Posting this here as well I love how Galeem and Dharkon didn't or couldn't put aside their differences, unlike the Heroes and Villains of the roster. Rather than banding together (again maybe they just COULDN'T) they strike each other in moments of weakness. It's a struggle that could just as easily be as natural and understandable as self preservation and survival, or perhaps it's a matter of dominance and ego. Whatever the case, Galeem and Dharkon both fall in the Best Timeline. You can be blinded by too much light, and you can be blinded by stifling dark, after all.
I really like that they didn't leave any stereotypes in that part. No stereotypical banding together. Relentless fighting till the very end, when they could have easily joined together to defeat a small flea in their way, and then continue the battle.

After all the pain and suffering and self pushing Sakurai had gone through for this franchise this was the best way for him to leave us. This fight wasn’t about just defeating a pair of gods. This was about protecting what we love most.
my name is bob I finished my first world of light with Captain Falcon, Incineroar and Ganondorf. Captain Falcon for the jumping, Incineroar for the boss rush and Ganondorf for Galeem and Darkon.
I so wish after the final battle you got a cutscene of just EVERYONE fighting along side each other to make sure these two all powerful gods go down at the same time as to make sure neither wins. Would’ve seen much better than “oh look! The spirits are doing a crazy light show in the SKY! The End.”
I believe a reason why that isn’t the case would be that it’s possible to win with only a small amount of characters (the cutscene of “The Final Battle” only shows characters who were required to unlock in order to progress the story so characters who weren’t required weren’t shown just to be safe incase you didn’t rescue those fighters as it wouldn’t make sense why they’re freed and fighting with you in the cutscene when they’re actually still being captive by Galeem/Dharkon), and then the possibility of having to make a cutscene variation for each fighter would be WAYYY too much for the devs
I finished the story mode for the first time today. This final battle was incredible. Fighting both Galeem and Dharkon at the same time was really challenging, but defeating them was extremely satisfying.
Galeem: a being of pure light, order and, virtue. Dharkon: a being of eternal darkness, chaos, and evil. The bosses who side with light or dark represent each of the three things both beings embody. Giga Bowser: Light Galleom: Order Rathalos: Virtue Ganon: Evil Dracula: Darkness Marx: Chaos
@@amazinganthony12 Ik this is pretty old, but I saw someone refer to this as "the case with Eggman". Dharkon wants to kill everything. You can see that by Mario literately collapsing as the world falls into darkness in one of the bad endings. Galeem wants to control everything. But, if everyone is dead ( _ahem Dharkon_ ), then how is he supposed to control them? Hence why he started attacking him. Dharkon is Galeem's counter to prevent him from taking over again.
Actually here’s my idea of the family tree: Master hand:The oldest child Crazy hand:That very annoying and rude younger sister Tabuu:The grandparent Master Core:The ancestor Galeem:The very loud mother Dharkon:The new Father Giga bowser:The old father who went out to get milk
1:12 _"These Stubborn Gods continue to Brawl, each one will Melee the other! We can't live in a world with Pure War, We've been fighting since the N-64!"_ _"Don't be blinded by Galeem's glaring light! Don't be fooled by Dharkon, deep as the night! End this struggle, and let all of us go! We can feel that by the end of this, we'll all be home..!"_
My version at 1:12 All this chaos, caused by two gods, each one still fighting another. Yet they refuse to end, let this wash away, making our dawn unreachable. 2nd version One mindless brawl, no end at all, and each one refusing to fall. When will this fighting cease, let there just be peace, and let all us become released? Every soul pertains a faint trace of light, hold them now and see the end full and bright. No defeat, no further need to fall down - show your valor and call faith to shine down! Colors weave into a full spired flame, Spirits raging as you call out their names! Draw your blade against the darkness and light, strength and courage will shine through in this unyielding fight! 2nd version of verse 3 & 4 All these souls yet hold a small trace of light, still imprisoned by the unending fight. Make your stand, and see the end within sight - all their damage be repaired by your hand! Colors rage into an awakened flame, Spirits dawning as you make out their names! Bear your blade against the darkness and light - souls will rewake as you fight hearing all of their might!
