I got a 29k miles 2011 and the headrest are indeed HUGE (i had a 2009 before). Also mine has a air ride suspension delete - not sure why. I had the option to pick up a continental edition instead but it had 67k miles. The cool thing is the HID headlights (although they get hot it seems), makes it look more modern. Mine had a dealership installed satnav system which closely resemble the ones available back in 06-07 but I replaced it, it was soooo slow.

I did a lot of research on the Town Cars and Grand Marquis. I have driven a 2011 Town Car and they cheapen them up on the last year. No storage in arm rest. No rear air bags , which I guess is not all bad. They still worth it.

These things are becoming harder to find at least the low mileage ones and the ones that have been taken care of.
I'd love a low mileage Vic or Towncar low being between 50,000 and 80,000.
These are great cars but at around the 100,000 mark they begin at some time requiring more maintenence like ball joint replacement, alternators, shocks, air ride, compressors, timing chains. Wins shield wiper motors, transmission repair etc. And more. I've replaced all these items on my car.
    All this can add up.
I have a Crown Vic Sport with 240,000 on clock that I decided to keep.
I made a decision to replace parts as they go bad and have just about replaced or repaired most everything that can go bad. Basically I have what amounts to a newer car.
I would have to think long and hard about replacing it simply because I don't want to go thru the expense and trouble replacing parts again .
In the long run cheaper to do this than buying a new car.
    Enjoy yr videos.

Thank you for your comment and support! I'm right there with you. Soon to hit 100K on my 06 and already invested heavily into keeping this thing on the road so it will be quite stupid to part ways at this point. I fixed: rust, seats, both seat belt pretentioners (will post video soon), somewhat fixed rims, wheel bearing and the "knuckle" it sits in (another video to post) so no point in quitting now :)

Same for Crown Victoria, 2011 Crown Victoria head rests are massive compare to my 2010. I guess 2011 is the only year with those massive head rests!

Yeah, those things are ridiculous and look cartoonish looking. If my Town Car had them, I think I would have swapped them for normal ones.

I think all Town Cars from the last couple years of production had these ridiculous things due to some new regulations.

On the factory sunroof: I’ve read that was not available after 2007 - 2008 and newer did not offer a factory sunroof. A few moneyed buyers paid to have a factory sunroof retrofitted - on a super rare basis you will see a 2008 and newer with a sunroof that was added on at the dealer level But using factory parts. From 2003 and up the Town Car suffered from decontenting; They slowly started stripping away features and options, starting with dropping the Cartier name after 2093 to save on licensing costs.

Don't understand why sunroof were such a taboo :) its just a sunroof and not some super complex options

Yep. Mine shure leaked so had to replace the gasket and realign the glass. ~$100 in part and labor. Not too big of a deal, but I love cruising with that tilted glass

As you may already know, Town Car production ended at the Wixom USA plant in 2007, and then resumed in the Canada St. Thomas plant in 2008 - it was then made alongside the Crown Vic and Grand Marquis. I imagine they dropped the sunroof for production line expediency - so that there was only one model of Town Car body shell that they needed to fit into production. Also I do not know if the sunroof was a factory available option on the 2003 to 2007 Crown Vic or GM - so the production line may not have been set up for this option - so dropping it from the available Lincoln options was the easiest way to add Lincoln production in to the St. Thomas assembly plant.

My personal preference has always been towards having a sunroof on every car I have owned (when available), and I also have owned convertibles. None of my sunroof equipped cars has ever leaked, but if they did I would have simply replaced the gasket no big deal. I have had convertibles that were difficult to seal where the windshield, convertible top, and side window glass meet (just a very small drip). The sunroof was one of my must have options when Town Car shopping, it is one of the reasons I bought a 2006 rather than a 2008-2009 (the 2010 and 2011 were out of contention because they had deleted the rear air ride in those last two years).
