I applied a couple months ago, took my test about 3 weeks agos and passed. I have a interview this Saturday(tomorrow). Crossing my fingers, hope I get it. The job looks amazing and Ive always wanted to do stuff like this and finally had the courage to apply and I cant accept failure.
i just applied for local 250 apprenticeship for the year 2025. I still have to take the test coming up. I printed the math study guide and studying. Any advice as how i can increase my chance of getting selected? And from anyone in the trade, will the work be steady? Thank you
Just be you and let them know ur hungry... no attitude., no talk back, just hunger and willingness to learn... as an apprentice your job is to watch, listen and learn... good luck
A pipefitter works with higher pressure systems. Plumbers deal with potable water, water you can put in a pot and use mostly copper. Fitters can miter a pipe (cut at certain angle to achieve a 90 offset etc) and use a wrap around and beveling machine.
@@brendanhull3687 Im a steamfitter apprentice. Those arent the only differences tho. We do work on bigger pipes sometimes, we also handle all or most the pipe welding that requires tig/stick/mig. Also, plumbers dont grind/bevel pipe, or transition or miter fittings/pipe. I also havent seen a plumber use a plasma cutter yet. None of these are really pros/cons, just differences, since you guys think plumbers and fitters are the same. We do got similarities, but differences too.
That’s how all the union trades are usually, whether it’s the company you work for or the hall you can go in and practice on scrap as long as it’s not on the clock.
So it’s not a stable job bro? I’m considering local 38 currently make 1200-1500 a week and a raise every year. I don’t make plumbers kind of money but my job is stable as I’ll never get laid off as long as I do a good job.
The pride. The craftsmanship. The professionalism… can’t wait to start class #ironworker #welder
Bout to go try and apply this Friday lil nervous
How'd it go

Must be nice welding fitting baby pipe in hospital conditions
Well spoken.
Can someone tell me pros and cons of pursuing different types of plumbing? Ie: pipefitters vs new construction vs service
pipefitters arent plumbers, a plumber can fit but a fitter cant plumb....

Wow so your institution allows you to access the class rooms off hours? I’d spend most my weekends honing my craft If we had that in Australia.