This music is a fight in of itself. It includes motifs from Lifelight that belonged individually to Galeem and Dharkon. constantly fighting for which music will overpower the other so that they may be in control, and endless struggle. Until this moment in 1:24, a motif that doesn't belong to them starts to sing. *Every soul contains a whisper of light, growing louder as it calls to unite.* *From the distance sings a chorus of souls, rising slowly stirring heat from the coals.* It overpowered both Galeem and Dharkon's theme, the Fighters and Spirits coming together to create a united force stronger than those two combined. Letting them know that they cannot be controlled by one or the other, that they are their own individual, unable to be truly conquered. I love music from video games. They are their own individual story we get to listen to. This one is a great piece of composition, and I hope to find even greater stories hidden in video game music.
That was really beautiful. I do like your explanation of the orchestration of this final boss theme. I would hope that in the future, many others would read your statement and agree, just like I do
The last motif was always connected to the Spirits. It always plays whether you win or lose spirit fights, the lyrics were about the struggle of the spirits to break free from their predicament and the ending finally explains a particular set of lyrics from it. It's even in Master Hand's theme in a more minor and uncertain sounding way when it isn't in Galeem's, hinting that Master Hand is actually in the same predicament as the Spirits and ultimately is on their side. The motifs really do tell as much of a story as the actual mode at times.
I just had a theory: You know how the hands are probably the hands of the child? Well, what if Galeem and Dharkon are the child's parents? That would explain how they're more powerful than the literal creator of the smash bros universe, and it gets kinda dark from here... Or should I say Dhark, anyways, maybe the reason the parents are fighting is because they're probably arguing a lot or maybe even going through a divorce.
Could be true. Considering that one wants to "Purge it from Darkness", indicating some form of a Mothers Overprotection and to keep her child away from any harm, even the minor ones, while the other wants to "Destroy the Light" indicating some form of abuse from the father, and that the child is suppose to wake up from this fantasy because he need to learn the harsh reality, and both the fighters and The Hands are against both ideals, wanting to make a life of their own and to not be pushed around by others opinions on what they should do in life. Because they made this dream happen, and they will keep it true until the are recognised for it
@@jockson7574 I think it's the kids imagination. The Master Hand being the one to "orchistrate" the kids amazing creation and keeping it in balance, while Crazy Hand being the simple moments where the kid just wants to have an absolute blast like it's on some form of sugar rush. At the very begining these were conflicting personalities, often the kid wanting only one of these things, but eventualy and with time the kid learned how to have a lot of fun while also having everything in order and to not over do it, hence why we now see both Master Hand and Crazy Hand working together as the same boss
@@axell15thewispmaster79 yeah true. But those ones that worked together. You think they could be the real master and crazy hand we’ve faced in the past smash series? Yk, the story modes and when they test your strength?
It’s pretty funny how two all powerful gods couldn’t band together for a few seconds without giving into the temptation to kill each other when exposed, but all the Super Smash Brothers fighters from MANY different realms and universes can set aside all their personal rivalries, differences and biases to fight the MAIN problem that threatens the entire multiverse. You know it’s bad when people like Mario and Bowser, Link and Ganondorf, Kirby and Meta Knight, Fox and Wolf, Donkey Kong and King K Rool can fight together as one and not two all powerful “gods”

