As a former 12 handicapper getting back into the game after a 7 year hiatus, it's wonderful to see your progress within the past year. It gives me hope that I can return to my old form
You guys all seem like really nice guys, and a lot of fun to be around. I love this channel, and the production value/editing really make it a joy to watch. I'm going to be honest here though, Fents is the star of the show. Watching the other guys on this channel is decent fun, but watching Fents is something special.
I play in Japan. The courses here are often in the mountains, with narrow fairways sheltered by trees. Wind is rarely an issue here. Watching this video I can appreciate what a huge factor wind must be on a links course.
Fantastic round Luke. Hope my striking gets that consistent. Did some work at the range yesterday and seem to have fixed my open club face at impact with my driver by changing my grip to something most would likely cringe at, but it worked. Now I just need to fix my out to in swing path to completely take the slice out. Then I can start thinking about golf, and not just hitting the ball.
Thanks man! Funny isn’t it, when you’re a high handicap you think you need to improve your technique significantly to lower your scores. The reality is you need to make less mistakes. That’s the low hanging fruit
Hey mate would really appreciate you highlighting the course, slope and yardage at the start of the video. For instance Kilspindie is 5,200 yards and 106 on the slope with a course rating of 67. This means you should play significantly below your handicap here.
Wow Luke before I thought your chipping and putting was very good now even much better! I wish I have your short game skills!!! Your shot game skill level is more like a single figure handicapper
Congrats on the Eagle man! Hoping for my first soon, hit a few pins on approach though, can’t wait to get back on the course. Do you use strokes gained matrix to see where there are strokes to be picked up? ….. bet you thought the putter was coolish on this round ( it’s all relative) great 77! We always think there are shots left out there and want to realise our full potential. Breaking 80 is next for me. Think with your consistency now, you’ll be a single handicapper in no time…. Has different grasses and style courses helped your ball striking? Or do you think links is specifically more attuned with your swing. Kudos on getting the 2iron going (it’s a weapon! 🔥)
Thanks Ben, appreciate it! I don’t as it stands but I might in the future. I’m trying to keep more stats from each round. I think the protection on Links courses suit my game better. I’d rather play out of tough bunkers than trees I’d say. Thanks for watching!
Another great round and video!! What do you two think has been the catalyst for your vastly improved play? Playing more golf, Scotland or lessons. Also, Fents has also really improved behind the camera! So happy for you both.
Thanks Dave! I've had a couple of lessons this year and I think they've definitely helped. I've also taken my practice more seriously and I think that's the key tbh. I think Fents has got better through just playing more golf (I'm guessing). He's played for longer and has got to this sort of level before I believe but it's the best I've ever seen him playing for sure. Hope you're well! 👊
😂 move to Scotland should definitely be on the cards. Two eagles and you were putting really well aside from maybe 2 holes (not so sure about the shadow excuse 😅, but let’s call it a 76 round 😏). Maybe a Scottish themed eagle hat on the merch store 💡
Without a doubt the best contact I’ve seen you hit a ball 👏🏼👏🏼…you got away with one on the double sand trap hole. Could have easily been a double bogey…and in a tournament don’t ever reach over a hole and pull the ball into the hole…pretty sure that’s a penalty. Just something to be aware of…👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video guys very entertaining 👍 can I ask what ball do you play? I ask because your putter sounds a bit tinny on impact and seems quite inconsistent at impact. I swapped balls and played Pro v 1’s from when I was around 12 handicap and swapped putter to a Scotty futura and have never looked back, my short game is very consistent since the change , just a thought
That was awesome. Couple of observations..You are not the same player that you were when I stated watching this channel. Every thing has improved. As your handicap has gone down, it seems that your distances have gone up. Do you think this is because your swinging faster or just making better contact? We were pretty comparable with distances, but not anymore now that your a 13 and I’m still and 18!!
Thanks Scott, I really appreciate you watching all this time! Honestly I think I'm just striking the ball better. I think the speed has maybe marginally increased but the majority of the improve has come from the strike. Lots of practice and lots of golf 😅
Can you give us an insight into how you've managed to drop your handicap this fast, how oftern are you practicing what are you practicing, lessons, playing etc
I play a lot for an average player. Probably 2 times per week on average. I try and get down to the range at least once per week too. I have had a few lessons this year and just taken the feedback I've had to the range and worked on the things highlighted to me. Rinse and repeat really 👍
Great round Luke, that eagle was insane, let the big bird fly. If you keep striping your driver like that breaking 80 will be a very common occurrence. Keep it up mate.
Well played Luke. Given Fents' failures here (on the same day?) you did well not to get dragged down to his miserable levels. Still waiting for my first eagle - it will be a pitch, rather than a glorious putt, such as yours.
The eagle has landed - again.... The 2 iron is definitely your friend! Post a screenshot of your counting rounds - beginning to think you're a bandit!!😂
@@UpDownGolf great that you get to play so many places!! Missing the North East out though.... Check out Dunstanburgh, Newbiggin, Hartlepool & Seaton Carew as you're clearly a links specialist!!
You play from gold tees very short courses what are you basing your handicap off of and why don’t you play from tips? To say 13.3 you might want to explain to your viewers how you came up with that.

