Hello there! Sorry I have been absent for over a month.

I moved to a new country to be with my husband and while I'm happy i did it, it's been the hardest year of my life and a pandemic didn't make it easier. I have no friends here so i spend a lot of time alone feeling bad for myseld. So i feel you, hang on and when you feel bad just go outside for just 20 mins, either go sit somewhere and just watch people pass by or go for a walk. It helps me sometimes :)

Moving to a new country is scary and exciting at the same time. Hope the pandemic can be over soon to make things easier. Life will get better if we make home wherever we are :) Sending lots of love ♡

I’ve lost motivation since coronavirus took over too. Too much isolating and not seeing family or friends. And all live entertainment like plays and live music are impossible as long as the virus is rampant. Plus the country is horribly divided. Still we enjoy day to day pleasures like seeing the neighborhood mating hawks call and fly over. And cooking food and watching movies and series on our tv. I see new things when walking the neighborhood that went unnoticed. The side yard and flower pot garden of basil and peppers and tiny tomatoes is doing well with the rain and sun. The dog is keeping us busy. I hope you get to meet and make some good friends and you find a more successful business. There are lots of obstacles but you can overcome them. Best.

Hello DongDong, random guy here. First video I watched of you was the one where you showed the Yick buildings, your charming personality made me browse your other videos. First I think it's a brave thing to just show how you feel and not pretend that everything is perfect in your life like most people pretend. I felt related to you somehow because I'm from Venezuela, I left my country 7 years ago and started my new life in the USA, and I left family, friends, and my conform zone (similar to you). After so much struggle going to college, learning English etc, now I have a good job, and can sustain myself and help my family a bit. This has a price though, I'm far away from my family, GF from college left me 4 years ago, and I'm just here alone in my golden bubble, at least you have your husband, but when you are alone is even harder.
This year actually started pretty good for me, my mom and sis did visit me, I made friends in a Japanese class I attend to, but everything kinda went downhill with covid. Friends lost their jobs, we haven't gone anywhere in months, a friend even had to find a job in another state... Lately, or should I say basically after February I haven't done any social activity (in person) and all these months of isolation are starting to take a toll on me. It has even made me wish I was living my old life with mom and sis, little money and luxury in our life, but definately simpler and a lot happier, just like those people that were playing chess in the Yick Cheong buildings.
Sorry for the long story that no one asked for, but I kinda wanted to share it. I see you are not super popular yet you make good and fun videos and I can easily see that it's not for the money. I won't tell you to keep making videos if you don't want to, but I can assure to you I'll be watching your videos. Even tho is difficult, stay positive, regards from TX!

Your words got me into tears! Thank you for sharing your piece of life with me. I appreciate it a lot.
I know it's a very difficult time for you, your friends and a lot of people. Especially when you are dealing with it alone. But I believe it's temporary. Things will get better! Hang in there my friend.
I admire your courage to move to another country all by yourself and fight your way through. You have proved your ability and strength. I have no doubt you will have a great future (in career and finding your loved one) wherever you stay. Just listen to your heart and be happy.
      Sending my best wishes!

@@DongDongWu Sorry I didn't intend to make you feel emotional!! Usually rather make friends laugh :'D. Yeah, I mean I believe everyone is fighting their own battles, and I think self-growth comes from the hardest battles life throws at us. Anyways, changing the subject a bit, for the next Q&A if you have time I'd like to hear your opinion of how is life in China vs USA. What does it take to be "sucessful" in your country?
I can see that China has a lot of poor, rural, and well developed areas, it's almost like there are multiple realities in one country. In constrast, the USA is all about the "fake sucessful life" where material things is all that matter. I don't know much about your background, but if you could talk a bit about that I'd be pretty interested.
      Thank you DongDong :)

Jesus, I just saw your comment and I kind of relate. I moved states around when you made this comment and I was doing great, I loved being in a new place and being across the country. I got to talk to and video my friends and keep seeing my old therapist. Eventually I got lonely and I found a bf but now we broke up about a week ago and your comment and DongDongs video is really hitting me. I used pandemic and having a new bf as an excuse to not go anywhere because I feel bad about going anywhere, even outdoors or to the supermarket, like it's not right, while a lot of people don't care and don't wear masks, and now that I am alone again, I realized I miss him a lot more than I should because I don't really have friends to hang out with like before. I don't see my co-workers a lot and they all isolate too. I'm having a hard time and being very emotional trying to find a new balance and doing things I originally planned to do too. Take care.

I think youre a very sympathetic woman. I totally relate to having distanced myself from people I used to hang out when I found my lover. That was already before the pandemic but now it's like so long ago just being around people and making new connections that the idea of trying to now, makes me really anxious and also lonely cuz I'm doubting myself so much

I hope you feel better. Sometime it is okay to let yourself cry, you shouldn't hold back on your emotions. It sounds like you guys are in the beginning of setting down roots in a "new" city where you have to built new relationships from scratch. These relationships can take years to built until you've finally feel like you've found your "click" of true friends who work, live, and build families and careers in the same city as you. Take a breathe. Remember home is where the heart is. And the heart is where warmth and support and relationships (family, friends, spouse) are. Join events of your interests, network, find support women run career groups, and maybe along the way, you'll find and build deep friendships. You don't need hundreds of friends, you just need a few great and genuine friends to make you feel at home.