Just keep forward, don't let yourself be beat. Just remember that balance is the key. Don't be halted by Galeem's blinding light. Don't be fooled by Dharkon, deep as the night. This theme was split into 3 motifs at the beginning of the adventure: Galeem's motif which you hear throughout the world of light, Dharkon's motif which you hear throughout the world of dark, and the fighters' motif which you hear at the conclusion of a battle.
You hear this song, beat world of light by beating both galeem and dharkon. Then you hear lifelight, and you realize, “wow, this whole storyline is really dark.”

Mario: let's-a GO! R.O.B. : TARGETS ACQUIRED. FINAL BATTLE INITIATED! Chrom: we won't let either of you control our fates. Here and now we take our worlds BACK!
My lyrics starting at 1:12 One foolish farce, waged by two gods, each one attacking to no end. And when the storm is calmed, the day is won, we may all return home! All these souls pertain a faint trace of light, hold them now and see the end full and bright. Do not waver and begin to fall back - show your vindiction and press the attack! Colors form into an awakened flame, Spirits raging as you call out their names! Bear your sword against the darkness and light - valor and courage shall shine through this unyielding fight!
1:30 Every soul contains a whisper of light, hear them now and see the end within sight. No retreat, no further need to hold back. Show your courage and prepare to attack! Colors weave into a spire of flame, spirits blazing as you fight in their name! Raise your sword against the dark and the light, might and valor will prevail in this ultimate fight! [reposting so i can find this easier :)]
More like: Every Soul cointains a whisper of light, Growing louder as it calls to unite, From the distance sings a chorus of souls, rising slowly stirring heat from the coals Colors weave into a spire of flames, distant sparks from a past still unnamed, Bear this torch into the cold of the night, Light will guide you on your way to the ultimate fight
1:30 He stands off with a god of light and dark. The final battle is at hand. He readies his blade as he screams from the depths of his own dark soul..."DORYAHHH!!!!!"
And then the sun grows some angel like wings and a black portal opens up to have a floating eyeball with floating tentacles show up and all of the sudden they both start throwing hands with eachother and you
Agreed, Smash is a celebration of gaming as a whole and this theme fits perfectly. Some other god tier ones are “After Despair and Hope” from XBC2 and “End of All” from FE Fates.
Galeem: Wants to save the world by freezing everything in its current state, stopping the flow of time itself. Dharkon: Wants to destroy the world. Galeem/Dharkon: Absolute Apocalypse if not stopped.
Never thought I'd be saving the multiverse (Mii Swordsfighter lol) alongside Link AND Sora in any official capacity! Thank you so much Sakurai for making so many players happy, I really was wishing to be able to use more than one fighter for the final showdown and I got my with granted. Absolutely phenomenal game.
Call me crazy, but I have a theory. This... this isn’t the end of the Smash storyline. It may very well be Sakurai’s conclusion, but as far as canon in-game events go, the endings of World of Light always interested me for some reason. Think about it. There were Spirits of characters from older Smash titles that appeared in this campaign. At the end of the game, all of the Spirits supposedly went back to wherever they came from. But if beings like Tabuu had been defeated in previous adventure modes... where are they now?
That actually makes sense. Spirits from the smash series… could be resurrected. I mean we should all know that the world of light is right after the events of the sub space emissary when tabuu is defeated and the space holes are gone. And the fighters all stare at a burning light that looks like an X meaning that foreshadows Galeem. So maybe tabuu or even if he has a counter part is being brought back to life or bringing him back to life. I do hope we get another smash switch title next year in 2023 and that would be cool as the switch would be the first console to possibly have a second smash series on the console. And a story mode in the game should definitely happen. Maybe it’ll be a mix of world of light and sub space emissary.
Anakin Skywalker: And I am all the jedi(yes he got revenge on Rey for burying his lightsaber in sand by stealing her line) *Anakin Skywalker for Smash*
It’s been years and I still love the fact that this fight is living proof that Galeem and Dharkon couldn’t work together to save their lives for even a SECOND.
And at the same time, people like Mario & Bowser, Link & Ganondorf, Samus & Ridley, Donkey Kong & King K Rool, Fox & Wolf, Kirby & King Dedede even Cloud & Sephiroth all had the ability to swallow their own pride and work together while two supposedly all powerful gods couldn’t even let go of their own grudges for even a second during the fight.
