If you're ever interested in a VI masterclass, always check to see if they have an "At the Table" or Penguin or Alakazam Lecture first (just expanding on your recommendation here). Many times you can pick up an "At the table" for $8 and it has similar material to the VI. If you're stuck on the VI wait for Black Friday or summer sales, where they are 1/2 off. $75 is a lot of money. Thanks for the review!
I didn’t see the vanishing lecture. I do have the alakama lecture and penguin lectures. Marc Paul is FANTASTIC!!! Get them all. Even if you get a tiny bit of information from the lectures it’s worth it!!! People spend thousands of dolllars to go to college. The price is nothing. Thank you for all your reviews!!! You really do help us!!!
There is a huge difference between college and magic. Many people (not few like in the case of magic) want to go to college to get tools that help them both professionally and in their day-to-day life. The courses you get at college are selected in a way that you have information on a broad spectrum of topics (not just what you do). There can be thousands of subspecialties in a single field. Also someone has to pay the salaries and costs of upkeeping the infrastructure. Those who teach at college (professors) spend their entire lives sacrificing social life, sleep and family to write papers on research that cost millions of dollars and end up saving & improving countless lives. There is no comparison here whatsoever.
I tried to show people that you can learn much of what was taught on this masterclass plus many other more useful routines on the other Marc Paul lectures which are much cheaper. No reason to throw money away.
Great review. Thanks David. I really liked Marc pauls version of the Jack London ‘Almost real prediction’ which I think I saw on a penguin live (perhaps he has done 2??).
I didn't think it was anything special. For an Anywhere Act, I would have expected that at least half of the material would be PROPLESS mentalism. That's the definition of Anywhere mentalism. There are MUCH better minimalistic mentalism effects that don't look as transparent as those. He uses the same behind the back move in several effects to get one ahead... My recommendation is to skip it!
@@UnbiasedMagicReviews I really appreciate your getting back to me. Thanks I was looking at A.C.T.S at Alakazam. Your thoughts? Possible to send you a brief email?
12:51 this question pops up in case of book tests. “Why can’t I come up with a random word without the book?” Most just assume that you memorised the whole thing.
It's also a good idea to know a couple of different impromptu book test effects. Nothing more convincing than when you use their book. Marc Paul's AAA book test is super easy and can be found on his ACTS of Mentalism lecture among other places.
Unless you are performing on stage or in your living room where the book is yours.... otherwise I only use book tests with their book. Just take note how many people you interact with daily who have a book with them.... that's a performance opportunity right there! @@yourfriends
Great review. I’ve seen Marc twice, once at a lecture and once on a cruise ship. Very old fashioned act and came across as not a very nice man ( I could have caught him on 2 bad days). Keep up the good work.👍🏻
Pros owe amateurs nothing. Amateurs have this weird entitlement where they think just because they know a few tricks they’re peers with professionals and they should “jam” with them. It’s insane. Also see Max Maven’s thoughts on the subject in mid 90s MAGIC magazine. He copped a bit of attitude for it but he was exactly right. I wouldn’t think for a second that I could go up to a top pro on a cruise ship and expect anything from them.

I completely agree with you, David. Marc Paul, along with Richard Osterlind, got me into mentalism. His Penguin stuff is so much better.
