’t expecting anything of this quality.
Am I the only one humming this song while makeing up Chinese words?
Lol, you got me
It puzzles me too. Game studios should care about one thing: make their games good. Why do they care about something like media reviews or TGA so much?
And here Ms. Guanyin says: it's for the show. How would they prove themselves without those things?
it reminds me one of my peoples' proverbs: "Chiếc áo không làm nên thầy tu."
@@dustin7896 A piece of wisdom my friend
Yall not hearing the music behind this great cutscene
So well done it felt like a classic AAA Disney movie
Shame current Disney songs are mostly girls wanted to be "free"
This game use such beautiful visual to showcase the hidden story to wide player. Then it let us seek further about the legend. I mean the journey to the west is so popular, you can find it everywhere
This game is so good🎉
Esse monge tinha uma Kasaya linda. Era do Urso negro.

Is there a name for that particular Buddhist chant at the beginning?
It called "Zhunti Curse"
or called Cund ī Dh ā ra ṇī in Latin
3:55 🔥🔥
Beautiful scene 😍
what is music name ?
It's "I See" in the Game's OST
The music is too good
2:36 amazing music
Missed the cutscene cause my dad called from jail 😂😂😂
Anyone knows the bgm when the monologue starts at the end? please
mofo's collecting their jordan shoes be like:
THIS DUKKHA IS ON FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Question: How does this lead to when the chosen one had arrows in his chest, the start of chapter 2
Just a different chapter, not related. Breaking the whole story into chapters is an emulation of the novel, in which the chapters are also loosely related to push the general plot forward. The arrows in his chest in chapter 2 just foreshadow there will be a lot of archer enemies.
@@kfh3996so after defeating the bear, it's like a time skip?
It is also possible that some things were deleted from this project, because this company is also making a large-scale game for the first time and may have encountered some problems.
not related, basically the destined one walked off the mountain, explored some other mountains to retrieve relics of the monkey king, then ended up ambushed in the mountain in chapter 2, where it starts.

Música muito boa.
Anyone know the song in the beginning

The only bad thing about this game is the narrative I swear I disnt understood shit till I read the files, but even there I had to read the black bear story from the og opera to fully understand. Anyone with me?
As someone that read the original books, it also requires an understanding of both Buddhist and Taoist philosphies, the game itself is a critique on both. as the original book was a critique on both Taoism and corruption during the time of which it was written when Taoism held sway and the king was so focused on immortality he no longer cared about state affairs.