This theme really encapsulates the feeling of “the end” Incorporating the main theme while adding on to it to create a epic theme that really shows “it’s all or nothing”
Kirby: For all you other 80 or so fighters, this battle against the gods of light and dark was the most important moment of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday.
Honestly, I kind of wish that the fighters were able to use their Final Smashes against Galeem and Dharkon during the final battle. It would've been alot of extra work, sure, but it sure would've been awesome. I simply can't NOT imagine Kirby finishing off both with the Ultra Sword personally. Speaking of which, since Kirby is pretty much the protagonist of World Of Light, allow me to give Galeem and Dharkon some pause text a la the modern Kirby games: ''For eons, Galeem and Dharkon have quarreled with one another, seeking to permanently rid the world of light or darkness. What they don't know is that one side cannot truly exist without the other. Now, the time has come for the final battle! Vanquish your final foes and bring balance to the universe once and for all!''
Wait, how would the final smashes that involve sending everything caught in it to another place before the damage is dealt? Would galeem/dharkron have to be stunned before you could use it?
@@Epicboy099 Y'know, that's actually a good question. I suppose knowing Sakurai and his team they could probably find some way to make it work... Also, that reply of yours just gave me the mental image of Captain Falcon defeating Galeem and Dharkon via use of the Blue Falcon. Goodness, that's hysterical.
This final boss theme is absolutely magnificent. A really nice mix of both Galeem and Dharkon's themes. And then that part in the middle, oh my Gods, the music at 1:31 is so astounding. It just sounds so inspirational and triumphant. And then the theme turns back into a more serious tone before the song loops. I'm in love.
Maria: Please save them all, Bring their freedom! Break the power of the demise! It's the sunset we finally find our way Stepping into our tomorrow! Galeem and Dharkon: Every soul contains a whisper of light Hear them now and see the end within sight No retreat, no further need to hold back Show your courage and prepare to attack! Colors weave into a spire of flame, Spirits blazing as you fight in their name! Raise your sword against the dark and the light Might and valor will prevail in the ultimate fight!
I love how in the light realm you hear the first part of Ultimate’s theme. Those themes being The Light Realm: Prologue, The Light Realm: March, Master Hand’s theme and Galeem’s theme. I love how all of those themes are the first part of ultimate’s theme which is for the light. Then the dark realm uses Ultimate’s second part of the theme in the themes of The Dark Realm, Mysterious Space, Crazy Hand’s theme and Dharkon’s theme, all being the second part of ultimate’s theme. Then the theme in the actual final battle, plays the WHOLE theme song. You gotta love the message the story puts out here. Not only is Sakurai’s message of the story “no thing is better than the other, you must have balance between them” I love how even the THEME songs display that message. Such a genius
Something else I love: the chorus/the third part. ("Colors weave into a spire of flame..."). Here it's divided into two halves: one with Galeem's soundbank and the other with Dharkon's. It's implied that this segment being part of both represents the playable fighters, as they are a mix of both orderly good and chaotically bad individuals. Most of the tracks in WoL are only either the dark theme or light theme, depending on where in the game you are. However, there is one track with two of the three segments, and that's Master Hand's theme, which has not only the light theme but the balance/fighter's theme as well, and that's some big brain foreshadowing considering the final missions.
@@donovanmahan2901Nice catch, though I think those songs are limited for the purposes of keeping it short and not leitmotif reasons: victory theme is chorus+ light segment, defeat theme is just chorus.
What a beautiful ending battle theme!! My cousin finished his first playthrough of the World of Light, and it was a remarkable experience! We didn't get to hear this theme in full, but hearing it here, it's just something else! :)
My head cannon for the start of the battle is everyone makes it to the bottom of the ascent platforms galeem and dharkon notice this while still firing energy missiles at each other and send many copy fighters to distract the fighters the fighters deal with the first few waves but more keep coming someone suddenly calls out that they need to end this now then the three fighters you choose run to the bottom platform and then notice the other two they all look at each other and silently agree to ascend the platforms and take on all enemies to defeat the two squabbling deities
