Hey Levy, I just wanted to share a quick story with you. I actually started playing chess after I fell off my bike. I was all scraped up, barely able to move, and just stuck at home with nothing to do. That’s when I decided to check out your videos. Honestly, what really got me into it was how you talk about chess like it’s a boxing match. Like, every move is like throwing a punch, and you’re backing up your opponent into a corner. That made chess feel way more exciting than I ever thought it could be. chess gave me something to focus on, and it just clicked. Now I'm close to 1500. So I want to thank you for making chess so cool and approachable. You really helped me find something new to get into when I needed it most
Very similar story however I liked how he gave the game a military feel as if the games were battles or wars. I haven’t reached 1500 yet though. I’m at 1200 but that’s from 250.
"The Norwegian Red is a modern composite breed. It was formed in 1961 by merging two existing Norwegian breeds, the Red Polled Eastland or Østlansk Rødkolle and the Norwegian Red-and-White or Norsk Rødt og Hvitt Fe. Each of these two was already a composite breed: the Red Polled Eastland was recorded from 1892 and later underwent cross-breeding with Swedish Red-and-White and Ayrshire, with some influence from the Dutch Black Pied;[6]: 98 the Norwegian Red-and-White, established in 1939, also derived from cross-breeding of Swedish Red-and-White and Ayrshire, but had absorbed the Hedmark and Red Troender. The Red Troender, in turn, derived from cross-breeding in the nineteenth century of local Troender and Røros cattle with Ayrshire stock; it had later absorbed the Målselv (Målselvfe) breed of Tromsø and northern Norway.[6]: 98 The Dølafe, originating from local cattle of south-east Norway, Telemark (Telemarksfe) and Ayrshire, was merged into the Norwegian Red in 1963.[6]: 46 It was followed in 1968 by the South and West Norwegian or Sør og Vestlandsfe, which had been created in 1947 by fusion of the Vestland Fjord (Vestlandsk Fjordfe), the Vestland Red Polled (Vestlandsk Raudkolle) and the Lyngdal (Lyngdalsfe).
I’ll never understand why all chess matches and videos don’t give the casual fan more stats. H2H, world rankings, common opponents, white/black splits, semi-final appearances, etc etc Appreciate the commentary.
Just a small appreciation for the new chessly website and How great It is. I've been studying the Owen's defense on a free trial completely for free, never have I seen a website do that. Amazing work put in by you Lev. You really put in the work and you deserve to charge money for it and It shouldn't be free (For people who said so). This might mean nothing to you but I've Been waiting for a new Upload to comment this. Have Good one
2:19 What about Ruy Lopez?😢 18:21 Magnus is like those tv series villains. In a perpetual plot armor, never gets caught no matter how close the protagonists get to bagging him.
The tactical justification is the checkmate in 3 moves, which means that black cannot capture the queen, which means that you win the rook for free. Checkmate in 3 moves isn't the same thing as getting the rook because a recapture would lead to a checkmate in 3 moves.
if you sac the queen for the rook, Black queen just takes white Queen. If you move your rook to the back rank, the black queen protects it. There was nothing there other than a loss for magnus.
Magnus and Maxime's blunder at 27:00 surprises me a lot. Even more so when I think about the 1600, 1800, 2000 that I face, who always find the best moves, as difficult as these, even more so with little time on the clock. Are they people or engines that I'm facing?
theyre people, he blundered a basic backrank. While its rare for GM’s to mess up this badly, it does happen. Hikaru blundered a M1 a few months back and then his opponent blundered back by not playing it. These things happen lol
I know I cant really impact anything, but if I could recommend an opening I would like to see on chesly, the it would be the slav, especially the semi slav. The pawn structures can quite similiar to carro kann, but there is also some crazy attacking lines like the anti moscow. But thats just my humble opinion.
Hello levy , i don't know why everyone is saying it was mate in 3 or 2 , when it was not . Because after Qxf8+ , opponent can go Kh7 to avoid checkmate . Then it was just material gain and major positional advantage , even though which is still definitely winning in other manner !!
@iBlameEverything King is not supposed to take the queen brother . Just slide to h7 square , and avoid checkmate . Even though it was still a highly losing position.
I got the Chesly and I will say that I improved just by learning one opening in four days, of course I have to learn more, but it really is a awesome course for beginners like me 🎉
I had a question (idk if anyone will see this) but what would you do, if your playing against someone and you've both advanced all of your pawns and now they're practically stuck against each other and there's practically 0 ways to advance your pieces to the other side??? 😭 Again idk if anyone will see this but I need help y'all
Mr chess im begging you to keep the chessly plugs out of the middle of the videos. Respect for getting the bag and being proud of what youve made but these are getting borderline unwatchable… I’ve been a fan since covid, you got me back into chess, but it’s a loooot recently. I promise we get the message at the start of the vid

@qwert28077at my level, chess IS some pretty bad stuff
Alot of martial artists compare grappling to chess especially bjj.

For future reference. The title: Magnus, what have you done?
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!
He forgot it's supposed to be about the grammar.
And hell of a zoom on magnus's face as thumbnail
why do people do these future references? do he change the titles afterwards?

26:35 it's not checkmate in 3 moves, king can go to h7, okay Black is down a rook but it's not checkmate in 3
He literally mentioned it, but said it's a famous pattern recognition trap

Unless I’m misunderstanding your comment, the previous move, black moved away the queen from the defence of the rook.

You can't go Kh7 becaude the queen is attacking the king and no pieces can take queen rather than the king itself
@iBlameEverything King is not supposed to take the queen , he can just slide to Kh7 to avoid checkmate . I have literally verified it using stockfish.
@iBlameEverything King is not supposed to take the queen brother . Just slide to h7 square , and avoid checkmate . Even though it was still a highly losing position.

@20:05 i can see Fischer making a move like that but i can't really see any modern GM playing it, curious.
First time I missed a live game and obviously Levy is here to save the day!
Hey Levy, we're all coming over tomorrow to watch the matches with you.
It would be awesome to see if OpenAI's o1 or the new o3 can play chess. I'd assume their reasoning features would diminish the earlier hallucinations
Lmao every dude named Magnus just had a panick attack thinking they got called out by "Gotham" according to my notifications 😂
Magnus and MVL missed M3 that was instantly spotted by Tania!!!
It wasn't a mate but yes resignable since MVL would be down a rook.

This is a weird comment section
Levy attracts the weird people they want to be like him it’s contagious
MVL and Magnus have split their games here, their only other decisive game in 2024 was an MVL win in the Global Chess League. Also three draws.
I was there lol, unforgettable games. Can’t wait for tomorrow
If Magnus wins it is because he played brilliant
If others win, it's because the opponent blundered
Ive not seen the video, but is this about MVL in Game 1? Unreal play.
I have akways felt like the Petrov was good as an intermediate player because it usually takes your opponent out of theory
We all knew Nepo vs Alireza was going to be a beat down...but not like this.
Magnus sometimes blunders knowingly so that we think that he too is human
Hi gotham i love you and chess
Missing a mate in 3 pattern to win material. Magnus is just like me!
Maxime nearly milked Magnus
Since it's probably get changed the title was originally "Magnus, what have you done?"
