  • Hi everyone! Here is another best & worst comparing DRUGSTORE CONTOUR PALETTES. SWATCHES of all 12 palettes are included. All product info will be listed below. Thank you so much for watching! Please don't forget to SUBSCRIBE + LIKE + SHARE if you found this video helpful.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The first and most important step before you contour is knowing your skin's undertones. So are you warm (olive, yellow undertone), cool (pink/beige undertone), or neutral? The easiest way is to look at your veins on your wrist. If your veins appear green then you are warm in undertone. If they are blue then cool. If you have a mix of both blue & green then neutral. Based on that you can determine your contour shade. Cool undertones or fair skin tones do best with ashy, gray, cool contours. Warm undertones can use warmer powders like a matte bronzer without it looking muddy or too orange. Neutral undertones can use either or a more neutral shade of contour. Dark skin tones usually work best with deeper chocolate shades that have a red undertone like the one in the Ulta Contour Kit. And in terms of depth, for the most natural contour, you want to pick a color that is 1-2 shades darker than your skin tone/base foundation. I personally lean more neutral to yellow but my natural skin tone is also fairly light so I find that I can use either warm or cool but prefer cool tones for contouring my nose. Hope that helps.

    I think you have a lot of appeal for people who don't necessarily use much makeup because they don't find it to be all that interesting. You do a great job of describing more of the details and nuance of what is going on with both the aesthetics and the actual products. Glad I came across your videos, nice job!

    as a makeup brand i feel they have a responsibility to come out with shades that fit every skin tone, how in the world could they think its acceptable to release a product that has no color pay off what so ever???

    • @juliej9187
      @juliej9187 8 років тому +4

      To be fair though money wise there are most caucasians that POC living in the US so money wise it makes sense. Regionally they may produce different shades based on the demographics of people that live there

    • @letsjazzitup
      @letsjazzitup 8 років тому +9

      its ridiculous that no one really seems to cater to face products for women of colour. Maybe it is a minority, but its still a big enough audience if you want to look at it in that way

    Revolution is one of my favorite brands. Their concealer is exactly like Tarte's Shape Tape and their prices are better than the drug store. I don't know how they can make their products such great quality yet be so soo cheap. I love their Banana Baking powder for only $8...it's amazing.

    I am on the lighter side and I am soooooo thankful you addressed every skin tone in this. I have bought several palettes and products that "go on perfectly" only to realize they're about 3 shades too dark. Your video I can share with all my friends too because it includes all our tones! Thanks! Also we love drugstore products, not a lot of money so this helps.
    Suggestion for new video: go through all the brushes in a set and explain their use and why they're most effective at that particular thing

    Yay! You are back.
    First, regarding Pixie's packaging -- I really don't love paying for packaging, so I like the new cardboard packaging. It is also far more ecologically sound, using fewer resources to create than plastic, with fewer damaging gack going out from the processing.
    The other thing is... a middle finger is just a middle finger until someone makes it "the finger". Don't even worry!

    • @NathalieK25
      @NathalieK25  8 років тому +1

      You are absolutely right about Pixi's packaging. The more I thought about it, the more I was happy they went that route. I do enjoy a good mirror included in a palette, but I have so many now that it is refreshing to see a company take a more environmentally conscious approach. And thank you for not being offended by my choice of fingers ; )

    I have the Elf Contour Palette and I actually like it for my fair skin. I love the Bronzer shade in there in fact, I also have a sample size of the Ciate London Bamboo Bronzer and I compared them both and to me, they looked very similar to each other. Whenever I find and buy makeup, I always try to find ways to make them work for me and I was surprised that I was able to find a way to make my Elf Contour Palette work for my porcelain like fair skin. Thank you for the ideas! I only buy cruelty free brands and thank you for that!:)

Not that big of a fan of the countour color but I use it on everyday use days where I don't want a striking contour and I want something subtle.

    New subscriber here- your videos are absolutely fantastic! I feel like your reviews are much more thorough than a lot of the "big" makeup gurus, plus you pick products I can actually afford. I'm living out of the country for school so I have to order my makeup online to have my mom ship to me and your videos were soooo helpful for me to decide which new products I should try without being able to actually go to Target and see them in person. Your videos are bound to get super popular soon because they are so helpful! Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more in the future!

    I have a question - I've always been told by professional MUA's that ashy contour colors are bad. That they leave the skin & you, looking "dull & like you're unhealthy/sick".
    Now, I am utterly confused. . Could you elaborate on your preference for ashy, grey undertones & how you believe they are better? Thanks!

      Hi, Megan.

    The rimmel by sculpting palette in the mid tone Coral glow was my first contour product, I still use it to this day, the contour shade is not the best as it is on the glowy side but does not translate too glowy on my skin and imo it is the most cool toned of the three options. Dulce De leche is my current favorite. I would like to try the elf contour quad but a couple of shades in their light bronzer quad are good contours for me so I don't think I need the contour one at this point. That ashy catrice contour shade looks so good but I rarely shop at ULTA

      I have that Catrice contour duo. The colour is nice but I find I really have to work hard to build it up, even on my pale skin. The highlight is very subtle. I think they might actually have discontinued it.

    I have the wet and wild contour palettes. I love it one thing I will say is that if you drop them the powder is completely gone demolished rip powder. I've dropped 2 of them and both times they were toast.
