Beautiful restoration. Those Merlin’s wake up so smartly, unlike radials coughing and farting. My hats off to the crew that are doing all the work...tons of dedication!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I was so priveliged to see the Canadian Lancaster come to the UK and subsequent flights of them both together at air shows. I hope we get to see THREE of these beautiful old ladies fly together as a wing! I truly hope the Canadians will return to to do this. Our aircrews deserve the tribute of all the work these people do, all my hopes are with you - from a retired RAF aircraft fitter. My old Land Rover is ex RAF shes 51! Theres no laboured cranking of these Merlins - these are BRITISH and go 'on the button'! The pride that went into every single rivet that went into aircraft during the war and still continuing. Boy, She looks so good out in the grass! Must have been a great feeling of relief and accomplishment for the crew to see her strut around and know it's due to their hard work and dedication. Great job everyone! Another good job of keeping us all in the know Neville - Thanks!
You should have taken to the local pub and had a pint and then back to the air drone. I love to hear the sound of those Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. they have a sound all their own. That is a Beautiful paint job on it. Thanks for the video. Good luck with it.
Many thanks for all the effort you have put in to film all this Neville. In the future this may all become a historical document, once again my thanks. Jim
You guys did great my late uncle would be proud sqn 51 I feel your pride I saw as you work that’s the same spirit that they had way back ww2 well done all 🇦🇺👍❤️👋
Wow never gets old Witnessed live the start up of 2 engines on the Lancaster in Nanton Alberta Canada a Lanc that wont be flown but restored to static running condition and a plane that I played in back in the late fifties as it sat abandoned
You're doing a wonderful service! much appreciated by a Lanc-loving Antipodean. What's the story on the forward fuselage of the silver Lanc? Does it have a future at some stage, or is it being used for parts?
That bare aluminum nose section in the background is from a Canadian Lancaster fuselage. What’s the story on that one? From where did you acquire it? How did it come to be in England?

When is the maiden flight planned, do they add lead in the 100 octane avgas, it lubricates and cools the valves I believe.
Thanks once again Neville. This must be the moment when not only can you see what you've achieved but best of all.....hear it! Is there a more evocative sound ? probably, but can't think of any right now! Is there a reason why number 1 was not started? I'm sure some one must have said but l missed it, was it the fuel pipe?
I hope younger men are being trained to carry out every aspect of maintenance and repair of these magnificent machines? Otherwise the day will come when there's no one left alive to do so.
Their in the 2nd year of a 10 year plan to make the Lancaster airworthy for a sustain period of time once completed. Such is explained in a previous video by Mr. Wheeldon ua-cam.com/video/UsZporj8nQU/v-deo.html. Cheers!

Sorry meant to add @ 11:35 that other Lancaster nose section reminded me of a volunteer team like yourselves at the British Columbia Aviation Museum who traced an identical aircraft that was in bits and had been in outside display. They shipped it to BC and I have been following their work as well. They had volunteers but as they intend to restore it to flying condition they had to go through a lot of training before they even started. Of course Canada has a special attachment to the Lancaster (as VERA proves) as many were built there and so many brave young Canadians (and Americans enlisted in the RCAF) flew them. This is their latest report but its worth looking further back on their channel to see where they started. ua-cam.com/video/_uWcQjjrRKs/v-deo.html
Great job and fantastic dedication to a very worthy cause but they could have shaved a whole year just by getting the original "war ladies" to put it back together like they did back then.
My uncle was killed in a Lancaster, call sign LM619 in 1945, these planes should be kept flying including the Vulcan, money is no object to some people an governments these babes are History.
I was there yesterday and managed to ask Andrew Panton the same question.. They had ordered a new fuel price pump part (fuel cock?) 10 months ago as they thought the one that fed Engine 1 was going to fail. It has, finally. They hope to get the new part in a few weeks so I imagine that engine will be back in action soon.
@@peterlancaster4876 Thanks. It is absolutely amazing they have gotten this far. I have helped restore a few warbirds and simple things can hold you up for years.

Nice for the UK Lancs to fly to Canada for all the same reasons, too.
There are another two MKX Lancs being restored to flight in Canada, Alberta and BC. So how about four in flight!
I just can´t even imagine the feeling of being into that cockpit and starting those Merlins...!

What's the story of the Lanc nose section in the background ?
As ever, thanks for taking the time to film and upload the progress.
As I remember it's an original nose section - KB976 - built up by the owner Jeremy Hall into a replica forward fuselage. See www.avro-lancaster.org.
Thank You, another super video.
This a great job restoring part of our history of war, but we just never ever learn from it
Sad. thanks for watching Gary
Magnificent. Thumbs up. I see a few residents of Hamburg have voted a few thumbs down.
Thanks for watching DBC
Incredible Well done... why didn´t you fire on the left outer motor ?
Vid mentioned a fuel problem on engine no1 - I'm assuming that had something to do with it.

Is she being returned to full flight or will it be a taxi only plane?

So how much work does she need before becoming airworthy?

Is/will this Lancaster be restored to flying condition?
YES in about seven years 2019

Sorry to ask this and I bet you hear it a lot like to know if it’s been restored to fly
Yes seven years to go
Great job and fantastic dedication to a very worthy cause but they could have shaved a whole year just by getting the original "war ladies" to put it back together like they did back then.
Yes they would have enjoyed that.
How is the return to flight certification going?
I'm just a visitor to the centre , I'l pass on that one ,7even years left of restoration. Thanks for watching

I dont know why there is no four blades on thoses engine propeler like on the fighters.
Is it can fly ? Passed ?
John Elliott not for another 8 years then she will fly
Seems odd they did not scan the Land.
I meant to write Lanc, with hand held scanners the entire aircraft could be done then the 17 foot radius mystery could be solved, cheers from Bangkok
Why start only 3 engines
Fuel leak on No 1
