    Bravo all!!!!, Ms. Kleiter is a fresh wind crossing through our hearts. She really resembles the perfect voice of an angel. Soft, tender and with a perfect vocal technique that allows al us to haear her divine voice and talent. Ms. Brill at the clarinet also gives us a heartfelt interpretation, that completes the wonderful ensemble with Mr. Gees piano. Ah!, lucky people present that day in the audience; they had a share with pure "music of soul".BRAVIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Well spoken and showing your (our) appreciation for fine artists and composition. Only one minor detail. Angels don't sing! But I think I know where you are coming from since I experience exuberance listening to this also.

    Wonderful! What a genius Schubert was and how tragic his early death. Julia Kleiter's singing is lovely and the clarinettist mellifluous. "Der Frühling will kommen, Der Frühling meine Freud' " - what an encouraging thought as another horrible winter sets in and I'm looking forward to being able to say again "nun mach' ich fertig zum wandern bereit" !!

      It's so true. It amazes me how much Schubert wrote during his 31-year life. I have read that "Der Hirt auf dem Felsen" was the last piece he wrote.

    Isn't Schubert wonderful? Elly Ameling had a recital town of Weston, MA. 1974 and had a pleasure of meeting her. She was one of my favorite sopranos besides Lotte Lehmann. I just found another favorite soprano. Thank you for posting. Of course my praise goes to the superve musicians at the piano and the clarinet.

    I don't think that I gave due credit to this trio of artists performing Schubert's Dert Hirt aut dem Felsen. They bring this wonderful work of Schubert to an emotional climax that can be felt by the listener. They are wonderful in all aspects. I now, after listening to them, think that this is the best performance of the work that I have ever heard. Perfect involvement of ensemble feeling and expression.

    I am doing my senior recital this semester and am trying to figure out how to record it afford-ably. This is lovely. I enjoy having the video, but the balance is very nice as well. Could you tell me what was used to record this or if this was professionally done? Thanks so much.

    • @phillipshearman5597
      @phillipshearman5597 6 років тому

      Professionally done is usually disappointing but sadly very common. Here was used a small diaphragm solid-state mic on the voice that makes the sound thin (without a full body) and a larger diaphragm mic on the clarinet that kept it from sounding like a toy. The long wire runs do not help either. The piano mic was over the bass hammers that made the piano sound more percussive and promotes listening fatigue. There were most likely two microphones off-camera that supplied the stage-position feel to the balance. Then we have UA-cam's limitations added to all that. Too bad really for such a memorable performance. Why do we listen to these bad recordings anyway? We gave up the CD format for MP3 and UA-cam? CD's were just starting to get good (5% anyway).

    • @HowardEllisonUKVoice
      @HowardEllisonUKVoice 4 роки тому

      @@phillipshearman5597 As a long ago trained BBC recordist I do share your concerns about sound limitations -UA-cam, DAB radio, the rest. But these three marvellous musicians held me spellbound, and I really didn't much notice the shortcomings on this occasion. A touch of low-mid lift helps.
      It could have been so much worse: a single on-camera mic perhaps, with non-adjustable mic level and crashing compression! Anyway, homage to Schubert.

    whats wrong with the pianist? he's confusing both the clarinetist and the singer. he's playing the bass notes way too softly

    • @phillipshearman5597
      @phillipshearman5597 6 років тому

      The bass notes may not be totally his fault. Tuning in equal temperament deadens the sound of the piano makes a 9' piano sound smaller than a properly tuned upright piano.

      Audio equipment may be at fault: emphasizing treble; dampening bass.

    visually, brill ought to be chained to her music stand. her choreographed playing is a major distraction from kleiter's sensitive singing and gees' collaboration. this collection reminds one of the superlative recording of Benita Valente, with no less a pianist than the great Rudolf serkin.

    • @windycitysinger

      I think they make a really nice piece of music. The way how the clarinettist is playing is her way of expressing the music. Maybe big movements, but is how some people play. I think you are not clarinetplayers , so you don't understand this. Some people don't move at all and then some people in the audience also have critic. It is the music which counts. And this is really beautiful!

      It really doesn't bother me, I'm more interested on knowing on which instrument she's playing. I think it's not a vintage instrument - what would be very interesting -, but a modern instrument made on brown wood.
