    Fascinating to see that you have a volunteer organisation too. Here in the UK we have the Royal National Lifeboat Institution which has been operating since 1824 and I am proud to be a volunteer in my local fund raising shop in Penzance Cornwall where our local Lifeboat station is the Penlee based in Newlyn.

    You should look into getting to follow on training a forest fire crew. You might not be able to go out with a crew to a fire but love to see some of the training or the logistics of them.

    The last time I watched those fireworks, Vancouver had weekly shows put on by a different country. The final show was with all the countries contributing. Fireworks that burst in the shape of flowers, dancing like I have never seen before. As a small child well into my 40's our family were professional pyrotechnics. We put on fire works shows. Canada does it right with their shows.

      The Grands Feux Loto Québec in Québec City are pretty awesome too! Check them out if you have a chance. Loved this year's Celebration of Light, though it has been reduced due to some people "complaining about the noise and traffic", hence only 3. The 1st ones i saw was in 1997 and i couldn't believe the crowds! 🎇

    Usually, one waits till a Saturday but I don’t mind this because it’s going to be fun which is what this channel is all about.
    P.S. I like the Visual of Vancouver Harbour being crowded.

    For most of my life I hve lived on the island and I have nothing but respect for these guys. I have done a decent amount of boating and it is always a good feeling knowing that we have both the coast guard and the RCMSAR guys ready to help you if you get into trouble. Thank you for being there for all boaters and a special thank you to everyone who volunteers their time to protecting others!

    Mike deepest respect for these people. They do a huge service, and very needed! I made my living for 35 years on the ocean in Massachusetts servicing boats owned by many people who should never have gone out beyond the harbor. It was a good living! Awesome video! 👍👍👍

    G'day Mike from downunder. This clip has filled another gap in the places in Vancouver I haven't got to....well, not below about 10000ft anyway. Indian Arm and Deep Cove are away from the usual visitor destinations unless one knows somebody who has a boat. What a great way to reveal this beautiful part of the upper Burrard Inlet to us. And you got to qualify basic training to go out for the fireworks night. This was a great way to promote the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue organisation and the great work they do in such settings as a busy harbour during summer. Thanks so much for sharing this one with us. I'm sure our own water police in Melbourne and Sydney would appreciate seeing this.😀

    I watched the fireworks this year. There are lots of responsible boaters and lots of irresponsible boaters. Saw a paddleboarder fall into the water a couple times before the fireworks (did make it back onto the paddleboard each time). No lifejacket, no lights.

    Ocean Rescue is a very rough profession that requires people with generous helpings of brawn and brain, who take the already difficult profession of rescue and emergency medicine and add the fact that now you're on a loud, undulating, and awkward to work on fast boat
    Respect!

    I washed the fireworks and wondered about those boats so now I know thank you for volunteering your time. Given all the fires around the world is it time for waterworks and snow blowers that put out fires? Downie, Apex mountain had a fire recently and nobody is saying how the snow blower helped to reduce humidity and help reduce fires on Apex could you look into that for me? Thanks so much for all the volunteers throughout BC that help us all.

    Centre of expanding square search patter should always be moving with the current. Doing a square search pattern with a fixed centre point when there is a current won't be effective.

    • @DownieLive
      @DownieLive  Рік тому

      But the centre point does move with the current. That's why they use time to designate when they should turn, not GPS coordinates.
