Unbelievable!!! My wife calls me at work says the ac JUST ABRUPTLY stopped working and the temperature gauge dropped to C while taking our girls to color guard practice today !!! I came home and im standing under the hood and watching UA-cam and here i am . THANK YOU BROTHER!!! This is so appreciated. The other option was the compressor sensor on the ac compressor but it don’t explain engine temp gauge not working. 1 question, HOW DOES THIS ENGINE TEMPERATURE SENSOR effect the AC also ? Im really confused on this part. I am a backyard mechanic on family vehicles and learn as i go on UA-cam so I’m not naive to mechanical things. But this has me on the wall.
Just wanted to say thanks for the video, I had the exact same problem and the mechanic wanted to change my compressor and condenser! I went looking for a solution and came across your video. Thank again
There’s a much easier way to do it from the top. Take the intake tube off and the engine cover and you can reach it no problem. No lift, no tire and tierod removal necessary.
2015 Equinox is giving a P0480 code. Change the Jcase 30 Amp fuse and a relay. Fan not coming on. The ac works. But it's like the temperature doesn't even got to halfway mark. Is it the fan itself?
If your temp gauges works properly and it’s full of coolant CB Lear the codes and get it hot and turn the ac on the fans should come on with it hot and ac on if the fans never come on smack the motors with small hammer a little bit if they still don’t come on probably the module , u can test each motor by applying 12 volts and ground to each motor
I have all these dame issues, I replaced the sensor and still same thing, do I have to give it time? Take it out and out it back again? Maybe it's not in tight enough? What are the chances this sensor went bad because I plugged it in ( the wite harness) while being wet with coolant
UPDATE ..... I just did this repair last weekend 6-17-23).... worked great for a week....and this frigging morning ... bamn! On the way to work...the temp needle dropped and no ac again... no check engine light...plus fans stay on for a few minutes after the car is off.... ugh.... what now buds...?
I do it from the top and purchase anything but a GM part(1-2 yr warranty). I just did this 2 times with a GM part (lasted 1 yr and 2 months on the 2nd sensor). Purchased another brand with a 5 yr warranty since these seem to fail since they are close to the exhaust and all of its heat.
I just changed my sensor the way you said and when I started it up still warm air. Then I started it again in like 10 minutes and let it run for a few minutes and then boom it started blowing cold and the temp gauge started working again. Is this normal or could it be another issue
Replace your thermostat. It's almost never the coolant sensor when you get that code. Chances are the rubber seal on the thermostat is worn out and leaking.

If the pcm doesn’t read the temperature or it’s to high pcm shuts down the ac so it doesn’t put more strain on the engine
Mine just started today thx
The pcm thinks overheating so it shuts off ac and turns fan on max

Well thank you
what are the odds that i had this problem today looked on UA-cam and found this video.....the internet is amazing
That’s is great thank you
I’m glad I could help if you haven’t subscribed please due
Great video 👍
Also by the end of the video I've realized i started getting major Norm Macdonald vibes 😔

Whats the normal operating temperature on this suvs? Because i drove mine 3 hours and didnt go over 169 degrees. Is that bad? Running cold?
@@christianc1282 did you drive with a scanner to make your dash gauge is correct if so the thermostat is bad also

Disconnect the battery
@@richierock1300 and then re connect? does that re set the sensor?
Yes for some weird reason yes
I know this is so long ago but in case you still check the comments, how much would the total repair cost be for this?
1 hour diagnostic and 1 hour repair and parts like $100depending where you live $350
I have this exact issue in my 2011 equinox right now but I've replaced the sensor and the connectors and it didn't resolve the issue.
Any part number? Nice video ...👍

Pretty sure that was normal sounds very familiar I had to clear the codes before it worked
Or possibly the plug is loose? Losing connections...may need to zip tie it or use silicone or something
I just changed coolant temp unit and it didn’t help.
@@merrillthompson8443 disconnect the battery
Disconnected the battery and it worked, thanks for the advice.
