Thanks Bundy you are a real God sent Mechanic and I appreciate all your video's. When this Video took place I was Dealing with a 6 blocked Arteries I'm back on deck functioning on all 6 cylinders. Thanks Again.
G Day Gary, Glad you are up and running again, After buggering around with this pump every second time I used the press I ended up putting an air operated foot controlled pump from E Bay on my press. Best thing I ever did, it made a great piece of equipment out of it. They are only a couple of hundred dollars and well worth the exercise
Hi Bundy, I got one of the HFCO 50 tons when I helped clean out a workshop for free. I am retired and moved into the country so I have a few farm implements on my farm and the press should come in handy . tried to use the press for the first time but it only got to just over 2 tons on the gage. I follow your video and take it apart and let you know how I went. Thanks for the demo. good start as I never have taken any hydraulics apart.
Nice work Lance. I thought I was the only one that had to fix new things before I could use them. Anyway, those 7 year old kids in China do a mighty job makin" stuff for us.
Yes those kids are handy indeed but I wish they kept the thread tape away from them lol. Buying cheap you know you are not going to buy top quality but now a days for playing in the shed it is all I need. Lucky I'm a bit handy.
Well I don't know Lance, I reckon you are a bloody marvel. I know we all buy cheap stuff sometimes but that's really bad quality control and I know where that has come from........"China" but it's bad for Hare and Forbes as well. You did a bloody good job of fixing that and I might be getting sentimental in my old age but fixing things up, trying and having ago, we are starting if not already to loose this in our country!! Good one lance instead of chucking the thing out you fixed it! Kind regards John
G day John. I know when I buy the cheap stuff it is not the best out there but it fits my budget for a home hobby shop. I do enjoy the challenge of fixing something and making it better some times and this one seems to have worked out well.
Bundy Bears Shed thanks for the reply Lance you know your only a few that always reply back to me and it's much appreciated. I think the same as you regarding my tooling it is either Chinese or Japanese and they are great for the hobby that you know I am involved in, and generally they are not bad quality, I suppose it's very irritating that you hardly ever get a feed back if something goes wrong. By the way nice weather your having up there!!
HI Bundy. I have the same press. It used to work but it's been in storage for some time and now it's doing the same thing. What's the air over hydraulic system you use? I'm a jeweller, not a hydraulics specialist! :D
A shame they sell such substandard stuff. No time for loctite to setup in the factory so slather it in thread tape and thorw some o rings in even though it doesn't have chamfered bosses to accept them. I really appreciated the factory knurl job! lol
I hate that bloody thread tape, only plumbers should be allowed to buy it. I reckon there would have been a lot of machines pulled down because of it. I think the knurl is a plumbers knurl too .lol
you've just learnt one reason they can keep the cost of this type of equipment low and that is because they use unskilled labour to assemble equipment as opposed to skilled fitters .
Makes you wonder, they are not cutting costs on saving o' rings which is the usual case, ever wasting putting them where they are not needed, just down to probably the ten year old that put it together. I would send that video to hare and forbes and show them what they are selling. The office staff probably won't have a clue but someone should, you saved them a few $ doing it yourself rather than sending back under garrantee, its a good job your handy at fixing that sort of thing. your lucky in a way as if you found for example a cracked piston and needed a new one they would of canceled the warrenty for opening it up yourself. Nowadays in most cases you can't win and need to buy a new one

G Day Gerry, I had to fix this each time I used it so I have now put an air over hydraulic system on it and it works great.
Nice work Lance. I thought I was the only one that had to fix new things before I could use them. Anyway, those 7 year old kids in China do a mighty job makin" stuff for us.

Yep, I'm a bit handy also. When I'm in the middle of fixing something new I often think "how do the dumb bastards get on...".
They need big wallets
Hi Bundy have a HP 50 press at work that needs fixing has same problem only make 5 T also main ram leaks also. Thanks for video
Thanks for sharing, i ended up putting an air over hydraulic pump on mine for a couple of hundred bucks. Best thing ever.

Just an E Bay one, it has made a big difference, just hook the cylinder line to the outlet and away you go.

Quality control. Every time somebody says those words a factory owner in China drops dead...
I think you are right there lol.
Nae bother eh Lance. 👍😀 Amazing what they pass off as fit for purpose, qc spot on 😡
Yeah quality control is a foreign word to them I think. Not to worry its up and running better than ever now.

G Day Steve, Yes bang on and that's why we buy it mainly for price. It seems to go well now though.

G day Derek, I think if I repair it myself I get a known quality of O ring and workmanship. If I sent it for warranty I may well get more of the same.
I think some Chinese factories have no quality control or inspection departments. Otherwise how would you get so many defective tools.
G day Harrold, We would have nothing to do if we were not fixing the cheap stuff eh.
is this the same as a 50 ton carolina cbp 1200 press
I ended up throwing this pump and fitting an air over hydraulic pump. Best thing ever , this press is a pleasure to use now.
i have seen big duck ups with thread tape
Yeah bloody thread tape! only plumbers should be allowed to buy it.