Galeem: You fight because you think it's the Final boss Dharkon: You fight because you think it's the true final boss Both: You fight for vengeance. You are tired of this long campaign and you need to see them destroyed.FOREVER!
Sure the world of light wasnt nearly as good as subspace, it was still amazing. Sakurai is a legend. by the way, my favorite part of the song is easily 3:58
I wonder if there's a planned stage where galeem and dharkon are the hazards and can use their abilities throughout the stage? Even entering the stage as a boss Hazard on occasion.
@Jerry Tong Ok why is there a Link Joker meme now. Link would never do anything evil and I don't even know who Joker from Persona 5 is but other than that they probably wouldn't work together and Link especially wouldn't do anything evil unless he was manipulated by someone like Ganondorf
Not going to lie below lifelight this one of my favorite theme of SSBU and another thing for people listing to this and not played the game trust me this fight is one of the most toughest boss fight in this game
This is actually the hardest fight in the game not even Master and Crazy Hand on 9.0+ difficulty is harder this kind of difficulty is unfortunately kinda hard to find in modern day final bosses for Nintendo especially with Breath of the Wild
Actually, its not as hard as you think. Having a strong spirit team helps, It also helps if you choose your strongest three characters going into the fight (i.e the three you are best with). Also, Galeem and Dharkon will damage eachother with their attacks, and will even outright attack the other when one of them gets stunned. Definitely a test of skill.
Didn't care much for World of Light as a whole, but man, this fight stood for how freaking cool the whole thing could have been. I also really loved just how much ascending to the final showdown makes you feel like a total pissant just gazing at a showdown between titans far beyond you. Then you get in there and beat them both anyway.
So, apparently, there’s a milestone for defeating them both at the same time. (I presume that the second one’s health must be depleted before the other one sorta ‘explodes’.) I got it first try? Worth.
Nope. It just means beating them both and getting the true ending. So instead of going for Galeem only or Dharkon only, go in the middle lane and "beat them both at the same time." You can focus on one but it's much easier to just attack them both, because they both have to be taken out anyway.
@@SamWiseTheGreat Not it is not. When there health reaches a certan point they enter a rage mode and there attacks become more firce. So I never take a swing at Galeem before Dharkon is dead to avoid having both in there rage mode at the same time. Thanks to the Celebi spirit that heals 5% every 5 seconds I can stay in the fight indefiantly if I dont get hit to often. Galeem on his own is pretty easy to deal with. It might take a bit longer becuse Dharkon is no longer there to Damage Galeem but its much safer.
Awaiting Terry's release so I can go full on CvS with a team of Ryu, Ken, and Terry...with how crazy this boss is, it feels fitting to pull a team like this together for it
As soon as I heard this song, put this up to 100% in My Music for FD. I still get goosebumps when the that part with the chorus from the E3 trailer kicks in.
This game changed so much since the time when I beat World of Light back in 2018 😢 5 years later I have my own Switch and absolutely crushed this beautiful Campaign
And on that day, The 100 year sleeping hero, the Legendary descended of the Belmont clan, and the most power beast in the Kanto region saved all reality.
This song kind of reminds of the Bowser’s Galaxy Generator theme from Super Mario Galaxy 2. Both of the songs are incredibly climatic, and they give that message that the fate of the universe is on the line.
Reminds me of Pong Krell from The Clone Wars Rex: "You're a Separatist." Krell: "I serve no one side, only my own." Some people: "Your own side is still a side."
the only stage that's worth it, honestly, this what the rest of the mode should have been, beating up enemies from many series as we advance through stages based on their series to reach a boss.
@@Starkiller156 I feel the same way Strong with content this game is not In fact here's a list of things that could have been added Hades as a boss fight, some assist trophies promoted to characters like Phosphora, Magnus, Alucard even Waluigi, more stages specifically final boss stages, more mini games, a play as the bosses game mode, Custom Characters return, Ganondorf gets a more unique moveset, and more playable characters altogether

