Only Aretha can make me stop doing whatever I'm doing and completely concentrating on the music. Her energy is unbelievable. I would love to see her live!
I love the way the band is playing this song. Out of all the times I've heard Aretha sing this song live to me this is the best agrangment they've come up with. They gave it more of a deep bluesy sound.
Stage presence personified. Doesn't need elaborate gimmicks, back-up dancers etc. She pauses in the middle of the song for 3 seconds and the entire audience is captivated wondering the next few notes that will come out of her mouth. Amazing.
the upper range is still there, anyone that says she was off her peak in 2007 is lying, i thought her peak was the 1990s diuvas concert, a rose is still a rose, but years later she still has that upper power, still makes my skin tingle :)
Aretha worked the hell out of that song! YEAH BABY! 65 and working it like that! I love when she sings in her natural voice. None can touch her when she does that.
I love when she sings this song cause she always sings it in her natural voice, which is what I like the most. Plus I think her voice today has a more bluesy sound that works great for this song.
Her natural voice was so rich! She used falsetto a lot in her later years which can be appreciated. But when you hear her natural voice you hear the soul in her a lot. I hate she didn’t use it as much.
@@tyquaunopelika When she stopped smoking in the early 90's her voice started to clear up in 1994. Then in 1995 is when the falsetto came around. Her singing falsetto worked on a lot of songs, (recorded & live) but there were many songs I think she should have just sang in her natural voice all the way through in her older age. Like chain of fools. But I think Aretha preferred singing falsetto because it brang back her upper register that she was always known for in her younger years. But I gotta say she was pretty blessed when she stopped smoking and her voice cleared up for the most part. Cause singer or not when people are heavy smokers for many years even after they stop the voice does not change for the better.
faznout EXACTLY! Her full voice is a darker tone but it’s evident that she still pretty much sounded the same. She still could belt in her natural voice. They were powerful just not as high. Her natural voice takes away any doubts concerning her vocal abilities. I think she used the falsetto a lot on the Jump To It album. It worked then. Overall, she was the best singer ever hands down. Over all timing, range, runs, and something that we say in the church, OIL! That set her apart from those around her. I hate when people compare her to other singers because they simply cannot compare.
@@tyquaunopelika, I don`t believe Aretha used falsetto on the Jump to It album . Actually she used very little if any falsetto before 1995 . She relied more and more on the falsetto after 1995 and thinking back over those first few years after 1995 it really may have been her head voice or a mixed voice more so than falsetto but later I think she went mostly falsetto . Once I got used to the falsetto, it was always still a treat whenever she sang in her still beautiful natural voice (like the 2015 Kennedy Center performance )
I doubt it ! She is so rich she doesn't have to record. But, she does study opera and other interests. Shortly, after her entry into secular-music, she went back to her father's church; he was the famous Rev. C.L. Franklin. They recorded the record live and it has sold more albums, and is continuing to, than ANY gospel album--ever. That's one record . She'll be missed by many of us cause she's the only one who still sings like this.
The queen had a cold during this performance and she STILL nailed it. True artistry. Total professionalism. Always a class act..
Tbh I loved the huskiness of her voice that night. No matter the circumstance (I believe she had a cold) she still did the damn thing.
