Proud owner of this album on vinyl. I found it at a time where I seriously needed it most, as cliche as it is sounds, it seriously helped me feel like my intrusive thoughts weren’t exclusive to me. Returning back to it in a MUCH better place is like staring back at the abyss and realizing I’m okay
I remember having that same fear of listening to this album, because I knew about its reputation online. I’ve always been afraid of death and mortality, so an album surrounding those themes was really intimidating to me. However that changed when I went through one of the worst periods of my life. I had to let someone go, and I was in a deep state of depression. I said fuck it, and I listened to the album. It was one of the best things I ever did, it felt like finally being understood, my emotions validated. The album is very cold in nature, but for some reason it made me feel warm.
Man their second album is must listen too, the lead singer dan's project giles corey is like deathconciousness but folk, great album too, you should check their entire discography
Thanks! Um, quick top ten 1. Vår - No One Dances Quite Like My Brothers 2. Coil - Horse Rotorvator 3. Joy Division - Closer 4. Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness 5. Radiohead - KID A 6. Sonic Youth - EVOL 7. Prurient - Bermuda Drain 8. Swans - Children of God 9. Xiu Xiu - A Promise 10. Body Sculptures - A Body Turns to Eden
It's such a classic record. It's as good as it gets in terms of atmosphere on any record I've ever heard. I've really been enjoying these rock album reactions recently. Keep up the good work!
@@mightguy123456that’s still insane to me. I have a guitar that’s more expensive then this whole album, and it’s still one of the most beautiful and depressing albums ever created
Iirc, the reason why the fifth track is mixed so low is because most of the recording of this album was done by the pinhole mic of the laptop of one of the members of the band (that also explains the really lo-fi sound of the album). If you listen to this whole album again, just keep in mind that detail and just turn up the volume a little bit during that song (I can't remember if that happens with other songs on this album, but if it does just do the same - I do that lol).
Those first two tracks are one of my favorite (if not favorite) openers for an album. And yeah, listening to this album regularly is not healthy at all, it fucked me up a lot during a couple months. Just came out of a really depressive stage of my life and I’m trying to get myself together. Still, this album is in my top 5 of all time. Just amazing.
i found this album by accident and the first song i listened to is blood hail my heart actually exploded i literally fell in love with have a nice life it sounded the way i felt not to sound like cheesy but like yk?
Glad you reacted to it, and whether you appreciate it or not does not matter, because nothing about our lives ever mattered. Have a nice life! ;) mwuhahaha
Dude wtf I literally just listened to the whole album the other day for the first time and right at like the same time you did and made this video lol that's a funny coincidence
I wasnt getting enough from some of the reactions to more viral newer stuff such as Ren. So I dug in to have a nice life and Giles and found this video. So thank you. I suggest A Neverending by Scraps of Tape
Good video. I just think music often takes more than one listen to really appreciate or form an opinion on. (I get that this is a "first reaction" but still)
Cool video man I was wonder if you'll react to Pink Floyd's animals. I've been waiting on it for months since you've done your wish you were here reaction.
i think A Quick One Before The Eternal Worm Devours Us Connecticut is not depressing but really relaxing. İ find myself playing it everyday and it gets me in such a relaxed mood. i kinda wanna know why you thought it was depressing?
part 2: ua-cam.com/video/7SeDeSCi47o/v-deo.html
Literally every track on this album is a smiley ball for me
"I'm scared it's gonna explode and just... Destroy my ears"
This, children, is what is known in literature as "foreshadowing"

Yes
One of the greatest albums made.
this album is transcendental
man if you loved that frontside nothing will prepare you for how good the other side is
we need a Giles corey reaction
read the booklet about antichious. it brings the album to a level i didn’t know was possible. mind numbing art.
Hoping you checkout the singer Dan Barrett’s solo project Giles Corey