After all the pain and suffering and self pushing Sakurai had gone through for this franchise this was the best way for him to leave us. This fight wasn’t about just defeating a pair of gods. This was about protecting what we love most.

Or have Hades hijack the plot

All this chaos, caused by two gods, each one still fighting another. Yet they refuse to end, let this wash away, making our dawn unreachable.

One mindless brawl, no end at all, and each one refusing to fall. When will this fighting cease, let there just be peace, and let all us become released?

No defeat, no further need to fall down - show your valor and call faith to shine down!

What?
This music is a fight in of itself. It includes motifs from Lifelight that belonged individually to Galeem and Dharkon. constantly fighting for which music will overpower the other so that they may be in control, and endless struggle.
Until this moment in 1:24, a motif that doesn't belong to them starts to sing.
*Every soul contains a whisper of light, growing louder as it calls to unite.*
*From the distance sings a chorus of souls, rising slowly stirring heat from the coals.*
It overpowered both Galeem and Dharkon's theme, the Fighters and Spirits coming together to create a united force stronger than those two combined.
I would hope that in the future, many others would read your statement and agree, just like I do
*1:30
Every time that part plays, it gives me goosebumps. Every time.
Because they made this dream happen, and they will keep it true until the are recognised for it
But then why are their 2 types of hands and sides (master and crazy hands) fighting each other?
I will tell you: master and crazy hands are players
"You've conquered both light and darkness!"
Now, finish the fight! Take down _both Galeem and Dharkon!_
Oh, and they both have *NEW attacks!*
And remember, use the infinity gauntlet, it may be helpful in your fight against the mad titan.
If Master Chief is the final DLC fighter, that part about "finishing the fight" will become a lot more poignant
Light and darkness have both been quelled!
Now is your chance! Defeat both Galeem _and_ Dharkon!

The X is where the Isle of the Ancients was.

@@rainstarsworld9429 also the fighters' theme is heard at the end of a battle, either when tallying the rewards or going to the defeat screen.

apagan0075 yes you are 100% correct.
I only could imagine
(I presume that the second one’s health must be depleted before the other one sorta ‘explodes’.)
I got it first try?
Worth.
Nope. It just means beating them both and getting the true ending. So instead of going for Galeem only or Dharkon only, go in the middle lane and "beat them both at the same time."
You can focus on one but it's much easier to just attack them both, because they both have to be taken out anyway.
Sam N Aw man, and I felt so special too. lmfao
Every final battle has great music.

Galeem's theme: an overpowering light
Dharkon's theme: infinite shadows
Galeem/Dharkon theme: YOU, will be the one to save the universe
This song kind of reminds of the Bowser’s Galaxy Generator theme from Super Mario Galaxy 2. Both of the songs are incredibly climatic, and they give that message that the fate of the universe is on the line.

Galeem: Be on my side
Dharkon: No, be on my side
Me: How about I’m on no one’s side
Because they want dominating the world, keeping the spirits and killing all fighters.
Reminds me of Pong Krell from The Clone Wars
Rex: "You're a Separatist."
Krell: "I serve no one side, only my own."
Some people: "Your own side is still a side."
This music is legendary!
the only stage that's worth it, honestly, this what the rest of the mode should have been, beating up enemies from many series as we advance through stages based on their series to reach a boss.
I wish there was more in general in ultimate this game was a disappointment
@@Starkiller156 I feel the same way
Strong with content this game is not
In fact here's a list of things that could have been added
Hades as a boss fight, some assist trophies promoted to characters like Phosphora, Magnus, Alucard even Waluigi, more stages specifically final boss stages, more mini games, a play as the bosses game mode,
Custom Characters return, Ganondorf gets a more unique moveset, and more playable characters altogether
I agree
@@Starkiller156 Go and make your own game with 75 characters then.
@@blackbomber72 Get lost. You clearly don't understand the Video Game Industry with that excuse.
It went from a funny field to a darker filled world
Dude, your fricken awesome for posting this
dammit who can agree that the Galeem & Dharkon True Final Boss is the best one in Smash History? Even it can be one of the best Final Bosses of all time, especially with this song, MY GOODNESS!! It makes you feel like you are legitimately facing Life and Death with this final boss...

1:28-2:00 IS THE BEST PART IN THE WHOLE SONG!!!!
YES! BEST PART OF THIS MUSIC!
Well, it's the main theme's refrain, at least the melody. And when you remember the vocals it makes it just so much more epic!
"Every soul contains a whisper of light
Growing louder as it calls to unite
From the distance sings a chorus of souls
Rising slowly, stirring heat from the coals
Colors weave into a spire of flame
Distant sparks call to a past still unnamed
Bear this torch against the cold of the night
Light will guide you on your way to the ultimate fight!"
That violin though!! 😃
Say what you want about World of Light. Yea I wish there was more character interaction in cutscenes but it gave us one of the BEST final bosses I’ve ever seen. I love the whole trope of light Vs dark. And finding the balance between the two. Reality as we know it will either burn in blinding light or die in eternal darkness. And it’s up to all of our favorite characters to prevent both outcomes.
It sucks that we never got the Galeem and Dharkon stage as a actual stage that you can pick.
