As a former Baptist minister, I can tell you I knew Jesus Christ and I knew that Jesus Christ would restore Israel and His Church. In 1948 I heard the United Nations Restore Israel on my short wave radio. I knew there had to be more and I was searching for His restored Church. I found it. I testify with all my mind, heart and soul that His Church has been restored with the Fullness of the Gospel, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints which I joined in June 1970. For 50 years I have heard all the anti-Mormon arguments and it has always been reconfirmed to me that this Church is True and is the Restored Church of Jesus Christ. I am 82 years old with my full mind. My father, a former Baptist minister also joined this Church in October 1970 and served as a Bishop and a Full Time Mission to Bath, New York in 1974. My wife and I are sealed in God's Holy Temple in 1972 (we have been married for 63 years and will be bound together forever). I am the same Christian as I was as a Baptist but as a member of His Church I have learned so much more. Amen

The depth of your witness will be sufficient to help millions of others to reach the tipping point, thereby strengthening and fortifying their faith. May the Lord bless you and your posterity for your courage to stand for and commit to this great cause

@@lloydrichmond2262 Thank you for your comment. Some anti-mormons say we worship a different Christ. Nonsense, Jesus Christ is the same from my childhood to this present day. I pray to Him, I tithe to Him to support this world mission; the meeting houses, charities, Temples and broadcasting to the world members and others that are interested. This Church doctrine is eternal, it is the fullness of the Gospel. We are spiritual sons and daughters of Heavenly Father and our bodies are made in His likeness and His image. Jesus Christ our Savior and Redeemer has provided the redemptive Grace for our resurrection and to show our belief in Him enough to Follow Him, so we can be Joint Heirs with Jesus Christ from our Heavenly Father. From the foundation of the fullness of the Gospel our doctrine, the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price is in harmony with the Holy Bible. You cannot judge the Latter Day Scriptures from a man made doctrine and from a false premise. This Church is the Church of the Master, Jesus the Christ, the Son of God. God chose an open vessel to restore His Church. Everything Joseph Smith did, he had to pray and ask God for direction. All the witnesses that gave their all, including their lives in defense of and to build the Kingdom of Jesus Christ is an additional testimony to all that will sincerely ask God for confirmation. He tells us in Monori 10:4 how to obtain it. Amen

For 13 years I have listened to or read Helaman and 3 Nephi with a resonating spirit that validates this vital part of the Book of Mormon. The comments you leave here unite our faith and increase our endurance. Thank you B Halverson for listening to the Spirit as you teach. Your service brings a body of Saints to a higher level of hope. Also, it is a second or third witness that is always accompanied by the Spirit. May light increase in intensity so that we will all see more perfectly.

Loads of excellent ideas here, thank you! One thing was extra “enlightening” to me. I had often wondered why God didn’t create light first-how could he have divided the land from the water without light? Now it totally makes sense. He himself is light! He didn’t need the light of the sun to create the world! So awesome! I also love the analogy of the 3 shelves. And the part about the church not being complete/9th Article of Faith. Thanks so much for your program! It is so appreciated.

Jared, I have what is likely an ignorant question but hoping you can enlighten my own pondering with what you know. Pondering the idea of being cursed and having “dark skin” being righteous and having “light skin” I simply googled (dangerous I know🙃) the meaning of the word skin in Hebrew and found this:
“Psalm 104:2 says, “The LORD wraps himself in light as with a garment.” The actual clothing of God is “light.” The Hebrew word for “light” is also pronounced ore.
    רא “Ore” Strong’s 216 - light
    רע “Ore” Strong’s 5785 - skin”
So my thoughts are it’s not the actual skin as we interpret in modern language that becomes dark or light, but the “Ore” of God within us all that either becomes bright/white in our righteousness, or dark as we are cursed and separate ourselves from God and therefore the light/“skin” Ore goes dark. Just my random pondering thought? Not critical to my faith and can totally put this on the “to be revealed” and understood later shelf!

