@@noir499 I think her debut song was Ussewa on her YT channel. Before that are all, technically covers and so forth means predebut! You should definitely check more of her songs and covers!
This song is a cover of a song by Ringo Sheena, whom ADO admires. The song was written by Ringo at the same age that ADO is now, and she sings the song with a bit more emotion and the same lyrics, but with completely different sentiments. ADO also used her tremendous vocal technique to enhance the song's value as a song. Ringo's emotional transitions and ADO's vocal expression: two very different approaches to the same song at the same age.
Both are incredible, honestly.

It's really a great cover version which let's Ado's voice shine. Sheena Ringo's original is amazing as well btw, especially her live rendition from the Rock in Japan festival 2015. And yeah, Blondie's great too. 🙂

Quick note as I haven't seen anyone mention this but Ado got to work with Shina Ringo on her song "missing / 行方知れず", where Shina provided the Lyrics and Midi. It's one of those incredible moments where an incredible musician gets to work with the person they admire so greatly, she's already worked with so many that she's a massive fan of, but I felt this time it was incredibly poetic given how long ago she did that cover, and just how much passion she put into it.

I would highly recommend a singer by the name Hanatan. In particular "O light" and "The girl who sells misfortune" by KikuoHana (made by Kikuo and sung by Hanatan). The songs are quite odd, but Hanatan's voice is just so good.

If you like this particular performance, then I'm 99% sure that you would definitely like Minami 's song as well especially "Hollowness" because they have the same uniqueness on how to play with the emotion of the listener/viewer. The only difference is that Ado's song is more of a over the top "Attention grabbing" performance and Minami is more on "playing with your heart" or what people say "hitting right in the feel" kind of performance or at least that's how I differentiate both of them at the moment. I also wanna know what people think about "Minami" and "Ado" in terms of their songs.
Definitely give Hollowness a listen, and especially pay attention to the lyrics and theme of the song as well as the vocal performance. It's breathtaking.
I love Minami and Hollowness is a must.

Wonderful video! It’s nice to have a professional explain what’s going on vocally for those of us not apart of the singing realm. Also a side note, I believe the original song by Sheena Ringo does have a more typical resolution, for some reason Ado just ends her version differently and more abruptly
What makes me sad is that ADO isn't appreciated as much as she should be by people who reacts to music or music coach/teachers. Ado is an insane girl and she is currently 21yo, she started her career as a yutate (basically a person that has a anime character as a persona on the internet and sings) when she was 14yo. Her song usseewa was debuted when she turned 18 years old.

You can find a live version by the original artist "Sheena Ringo" in her "Gekokujyo Xstasy" concert on UA-cam (at 59:00). Ringo's vocal was less complex and less extreme than Ado's, but still very effective, especially live with her mesmerizing stage presence.

If you still compare Ringo Shiina and Ado, then you need to take the performance of this song by the young Ringo Shiina, I had difficulty finding it on UA-cam, this is a clip, but it’s clear what Ado was inspired by: 椎名林檎 - 罪と罰 (I give the name, I don’t know if direct links are possible here)
Katriinka! I know it might not get many views, but I would absolutely love if you could react to Sheena Ringo herself as she is definitely a OG jpop goddess. She recently came out with a new album filled with duets with other famous female jpop singers (not including Ado sadly), so I think it would be a good opportunity! My favorite rendition of Crime and Punishment, the song Ado covered, is from her 2015 concert "Night Parade of Demons and Ghosts" which is up on her youtube channel, the video is titled "椎名林檎 - 罪と罰 from百鬼夜行." I think you will also absolutely love this performance, I always get shivers all throughout the song. Another classic is her chaotic duet with Hiroji Miyamoto titled "椎名林檎 - 「獣ゆく細道」 from (生)林檎博’18." My personal favorite song is ギブス(Gips) from 2000. This live performance is really touching to see how Ringo at a young age could sing such a raw song "椎名林檎(SHIINA RINGO)-ギブス(LIVE)." I hope the copyright yt gods will allow this 😂

You should really give Ado's eien no akuruhi a listen, if you haven't already. It’s my favorite song of her’s, so emotional and truly so beautiful. It's also a rare calmer song from Ado, and the way she sings there is a total contrast to this cover of hers. Her range amazes me, much like everything else about her. What an insane talent.
I do worry about her hurting her throat in the long road, though, with all the crazy stuff she does. Teens think they are invencible, so I do hope she has a good coach by her side lol
