Hey Steve, crushed or powdered eggshells make a great grit and slow release pH buffer. I think play sand is neutral pH, but it would make a great grit. ~ Sandra
Thank you for showing orange peels. I see it said so many times not to put them into compost, but I do it all the time and never noticed a problem. It needs to be said, too much of one thing will always cause a problem. But in majority of cases a little bit of something isn't going to cause any issues.
I bought a small 4 tray bin my first time then ordered my worms from uncle Jim when I got my worms they were already dead sad😢 then I ordered again and the second time because the bin sucked they died
I've been wanting to get into vermiculture for awhile now. Getting up the courage watching your videos.
You can do it. It took me awhile to actually get my worms and I'm so happy that I did. They ate sooo cute.

Thanks for the update Steve. You don't cover your food? I thought that helps with smell, and the visitors / flies from coming.
What is "pit moss"? Is it similar to peat moss?
I wonder about that too. You can Google it.
Seems like th bin is coming alive with the new worms
