Hi! I want to show my gratefulness to you. Now I train two things. My english and my transalp skills for maintenance and adjust to my conditions. I buyed my transalp 650 with 110.000km and needs my attention... I will learn with you both... subscribed!
How do you kmow how much you should screw in the big nuts at the top of the shock (how much to pre load the spring). Do you measure SAG and adjust after instalation?
The SAG on road bikes is different than in offroad bikes, and the Transalp can be used for both, so it's up to you depending on your main use. Personally, I try first with the stock setting and test the bike on my favourite terrains (offroad, mountain roads), from there I adjust a couple times with more testing and then stick to that. Cheers!
I was wondeing why You ddidn't choose the simple way - to change dog bones lenght but I see that Honda didn't implement this parts but different link that is more difficult to craft and replace.
Hey mate! As I explain in the video, the easiest way is to flip the dogbone, but that raises way too much the rear, which makes difficult to balance with the front unless you replace the whole fork, and also makes the swingarm works with too much angle, which makes the rear suspension react violently when accelerating or cutting.
@@coastrider8881 I undestand that the simplest way is usually not a proper one. I understand You was looking for a proper way and what You did is all good. But the same result You would get by chcnging dog bones - this was my thought before I realised that Honda did it different way - without dog bones (different to many other bikes lik f.e. Suzuki's).

you can lift the ta650 by flipping the shock linkage
Yes, and at the begining of the video I explain why I don't like that option.
@@coastrider8881I changed the brake line, got a lower seat, and raised the front also using modified fork caps.
