I* would suggest both draining AND filling the boiler solution from the port that you used to drain the Aqua Hot. All that is needed is a 1/2" male pipe to 1/2" tubing adapter screwed into the valve on the end of the "drain hose". After draining all the propylene glycol, connect your manual pump to the adapter via some 1/2" clear tubing, open the valve and pump the solution into the Aqua Hot. This minimizes air being trapped in the system. Just keep adding glycol until the reservoir is about half full, then run the system and top off as necessary. I might also suggest that instead of the manual pump that a RotoPump brand drill pump be used instead. The adapter, tubing, and nifty drill powered pump can all be acquired with one trip to Lowe's. (BTW: The drill pump comes with tubing and fittings and costs about the same as a decent manual pump.)
I am so happy to have stumbled across your channel! We are new owners to a 2017 Entegra Aspire and planning on going full-time in September. It is nice to have someone with the same coach that can help us navigate some of the issues we will have along the way. Your videos are very well done and we hope to see you on the road! Thanks for a great job!
I just did this flush tonight. Followed your instructions but got to a point where the fluid would not go in anymore. Only got about 2 gallons in. I went to the Aquahot site and read where there is a purge valve on the top of the unit (like a valve stem on a tire). When I took the cap off and pushed down on the valve the air started coming out and the fluid started to go in. I did this until it was coming out all fluid and no air. Was a lot faster. I ran out of time tonight to test the heat but will tomorrow. Thank you for the info on what and where to buy the product!!
Thank you for the video! We have owned 3 Diesel 450 AquaHot systems and never had any trouble on the first two systems which used Pink Camco fluid. Our two Pink Camco Aqua Hot systems stayed for years with clear pink fluid and no troubles. However currently...We have run into the “sludge coke colored” fluid on our new system that was factory installed with Century Fluid Green/Yellow color. We believe the troubles are all coming from the Century Transfer Fluid and we are planning to change over our system like you did to Pink Camco Fluid and hopefully it will be before troubles set in with the pumps etc. Thank you for taking the time to share this video!
Thanks so much, i'm guessing the sludge color is either coming from them topping off the Century fluid with Camco (most likely as the pink and green turn brown) or Aqua-Hot also claims that contaminants in the water will cause this also so make sure to use distilled water! Either way i'd say a flush is in your future! Thanks for the comments and feedback!
Aquahot also states that discoloration of the fluid is normal and not any indication that anything is bad, with the unit or fluid. Keep this in mind before you waste time for no reason!
Hi there! We bought a coach last year that has this system. This video gives me the knowledge and confidence to drain and replace the fluid. Thanks for the video!
You can fill it back up with the pump you have using the drain hose. It's full when it enters the reservoir. Close valve and pour remaining into reservoir and done.
while always appreciative , but flushing is a whole different thing . this video is simply draining an refilling, my confusion is Camco 30027 Boiler Antifreeze -100 - One Gallon says no mixing ??
Thanks for the great video! My coach is only a year old with a 450 Aquahot so I don’t need to change out the antifreeze yet but it’s great to see how easy it will be when I do have to service the antifreeze.
You show a drain n fill. Not a flush. Always a good idea to flush the system with fresh water or a mixture of fresh water and a descaler such as Barnacle Buster or Lime away. THEN, flush that out with fresh water, THEN fill with the correct mixture of boiler fluid.
We just had our system serviced. We did run our heat where we were staying. We looked at the reservoir before we left and there was no fluid in there. We have always been able to see pink fluid at the cold line before. We checked again when we got home and still no fluid there. We could see fluid in the tubing and the color of that fluid is brownish yellow. We had the work done at Tiffin shop at red bay Alabama. Is this a problem that we need to fix? Thanks for the video! We can do it ourselves next time.
No, its good! Direct from the aquahot site "Discoloration of propylene glycol antifreeze solution may occur during normal operation of the Aqua-Hot system. This discoloration does not indicate a malfunction of the Aqua-Hot system or the antifreeze solution. "
How can there be too low fluid if the over flow tank shows full . I'm learning about my Aqua hot . I dont use it very much just like 10 min for dishes and showers in the evening .
My system fluid is brown and thus I need to do a full flush with water first. Any recommendations on how to quickly flush the water in and the antifreeze out in each zone before then draining and putting boiler back in? I am talking about sequence and if there are any better ways to get the system to take the water in. Otherwise it looks like from your video I will have to put the 16 gallons of distilled water in, put the cover back on and close the whole system up, then turn on furnace and zones and then turn it all off and drain it out and repeat a few times until mostly clear is coming out. I also worry about the water getting up way too hot to be able to drain again quickly.... thoughts?
I'm not aware of a faster way to flush the fluid but I think you'd be looking at closer to 7 gallons, not 16 so its not all that bad. That said, depending on the age of your coach it might be brown only because they mixed the "green" fluid with the "pink" fluid during a top off/maintenance which creates the brown and if that is the case I wouldn't worry too much about flushing it first, just dump and refill with new fluid of all the same color and you should be fine (maybe flush a gallon of distilled water through the system just to clean out the lower areas where any sediments may have settled. As for the heat, it will burn you but its not terribly hot meaning a plastic container won't melt (ours didn't have an issue, just a standard bin from Walmart). Just take your time and be careful.
First of all I must say I love your videos. I would however make a suggestion that instead of adding fluid from the top when doing a full fluid change. That you create an adapter to the drain line and gravity feed from the bottom up. That will force the air out naturally and will make the job go much faster. Other than that it was a well-done video
Thanks Gary, great idea. We thought about doing that but when we called Aqua-Hot they told us to do it this way but... I like your thinking! Makes sense and since you have the valve already to prevent spilling when full why not?
You can use the drain with a 1/2 per connector and a water pump to force the water back through the drain... you're also suppose to run 1 of the stir pumps. You can use an alligator clip to ground out the pump to run it. There is a few things you're forgetting to tell people.
Wow... what did you do so your channel just blow up today? 300new followers and 30k views so far in a middle of the day looks impressive... did you get any advertise or something??? Good job

There are other videos that don't describe diluting the Camco boiler fluid. So glad you made that clear. Good job

yes we purge in the video at 8:18 but for anyone stuck you can do this sooner.

you are welcome! Stay tuned for future videos on the Aqua-Hot.

Great info- dealer wanted to charge me $1,300 dollars just for the labor to do this. Did it myself in a few hours. Everything went well! Ty
was yours just 6 gallons of diluted boiler antifreeze?.... or was it 6 gallons of full strength plus 6 gallons of water?
Thanks for the great video! My coach is only a year old with a 450 Aquahot so I don’t need to change out the antifreeze yet but it’s great to see how easy it will be when I do have to service the antifreeze.
Glad to help! Yes its not bad at all. Was really surprised how much some dealers charge for this.
I saw your episode on going rv
+bearfoot Adventures thanks for checking us out. We had a blast filming that!

Learning a lot about our future purchase. Thanks for the great video's.

Because the tank was empty. He filled it from the top which has to "Burp" it's way into the system letting air out.

Did you change out the filter on the diesel burner side?
It's an LP Aqua Hot, so it does not use Diesel.
