    Hi and nice to see you showcasing a cheaper pole. After i got back into fishing last November it wasnt until March when i bought a pole and someone recommended the Drennan Red Range 11m pole for someone just getting back into it so i bought it and i've been using it almost non stop ever since and caught Carp up to about 12lb with it. what struck me was how light and rigid it felt compared to an 8m pole i had when i was about 13 (at a previous time when i was fishing regularly) and when i realized that this was meant to be a somewhat budget pole (£225 not exactly cheap but it is compared to the major flagship 16m poles) i just thought of how even more light and rigid the more expensive ones must be.
    Seeing as i like the fact that most Drennan poles come with factory fitted side pull slots and that i really like their stuff anyway, i recently decided to have a look at their better poles and have decided that when it comes to replacing the elastics on my current Red Range pole which will be about end of October sort of time that instead of replacing them, i'm going to buy the Drennan Acolyte Carp 13m pole which comes with 6 top kits (2 of them double top kits) and a cupping kit with all the accessories you need except the elastics themselves and lubricant (and diamond eye threader but i have those anyway). Looks a fantastic pole and it even comes with its own holdall so looking forward to that.
    Just something i thought i should point out although this is just the way i see it, is that for fishing the margins, or close to any kind of snag or feature you dont need a so called margin pole...at the end of the day if a pole you spent like a grand or more on cant be used to fish in the margins or any other snags then i wouldnt bother buying it. I always fish the margins with my current pole and as i said i've caught Carp up to 12lb with it no probs and the pole coupled with the elastic has handled it fine. When i get my Acolyte Carp i'll keep my Red Range as a spare more than likely. By the way from my experience and from what others have said, you find that all fish big and small always bolt off at 200mph when you fish with heavier elastics because they react to its strength. Yesterday i was holding on for dear life for about 10 seconds when little Carp of about a pound or two were bolting off when i was fishing a margin with my red bungee 18-20 elastic, but when i fished in open water with my 6-8 they (and we're talking the same Carp of mostly between 1 and 3lb) werent pulling half as hard.
    The way i see it, this pole is a cheaper and a shorter alternative to the 11m that i have, you can just fish with it how you want with the only limitation being the fact that its 8 meters in length, but i guess people all think differently and have their own way of how they like to fish so if you want it just for the margins then by all means. Nice video anyway and even though i dont have this exact pole, i do have the 11m version so i'd recommend it too.

    Thanks for this. Ended up buying one of these after looking in shop and had first carp today on it. Nice to see someone taking time to review cheaper item rather than the latest and greatest like you see in the mags

    Hi mate, great video providing your opinion on this pole. For what its worth I totally agree with your comments and would add that my Mrs fished 2018 summer season with one and landed many doubles to 15lb on top 2 + 2 with ease .. .. keep up the good work .. .. .. Tight lines

      @@Angling4U I'm new to pole fishing so iv just been using a cheap middy 6m atm. Put map elastic in and it's been fine to learn. I'm wanting a 13m pole that dont break the bank next .. any suggestions? I fish birkwood a lot.

    So I got one of these today.. I was told it has 14/16 solid elastic amd 18/20 solid elastic.. but I'm a bit confused.. basically the red elastic looks much thinner than the pink yet the red is meant to be the 18/20? Is that possible? I'm not sure what elastic make it is.. unless the red is middy hi viz solid and the pink is drennan carp bungee .. any advice or thoughts from anyone would be appreciated.. not sure what to use first .. I usually fish white map hollow for big carp tbh

    • @Angling4U
      @Angling4U  2 роки тому

      Go with what you feel comfy with bud. I'm using preston 20 slip ATM great hybrid of both hollow and solid

      @@Angling4U do they do a 20? I was thinking of using a duraslip white 13 and red 15 .. is it a 19 you got? I'm glad you recommend it because I'm thinking of getting that tbh white meant to be a really good all-rounder.. I liked map white 6 to 10 and just use the puller. Gonna try the duraslip tho 👍
