Honestly I kind of side with Ray here. The whole idea is ridiculous. If the parents of the birthday girl wanted everyone to have a certain dress they should have either bought them themselves or gone through some kind of dress rental place.
This is one of the few episodes I’ve seen all the way through and honestly I really like how they did the story. Ray and Ally talking, Ray confronting Peggy, and the how the party eventually turned out. Feel a little bad for Ally about the what happened at the very very end but between the wholesome plot and it being a very “Marie Lite” episode (lol), definitely a favorite episode from any sitcom for me ❤
I still think mean ol cookie lady has a small thing for ray 😂. If he mentioned her name 6 times and multiply it by 10 the total should've been 108.25 including taxes
Add 20 years of inflation to this (I think this episode was a 2004 episode) then the dress would be around $410... closer to $450 without the %10 discount!
in my country it is very popular to buy a hand me down dress for the prom, or to rent one. My son rented a nice suite for the occassion. We don't have any preassure to BUY the dress, we only use it for that one occassion. Of course the overly rich people buy one but no one cares if it's bought or rented or a used one,as long as it's nice.
It wasn't a prom party, it was Peggy's daughter 13th birthday. Peggy just wanted a nice formal party, and most of the other parents were scared to say no
I would make it a laidback affair, especially for a 13 year old. I am with Ray that it is crazy to pay $250 for a dress that she is going to outgrow before her prom.
I appreciated the point of them "dressing nice" but who the hell are you to comment on how people should spend their money. If it's that important they wear it, you buy it for them!
Allie runs upstairs very upset from the dress shop after his father Raymond Barone yells at her. Raymond: 😡😡😡ALL RIGHT!!!!!😡😡😡BE LIKE THAT!!!!!!😡😡😡 Debra: Ray, what's going on? Marie: What happened? Frank: What the hell's wrong with you?
So a bunch of girls are going to show up at a party wearing 1 of the 3 dresses to choose from the dress shop? Wouldn't it be a bit more embarrassing to show up at a party wearing the same exact dress as someone else versus wearing a less expensive, different one?
people saying they don’t want kids because of this… simply don’t let bullies like Peggy run the show. Don’t get stream rolled into doing what kids or selfish adults want
Ray should've buy Ally the dress for her to wear to Molly's birthday party. Even though it cost $250. If he Ray wasn't rabble rousing in the dress shop Molly's birthday party wouldn't been ruined. He was the one that ruined Molly's birthday party. I wondered if Ally and Molly were still best friends in the other episodes from season 8 and season 9. When Peggy became Peter's girlfriend. If Peter and Peggy got married, Peter will be Molly's step dad, Molly will be Pat, and Hank's granddaughter, and Amy's niece. If Ray had buy Ally the dress she wouldn't be mad at him. When Ally went to the birthday party even though she was the only one wearing a dress, she could've stayed at the birthday party and hung out with Molly. Ally didn't want to stay because Ray ruined Molly's birthday party. Ally said she hated Ray. Ray is a sportswriter he makes a lot of money. Ally runs upstairs very upset when her Ray yells at her.
All the fathers protested about the party being a formal affair knowing how much the dress costs plus I’m sure they all hated Peggy the same way Ray hates her.
Raymond had ruined the prom party. Why? He says no matter what parents buy the prom dresses to their children and absolutely expensive. The child’s parent was there and he share the same words from Raymond to all the parents and they decided not to buy. At the prom party, they wore casual clothes instead of prom dresses 👗
It wasn’t a prom party. It was Peggy’s daughter’s birthday party and so that they could attend her daughter’s party Peggy wanted all the girls to buy the dress in the boutique she chose and the dress cost 250 dlls.
But if the mom so badly wanted the girls to come in a dress then say it and let every girl/parent choose wich dress they come in! For sure every girl has one dress at home(Except I didn't have, I never dressed in dresses, avoided every party with a dress-code, still do)
"Alright..Peggy, Peggy, Peggy, Peggy, Peggy..how much is it now?!?!" haha
That was one of the few moments Ray actually made me laugh.
That part was hilarious! 😂
Honestly I kind of side with Ray here. The whole idea is ridiculous. If the parents of the birthday girl wanted everyone to have a certain dress they should have either bought them themselves or gone through some kind of dress rental place.
So true!!!
same with me
kind of? there’s no question about it.
From the few times I’ve seen Peggy in this show, yeah she’s totally out of her mind. OG Karen lmao 🤣
Yeah the whole concept is ridiculous. I would never allow my kids to attend a party like this
This episode was so close to real life. I'm sure this was a real life experience for the writers.
Phil Rosenthal said that every episode is based off something that really happened to the writers or someone they knew.
You can probably find that same dress at the thrift store now for $5
Yeppers
I thought Ray was stingy because I was in school at that time now I see as a parent it was a robbery 😅
😂😂😂 yep. Dad myself, it's daylight robbery.
Raymond: BECAUSE I AM THE GROWN UP AND THAT'S HOW IT IS! NOW, WHERE IS MY COOKIE! WE'RE OUT OF HERE! at 4:26 LOL
The assistant also brought coffee to Frasier Crane
We have a team of specialists working on it.
"I know. I was gonna get a lawn mower..." 😂
he should've bring Marie and let her handle it🤣
😂 imagine that
Boycott Peggy’s party 😂
Especially since Ray had a bad experience with her
Ray found his true soulmate.
1:21 I was gonna get a lawnmower cracks me up every time 😂
She works on commission.
Ray is too damn funny!!
She was definitely being unreasonable for making all the parents pay that much

