The fact he is SURPRISED by people praising he scenario and construction of it makes me sad, especially that the multilayered formation of the scenario and it's impact through player's experience is even more valuable than music that gathers so much trophies.
+JannetFenix Yeah, even if the games he worked on were considered mediocre because of their gameplay and lack of budget, the stories were always praised by the fans. That's why Drakengard is considered a "good game", even with its terrible gameplay.
Or actually, a Drakengard 1 remake would be the best. Imagine that story with Platinum working on a brutal hack-and-slash gameplay + functionning flight mode. That would be amazing omg...
I thought that point of Drakengard 1 was to be opressive in atmosphere and bland in slaughter that only a madman would stand. I doubt a better mechanics are enough to fix that, if the message is to be a cacophony.
That translator was incredibly talented. The guy asking questions didn't even try to make the questions reasonably short for her to remember, translate, and speak again. She did an amazing job considering the lack of consideration on his end. Still, thank you guys for having them on, and I appreciated the kind of questions he was trying to ask, he just should have put some thought into how to simplify them as much as possible beforehand.
@@nickishar1772 the fact that someone gets paid for their job doesn't means that you shouldn't try to make it easier for them. it's like, basic consideration. The kind you expect to see it in every adult.
fatalfeline The interviewer's questions were also poorly constructed, which made it difficult to understand what he was even asking. Instead of asking a long-winded, leading question, it would be easier and more effective, imo, to ask a more open-ended question, such as, "I like what you did with the open world design, could you speak to what your process was in creating it?"
Gotta love how the Emil head is resting on the table meaning Taura has to puppet it very obviously with his hand. Also gotta love how that implies that Taro is hiding under the table whilst doing this interview. What a blessing.
Taro-san is too humble! It kinda makes me sad when he brushes off compliments or talks bad about his own input into the game, because he did such an amazing job with the story and characters. I hope that deep down he knows he did well and is proud of his success. It wasn't just Platinum Games that made this game a masterpiece Yoko Taro, it was you too!
As someone who understands Japanese, Yoko Taro is absolutely hilarious. What a champ, he speaks in a kind of socially counter intuitive way a lot of the time which I love so much!
I would actually say that amusement park feels 'detached' like a dream is, not 'lively'. The colour scheme, dimmed lighting, robots doing their thing in bckground, but lacking 'life' regardless. It's amazing.
I'm really looking forward to whatever else Taro-san is putting together in his head for his next project. I want it to be what he's conceptualizing in his mind.
You're in the same room as Yoko Taro and you're asking him questions like "How hard was it to design a non-hostile NPC?" There are WAY more interesting things you could be asking about.
I can't wait to see what Taro does next and i hope he works with Platinum games again. Nier Automata is one of my favorite games even after I platinumed it. I'm sad that I haven't gotten to play Drakengard 3 or finished the first Nier game but I hope one day he might remaster them all and I can play them all again X3. I also hope if we do see a new game form him we see his own personal Universe Expand again. Seeing the story from Drakengard 1 expand into Nier Automata is an amazing sight to behold. Personally though I know that Taro would like to make a game where you don't need to kill so maybe one day he could make a farming simulator or sorts in the Nier or Drakengard universes X3
decusq currently yoko taro is working on a Japanese mobile game call sinoalice. Funny enough the premise of the mobile game was based on the original premise of the first nier game which was based on he idea of distorted fairy tales. It’s why in nier the bosses are named after fairy tale characters.
Taro stated in past interviews that he has 0 desire for doing remasters. The rationale being, “they have a special place in history, no need to bring them up again.” Personally, I’d love for Drakengard to get remasters since I never played any of them, and being as I played NieR earlier this year.
NieR: Automata really has a little bit of everything. Yoko Taro is an obvious fan of the history of gaming, with so many clever nods. And he is not afraid to fuck with the gamer's head. So many moments of what-the-fuckery on display that make you question your own existence and why you even playing games in the first place. Great characters, solid story, humor, tragedy, gameplay, design, and soundtrack. What else can one ask for? Even the character progression system and UI of the menus were all thematically in sync with the story!! Jesus Christmas!! As someone who has been gaming since 1983, this game has been an absolute highlight for me. Top 5 of all time, rough edges and all (because sure, the graphics were not the best, and some parts were a bit tedious). Haters will hate, but I have no doubt the game will stand the test of time and be heralded for it's originality and synthesis of concept and game design. Truly mind-blowing stuff.
I love seeing these guys. Yoko Taro being weird as hell and Takahisa Taura just rolling with it, while making a really great game. They're really an example of what developers should be like.
+Christopher O'Grady - Not mine... but unforgettable. It's one of the most significant and ground breaking I've ever played, and it has some incredible heart.
Yoko Taro, our local cryptid, is a true icon. I gotta agree though that the questions asked were just, bad. Besides being long, the topics were poorly chosen. Like asking about problems in programming related to nonhostile robots when earlier they mentioned the bug where 9S would attack The call from 6O could have been a great way to open up a conversation on character design or something
+AkiraBlue - was thinking exactly the same thing about the choice of topics and questions. A lot seemed odd and didn't really do this game or its directors justice, let alone Gamespot or any of the fans of this game that made it through to ending E.
I dont care for the sequel of neir automata i think the ending is pretty much satisfying i think he should just do what ever he wants like creating a new game a new one
I think there is something wrong with you if you found the amusement park colorful and uplifting xD That was literally the only part of the game that kept following me into my nightmares, lol.
Karl Magnuson Haha I sold the game when I finished it .. then I regret what I’ve done so I managed to buy it again and I went through a lot of struggles ( because the game is banned in my my country) but finally I got it and I’m playing it again!

+Better to bend than to break no, not with real money lol. With the in game currency. It's a way of making fun of completionists by showing how pointless the trophies are. Pretty sure the vendor who sells them even says "oh yeah I got these useless things lying around" or something to that effect.
2B Played it. It's overrated as hell. Had to stop at the 3d playtrough because I was not interested anymore. The concept is cool but the writing it's as always japanese-cringe. Music is amazing but that's kinda all for me.
I hate it when someone attacks the non hostile robots... I nearly cried at my last run through the amusement park when I accidentally shot one of the robots there because I for whatever reason missed the dash button...

I know you're doing a role play. But 2B it's not overrated. SPOILERS: 2A and 9S are the main characters... "2B" (if you know what I mean) its just the gap between the player and the story. But in the ending C or D A2 explains the purpose of 2B's mission.
