I am ordering one ASAP!!! I’m a professional firefighter. This along with the Fubar, looks like it might be a perfect compact forcible entry setup that I can carry in my bunker gear. I’m going to dull the edges (don’t want anything sharp in my pockets). I’ve seen other firefighters carry a knife like this but it was made by K Bar and pretty expensive. This looks like the perfect answer for our industry.
I always appreciate learning about new innovations fro the blue collar trades that can help us in the fire service. Much respect, thanks to all you guys!

I appreciate the fact that you use millimetres.

Metric is so much nicer/easier/faster & less error prone... wish the US had made the change decades ago. Oh, BTW I heard that aerospace giant Lockheed Martin either has, or is currently in the process of adopting metric for everything; as have scores of other companies & organizations.
My only metric complaint is the Celsius degree is a little 'portly'... a °C weighs in at 1.8°F... but I'll live.

Metric was made for science. If you have trouble using imperial for basic measuring it's cause you're dumb. Everybody should be able to use both. Fractions are not hard.

Tell me about it. I took the day off, and was planning on picking up a few EDC replacement tools while I was out later - this just went on the list (if I see one locally). Along with that Lufkin tape measure & a pair of Knipex dikes.
Doc seems determined to keep working stiffs like us broke...

I got the Stanley fatmax builders wrecking knife/ chisel. came super sharp, I've put a few years on it now. still going strong. doesn't come with a holder though, had to wrap a rag around it so I didn`t cut a finger going through the tool bag.

I prefer the Stanley over the other chisel knives, because of the through tang and the striking cap on the end. This kind of chisel isn’t meant for fine carving or joinery; it’s for rough work. You need to be able to whale on it with a hammer.

For ~$11 & change and shipped free, I just grabbed one. I did not want to use my Morakniv for demo jobs (I keep it sharp for mortising and cleanup work). The double bevel and through tang are perfect for demo. Thanks for the heads-up.

use mine for allsorts , constantly on my belt at work , really good for cutting through old screws with stripped heads on gutter brackets without cutting the plastics ,and loads more . downside is no flat bevel just the scandi style grind, but i have the mora when a flat face is required

Although I hate Stanley (the evil tool empire) can't say I've found anything with Fatmax on it that wasn't decent. The fatmax tape measures are also excellent.

I have the Mora as a component of my EDC kit. At home, there is a very decent piece like the Stanley made by Kirschen. Wouldn't abuse it too much, but more precise and much better steel. Made in Germany

Doc, Another nice video! You are incredibly tireless!! Didn't you sing the praises of a similar Snap-on/Blue Point tool a while back? P.S. When are we going to get to see wherever it is that you keep all of your tools--its obviously not in the tool chest in your filming "studio." Red out.

I bought a stanley butterfly chisel (folded into the handle, meant to be carried on a tool belt for rough work) The blade started rolling just using it in pine. The fact that you said this blade was already dinged up makes me wonder if this isn't similarly cheap steel...

    25.4mm = 1" so 25mm is a practical inch. That said, the non-chisel grind of the fatmax was/is a non-starter for me

It ought not to be a super sharp 90degree angle. The corner would be susceptible to breaking. If it comes new with such an angle, the first thing I’d do is round it….., JUST A TINY BIT.

New sub here, awesome content. Can you do a multi tool review? I have a Leatherman wingman multi tool and I wonder how it compares with higher and lower end brands.

    • @gqborges

The wingman used to be my favorite EDC Carry, i got the leatherman free p2 a few weeks back, it’s essentially the same tool but has a great fidget factor to it and I find a one-handed use to be very helpful when I’m working on projects. The price is a little steep but I found one a few eBay for the same price as the wingman. currently

788441 is the item number , though I don't know how it stacks up to the stanley or others
Edit: didn't look down the comments far enough, the others have already mentioned it. My bad

Do You know of any folding chisel knives? I am interested in something similar to pry tool with a blade edge on it. The chisel knives seem to be the closet. It would be great if they made chisel knife with the butterfly action as well. I haven't seen one.

It's perfect for people like me that need to have their tools on their person while minimizing weight. I cut with them and chisel with them (not fine work) so it saves me from having to carry both a chisel and a fixed blade amongst many other tools.