Quality content. You’ve certainly found the best of Scotland on this trip, weather and golf. Great round and great eagle 🦅
Thanks Bilal 👍 It was an awesome trip!

I enjoy watching your enthusiasm unlike some of the other channels.
Appreciate that Dennis!
Its pretty cool watching your videos whilst also trying to get better myself and watching both our handicaps go down over time
Love that! 👊
Wow, Luke is really improving his swing consistency, great round!
Cheers Kurfew 👍
Luke both you and Fents were born to play links golf! Wonderful series, well done!
Ahaha! Cheers Jack 👍
Game improvement since the early videos is huge! Great effort
Appreciate it! 👊
Excellent, consistent clean swings and perfect putting. Pleasure to watch. Well done. 👍
Thanks man! 👍
I particularly like the hole map to the right and tracking on the ball. Nice feature
Appreciate it!
I play in Japan. The courses here are often in the mountains, with narrow fairways sheltered by trees. Wind is rarely an issue here. Watching this video I can appreciate what a huge factor wind must be on a links course.
Wow that sounds tough! Yeah wind is the main defense for a course like this
Love it, c'mon out to the Bandon Dunes complex in Oregon, you'll be right at home.
Ahh Bandon Dunes looks unbelievable! One on the bucket list for sure 👍
Good stuff, I'm really enjoying your content.
Thanks dude!
Love playing in Scotland but it's all about the weather your long range putting was awesome today keep it up and keep the vids coming.
Thanks Phil! The weather was perfect for this one 👍

Thanks Steve. If you can get your game functional to the point where you enjoy your golf, that's all that really matters tbh 👍
Man your swing has improved and you are playing less mistakes substantially, good stuff, great round of golf.👏🏻🇦🇺
Thanks man! Funny isn’t it, when you’re a high handicap you think you need to improve your technique significantly to lower your scores. The reality is you need to make less mistakes. That’s the low hanging fruit
Lol, the first two videos I watch of you and you get your first two eagles! Well done mate, that par from the 2 bunkers was epic 😁😁
Aha thanks! You picked a good two to watch 👊
That’s another cracking effort Luke. Ball striking, especially off the tee, continues to improve markedly. Breaks 80 with ease 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks Humble! The ball striking definitely feels like it's improved too 👍
Another superb round!
Thanks Jonny!
I really enjoyed watching. Well played round. And I need to learn from you to not get mad at myself when I play a hole badly => you’re very zen
Thanks for watching! Aha I try not to let the bad shots get to me. Easier when you're playing well though!
I'm glad to see someone who enjoys their golf and is not too hard on themselves.
Thanks man 👍
You are getting better by the day!
Definitely feeling more confident recently 👍
That eagle on the 5th was awesome dude. Well played.
Cheers man! I was chuffed with it 👍

Some great ball striking and putting.
Single figure handicap soon.
🍻
🙌 Thanks Jon! That's the goal
Every time I watch you boys you’re drop your handicaps 😂😂😂loving the content 👍
Definite purple patch for us Barry! Appreciate you watching 👍
Wow Luke, massive improvement. Super consistent shot making. You won't be a 13 handicap for long....probably in the 12s after that round!
Thanks! Yeah you're right, in the 12s now 👍
Fantastic round! Very inspiring!
Thanks DoCu 👊

ANOTHER EAGLE! What's in the water in Scotland? Way to battle through that wind. What a round!
Aha thanks BBG! 👊
Swing’s looking really good. Have you been getting lessons?
Thanks Sean! I have had a couple over the last 3-4 months. Mainly trying to change my path to stop the slice/fade bias

Waddalife! Thanks for watching Rob 👍

another eagles mate . Damn 🔥
They’ve since dried up 😂
up and down hahahahahaha

You play from gold tees very short courses what are you basing your handicap off of and why don’t you play from tips? To say 13.3 you might want to explain to your viewers how you came up with that.
Yellow tees in the UK are visitor tees (most people play from these). White tees (tips) are members tees
😂😂😂😂😂

Hole 2 - you were not “robbed “ , you didn’t take the putt seriously enough. Left foot not lined up.
True