I posted quite a while ago about this, but so you may know now, in speaking about skin color (light/dark), native American people used "Redskin" as a self-identifier originally:
      www.npr.org/sections/codeswitch/2013/09/09/220654611/are-you-ready-for-some-controversy-the-history-of-redskin
Here are some meanings of color:
      www.warpaths2peacepipes.com/native-american-culture/meaning-of-colors.htm
I had a history professor who had a doctorate in the native peoples of Montana and they called themselves "Redmen" bc a red man was a courageous man. So as you said, the color of someone's 'skin' had nothing to do with their skin color, it had everything to do with their character. So the color of your skin was in reference to what kind of a person you were. We use the term 'skin' like this too when we say someone is thin or thick skinned. We are not actually talking about how thick their skin is, we are talking about their emotional strength. Thank you for posting what you learned. It's really amazing.

As a descendant of the Lamanites, I have always understood this verse and all references to the changes of their skin to white as a metaphor of my strive to be more obedient and a covenant keeper. My skin tone does not change as I am more faithful in keeping my covenants with my Heavenly Father. What does change is the way I feel about myself. I have felt and experienced an enlightenment, clear thinking, and real joy as if I had stepped out of darkness. As I stand firm in my faith and keeping my covenants, that light becomes a permanent part of me.

Thank y’all for your thoughts as well. It is not a critical topic for testimony, but interesting to ponder. I remembered something from my childhood, I could see people surrounded by light, particularly when in church Sacrament meeting, I could see a bright light outlining them, I guess described as a light aura(sounds like ore perhaps?) I remember around 9/10 ish wondering why I didn’t see it anymore. Again probably and maybe nothing, and honestly not important overall to testimony, just one of those things that makes you wonder😊❤️ It does lend to beautiful visual of how we can be “a light to the world “ when we follow Christ The light of the world, and keep our Covenants.

@@Unshaken In our family as I taught my children from the scriptures, we noticed that before Nephi undertook any big challenge (i.e. "go get the brass plates", etc) he gathered his doubting brothers and did what were call a "Nephi Review"--- what you refer to as dusting off Shelf #1---i.e. let's recall how the Lord led our ancestors away from Pharoah, divided the Red Sea, etc. It definitely strengthened their faith. We found that as we conducted such a verbal Review with our children before difficult times, our faith was similarly strengthened.

Thank you for the time and effort you have put into your videos. It struck me as you told of Bro. Turley's visit to Isaac Russell that it was an essential component of the Lord's plan. The mob met at Far West later that morning, planning to thwart the fulfilment of Joseph's prophecy. Without Isaac Russell to tell them otherwise at the end of the day they would have spread the word the Joseph was a false prophet; they had spent all day at the temple site and the twelve had never even shown up. Insted Isaac Russell was there to tell them, "Might as well go home guys, you're too late."

I have a real concern though (this is my second comment..) Regarding the Nephites at this time when there were either the saints or the Gadiantons. I see the Church today being so polarized by politics. It seems that a lot of members think that if another member supports a certain party, they couldn’t possibly be a good “Mormon”. That’s very disturbing to me. It gives a whole new dimension to the word clique. I wish so much this polarization would stop.

I was reading in third Nephi chapter 1 today about the sign being fulfilled of a day a night and a day being light. If it were light in the Americas for a day, a night, and a day, wouldn’t it have been dark over in Bethlehem for a day, a night, and a day? They are roughly 9 hours ahead of us. But we don’t have any record of this in the Bible. What are your thoughts on this?

Today a woman took the card and came back 10 minutes later to tell me I believed in a different God than she did. She said God the Father was one with the son and the holy ghost. I said they were one in purpose. She disagreed. She kept on talking about why I was wrong. Ine of the last things she said before she walked away was that they are one in purpose. Question!
How can I get confidence in the bible, as I do have for the book of Mormon?
The reason I am asking simply is that I believe the bible leaves out precious and honest truths!?! Where I believe that The Book of Mormon picks it back up!
"The book of Mormon means the restoration of the covenant".

My prayer is that you will find enough solace in the journey that it will fill you with Thanksgiving and greater courage. For those who might dismiss this person’s comment, please pause. At least we are all part of a great cause and depend on one another to receive succor. Like good lemonade, lemons are needed. The Spirit is the sugar carrier.🍋
