Allen + Roth Eastview 23" ceiling fan in aged bronze. This is the first of many ceiling fans I found in the trash during Cleanup Week 2016. I have no idea what the story is with this fan, it works perfectly and the design is perfectly on trend, so it's pretty strange that it was thrown out. It did seem that the battery in the remote was dying, which caused it to only work intermittently, and perhaps the previous owners thought something more was wrong with it. IDK, if a fan doesn't work right, remote control batteries are one of the first things I'd check. It was a bit scratched up, so I had to do a couple quick fixes on the finish, but otherwise it was just dusty and cleaned up nicely. It's a well-built unit for sure, I'm not disappointed by it at all. It's essentially a high-end HV portable fan mounted inside, so the air movement, while very direct underneath the fan, is quite impressive.
I love my ceiling light/fan so much. Thanks for the information about changing the light bulbs.
That thing is INSANE ON HIGH!!!!
Ok help I bought a house it has this exact fan it it. How do I change the light bulbs? My fan has at least a 40 maybe a 60 watt bulb it's driving me nuts!! I don't care I need a 100watt bulb... Please help....
There should be removable panels on top of the fan, if I remember right they're held in place with screws. I also believe the sockets are candelabra base, so you're not going to be able to do much better than a 60 watt bulb (incandescent). If you're looking for more light output, I'd suggest looking at dimmable LED options. You'll want to look for ones with the greatest lumen output, as opposed to higher wattage.
This fan has a remote control. Pressing one direction causes the fan to flow down and pressing the opposite arrow, causes the fan to blow upward.
Just be grateful you finally have an Allen + Roth Fan.
I wasn't really looking for one, but it's pretty clearly made by Fanimation so I'm not disappointed.
Can bulbs be replaced with LED? Instruction manual does not show best method to replace. We have had the fan for a while and only one bulb remains. Thanks for your help.
Yes, LED should be compatible. There are little removable sections on top of the fan that the sockets are attached to, held in place with screws. Loosen the screws, and you should be able to lift them out.
Where can I buy a bulb replacement and any chance they work with smart bulbs? Thanks!
Any candelabra base bulb will do, I don't remember the max wattage but it should be listed on the little bulb hatches on top. I'm not sure how the remote would cooperate with a smart bulb, mine has been a little problematic with LEDs on their own occasionally.
Worst case scenario, I'd just bypass the receiver and hook the light wire directly to the incoming hot (which is feeding the receiver) at the ceiling. You could keep remote function of the fan that way, but the smart bulbs would just have straight power to function as they need to.
Is there a tutorial on how to change the bulbs in this fan/
There are small panels on top that the sockets are attached to, you can't miss them if you get up there. Back out the screws holding them in place and they'll pull out so you can change the bulb.
@@vfandm Thank you so much! Love LOVE LOVE my fan!
How do you change the light bulbs how do you get to the light bulb???
There are little hatches secured in place with screws on the top side of the drum. Remove the screws, and the sockets will lift out with the little metal door.
I bought this same exact fan used on beg barter but can't figure out how to change the light bulbs now that the electrician already installed it high up on my porch ceiling. Any idea? Thanks
There are little hatches held in place by screws on top. Once the screws are removed, the hatch lifts out with the socket attached.
We have this fan in the home we just bought. The previous owner did not leave the remote. What it the best replacement remote to buy so this fan will work? Only the light works off the wall switch.
You can replace the entire thing with any other basic 3 speed/light remote kit from the hardware store. Harbor Breeze, Hampton Bay, I think even Hunter's receivers would fit in the canopy now. You'd have to replace the receiver inside the canopy at the ceiling with the one from the new kit, but that would do it.
You could also contact the original manufacturer, Fanimation, at 888-567-2055 or fill out the product support information at the bottom of this page: www.fanimation.com/product-support/ and see if they have a replacement handheld unit. I'm not sure if they still have the correct controls as it's been a number of years, you may also have a newer fan so who knows. I'd just see what their solution is if you go this route.
After working fine for a year the fans still work although the lights will not stay on. When you press the light butto or flip the switch they go on for about 1 second then disappear. What is going on? They worked perfectly for over a year. I changed the bulbs and that did not help. Same problem. We love these fans(we have 2) but we are frustrated. What can we do to fix the problem?
I'm not entirely sure, but it sounds like an underlying issue with either a wattage limiter or the remote system itself. You aren't using bulbs greater than the specified wattage, correct? I'd have to believe these fans utilize the mandated wattage limiter, which can turn the lights off if you're using too high of wattage. It could easily be malfunctioning and shutting them off regardless of the bulbs used; I don't know if the limiter is in the remote receiver in the fan's canopy or somewhere in the motor housing. I would first suggest calling or emailing Fanimation, they are the maker of this fan, to see what they can do for you. www.fanimation.com/product-support/
The only thing I can really suggest without troubleshooting myself is try replacing the remote kit. Most of the generic ones in the home centers will work fine, they don't have to be Harbor Breeze or Fanimation brand. I'd probably avoid the ones made by Hunter for this fan though, the receiver often won't fit inside the canopy. If that doesn't change anything, there is likely a deeper issue with either an internal wattage limiter or some wiring issue, which would mean taking the fan down and doing some deep disassembly to resolve which is why I really suggest trying to work with Fanimation first and foremost.