Lol facts
One of the few times when Ray was in the right, lol.
I never went to a dance, and at those prices, I'm glad I didn't
Jerry and Ray should have hung out more. They seemed to have a lot in common.
This episode is so sweet, I teared up.
Hello Ally’s dad.
Hello Peggy.
Hello Jerry.
Hello Newman.
I like the way Ray Romano and Fran Drescher say the word daughter
They went to school together :)
I didn't even go to Prom. Too damn expensive. And no date. My friends had fun at my house. Dad made a lot of pizza.

I never saw this episode, but there’s no reason for 13-year-olds to have a prom party. The prom will come soon enough.
It wasn't a prom party, it was Peggy's daughter 13th birthday. Peggy just wanted a nice formal party, and most of the other parents were scared to say no

@oolala53 It wasn’t a prom party. It was Peggy daughter birthday
I love everybody loves Raymond my favorite TV show of all time 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰📡📺📡📺📡📺📡📺📡📡📺📺📡📺📡📺📡📺📡📺📺
My daughter would not have gone to that party. I wouldve taken her for dinner and a movie which both is cheaper than that dress
I appreciated the point of them "dressing nice" but who the hell are you to comment on how people should spend their money. If it's that important they wear it, you buy it for them!
Right
I like the idea of having the kids dress up for a nice party. But picking out an expensive dress to wear is what's too much.
Allie runs upstairs very upset from the dress shop after his father Raymond Barone yells at her.
Raymond: 😡😡😡ALL RIGHT!!!!!😡😡😡BE LIKE THAT!!!!!!😡😡😡
Debra: Ray, what's going on?
Marie: What happened?
Frank: What the hell's wrong with you?
I totally agree with Ray that is ridiculous
I agree with Ray😮
I can’t believe that Peggy is also lieutenant Grace Billets in Bosch.
So a bunch of girls are going to show up at a party wearing 1 of the 3 dresses to choose from the dress shop? Wouldn't it be a bit more embarrassing to show up at a party wearing the same exact dress as someone else versus wearing a less expensive, different one?
Sadly that sounds normal for todays standards lol
Not really. My nieces prom dress last year was almost $800.
This isn’t for prom though, it’s for a fancy party for a 13 year old
True and almost 30 years ago 250 was expensive and more if it was only for a birthday party.
This I would never experienced
It's the Playstation guy 😮
Buy some SMCI, Ray.
people saying they don’t want kids because of this… simply don’t let bullies like Peggy run the show. Don’t get stream rolled into doing what kids or selfish adults want
I dont like Peggy
No one did
Except for Amy's brother, Peter 👉🏻🍑

I'm not gonna lie. Most fathers I know who have daughters have a hard te saying no to them.

@@marycarmenorozcob9140 Oh! I thought it was a prom. It’s been a long time to remember
You’re right, it’s been a long time, I know because I just bought the series and I’ve been watching them again.
But if the mom so badly wanted the girls to come in a dress then say it and let every girl/parent choose wich dress they come in! For sure every girl has one dress at home(Except I didn't have, I never dressed in dresses, avoided every party with a dress-code, still do)
2:09 and that is why more people are opting not to have kids anymore.
is molly raymonds real life daughter?
Yes she is
I don't get this bloke, he moans about paying £250 dollars for a dress but he paid £4 dollars for a bloody cookie. What an idiot 🙄 🤦
In today’s economy the Dress would have cost $600
If both Ray and Debra have brown hair, how is she has blonde hair?
granma genes
Will turn darker. I started out blonde and became very dark brown.
These are actors so 😅, but in real life it happens).
Debra’s parents are blonde . Marie is blonde
@@BeadzW Debra's parents are not blonde. Her father has dark & gray hair and her mother has red hair.
Love Ray he's so funny but that just shows you how old the show is ..$250 sounds cheap to me
For a little girl‘s dress? Outrageous price, even in 2024. I guess you’re in a different snack bracket than I am, lol.
Cheap?!!! 250.00 on a dress for a 13 y/o??!!!
This episode aired in 2004 or 5. $250 back then would equal to $416 today if you round it up. Ray had every right to be upset
A big reason why i don't want kids especially a girl all that make-up and shoes. By the maker 😮😢
AKA, selfish reasons. I don't want to spend time or money on another person, I just want to spend it on me.
Because boys are cheaper with their gaming and their sports gear, sporting fees.
@@kodidane5824 It's more like I just don't want kids. Not even school is safe anymore.
@@lillyess385 Nope I don't want kids. Boy or girl.
"Especially a girl".
Ok.
Not funny any more, 2024. Don't get married.
