I think it would be more effective to take current photos from the same locations so that you could flip back and forth between then and now for those who don't have your memories.

I agree. I only 'joined' recently, so could do with a 'potted history' of each strand and its needed areas. But I guess that's to come in Richard's next book idea.

Even if Yohanna is reluctant to be in front of cameras, she obviously brought talent, vision and lots of work to Ridgedale. Someday, maybe in a historical retrospective book or video of the Ridgedale farm story that begins with these great “before” shots, you will also include both your and Yohanna’s early years of gaining knowledge, skills and ideas before meeting each other and then setting up the farm. It seems that you have quite a way of finding tools, machines, raw materials and reusable stuff to make good use of. Is that your own knack for finding stuff, or is it generally true for all farmers in Europe? I like to watch your videos to contrast with what’s going on here in the States. This look at the beginning point is amazing because it’s obvious how much work you were going to undertake. Amazing.

From what I know, Christine, Richard studied agriculture, then worked in a wide range of jobs on farms, before setting up, so he had quite a body of knowledge to start with. The relevant bits of which were condensed into his courses. Of course, Yohanna has done as much and more to make this work also, we agree.

It sure is amazing what can be accomplished in only a few years! Richard, I would love to learn more about your day to day life in Sweden. You mention saunas a few times and I know they are good for our health but how often do you actually sit in the sauna? And I would love to see more of how you preserve the veg and meat you raise and then how you like to prepare it in the winter months. This past summer I learned a Swedish recipe for rose hip soup and foraged rose hips around my farm. I would love to learn more similar topics. As a market gardener, winter for me is all about learning and trying new things.