Hi. Help!!! how can i clean it?
There are six screws around the perimeter of the bottom grille, removing them and the grille should give you enough access to do some basic cleaning.
I bought this fan , allen + roth, about 5 years ago. It stopped working but I didn't have time to deal with it. I finally checked hte wires and everything else. Not working. Maybe it's the remote. How do I get a new one? I see comments about Fanimation. Do they manufacaturte the same product or is it a subsidiary? I don't really understand. Thanks. DOn't want to throw the fan away if I don't have to.
It is manufactured by Fanimation using their overseas factories, and labeled for Allen + Roth / Lowes. They also made the same fan under their Studio Collection label for a short time. You might have to get an entirely new remote kit for it, I'm not sure if they still offer a compatible replacement. But Fanimation should be able to help and take care of it if you get in touch. They still make some fans very much like this one, so they'll have an option for you.
@@vfandm Thank you. I haven't tried changing the battery in the remote yet. I'd be fine without a remote and using the wall switch. But no power going to the fan.
Ok HELP!!! I have this fan. I bought it and then had a lot of deaths within my family including my husband's sudden death. This was several years ago. A friend of mine graciously took on this chore for me. The only thing is I'm not sure if the blades are turning the correct direction for warm weather rather than cold weather and I live in Arizona so it definitely needs to be on the warm weather setting. Furthermore I can't figure out where in the world the switch is to change the direction if I need to. I could desperately use your help ASAP. It is already crazy hot over here in these here parts!! Thanks so much for your help!!
These fans are not reversible, so it should be running downdraft. The air movement is very direct, you're only going to really feel a breeze directly underneath the fan.
The fan is directly over my bed and I feel nothing. Plus according to the guy at Lowe's it is turning the opposite direction, (counter
clockwise) of what it should be turning in the interest of cooling. That being said, the Lowe's employee did not really seem reliable. Do you still have your manual? Mine wasn't supposed to be "open box" but it seemed to be, being that the manual/installation guide was missing. Are you absolutely sure that the direction isn't adjustable? This is seriously bad news if true :(
I found my fan used and in the trash, I've never had a manual for it. I did however tear it down completely to clean it and there is no reverse switch anywhere on it.
These fans are somewhat atypical and should turn clockwise to push air downward. If it's turning counter-clockwise, it would indicate something mechanically going wrong with the fan, and I would suggest you contact Fanimation product support to see if they'll be able to help you. Allen + Roth labeled the fan for sale under their brand, but Fanimation is where this design originated and they provide better product support: www.fanimation.com/product-support/
I own this fan and yes there is a reverse switch on mine. It is mounted on the top of the fan near the downrod. I have the Fanimation version which is identical to the Allen Roth which is in this video.
I know the Fanimation Beckwith is reversible, however I can't find anything that lists this model as reversible. It doesn't make any sense. I don't know why such similar fans from the same OEM would be different in this way, but there is absolutely not a reverse function on my fan.
I have this fan, and when I replaced the bulbs, one popped and tripped all the lights off. The fan still works, but the lights won't come on. Is there an internal fuse that I can replace?
No, as far as I know there is not any fusing, etc. Probably blew out something in the remote receiver, you could try replacing the entire remote system.
Yup, I disassembled the receiver-burned put a capacitor. I googled the model number of the receiver and found a replacement on Amazon for $30. It’s fixed now.
Ok help again how do I program the remote? I have that exact remote when I change the battery It stop working. I have 4 toggle switches in the back of mine. Help
The switches in the remote need to match the ones on the receiver inside the canopy at the ceiling, but if the remote doesn't light up when a button is pressed it's probably an issue contained to the remote. If nothing else, the entire remote control system, including the receiver at the ceiling, can be replaced with any brand's generic 3 speed remote kit (Harbor Breeze, Hampton Bay, etc.). You may also consider contacting Fanimation tech support at 1-888-567-2055 for direct suggestions from the manufacturer.
Reminds me of a Fanimation Beckwith.
It certainly should since Fanimation made it, the overall basic structure is essentially the same.
How do you replace the light
There are little hatches on top of the unit. Remove the screws holding them in and they will lift out with the socket attached to replace the bulb. There should be a more in-depth comment on this video if you need more specific directions.
Does anyone have one for sale? The design is perfect for my hallway!
How do you reverse air flow
If you have a reversible model, there will be a small black switch mounted near the motor on the top side of the fan. If no switch is present, you probably have a non-reversible one. Evidently both exist.
@@vfandm thanks for your help
What's the weigh on this fan
I don't know, maybe 30 pounds. It's pretty heavy for what it is.
wouldn't make a bad pedestal fan!
We lost our remote - help!
I would contact the original manufacturer, Fanimation, at 888-567-2055 or fill out the product support information at the bottom of this page: fanimation.com/product-support/#tech-support and see if they have a replacement handheld unit. I'm not sure if they still have the correct controls as it's been a number of years, but they may have a specific replacement kit or some other specific information. I would have the model number LP8074SLAZ handy.
