Stevie's face when Jaxon starts rapping along to Coolio is hilarious.
The 90s was WITHOUT A DOUBT the BEST era for RnB and hip hop 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Hip Hop, yes. R&B, there were no doubt great songs (basically singers over Hip Hop beats) but the 70s were better. Bill Wither, The O'Jays, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Al Green, The Isley Brothers, Earth Wind & Fire, Sly and the Family Stone...
Jaxon is always on point with his musical knowledge. His mama raised him right. 😂
That’s so true. He knows a lot of songs from every genre, can name literally all animes and movies in challenges and is entertaining as hell. I do like him 😂
Jaxon is the best one on all these react episodes. He was raised right.
@@buckeyefan20012001 i agree. The first time I saw him was in kids react and everytime they upload a video I hope jaxon is in there :D
I know sp much more at 14 and i actually have testosterone instead of being a feminine embarrassment
@@ConradThePalamitehow knowing more songs give you more testosterone? Are you just projecting your insecurities?
There's a reason why I think the 90s was the most unique era. It's BECAUSE there was so much of a mixed bag of different genres (rock, hip hop, R&B, pop) with EACH artist/group were STARVING for originality, creativity, & individuality. It was just so HARD to simply DEFINE that decade as a WHOLE. I LOVED it!
Funny you say that as the Grunge genre was complete astroturf and the music industry was going out of their way to kill metal.
@@vagabondwastrel2361out of there way to get rid of hair metal atleast from the artist perspective 😂
Gangsters Paradise was huge. Still plays on the radio here in South Africa. Everyone knows it
I'm very proud of that one dudes parents lmao they doing something right 🤣🤣🤣
Fosho 😂
yeah seems like that boy's dad is someone we could hang out with
@@bmpetrov definitely
We were lucky to get pac instead of lil yachty
why they even in the same sentence 💀
This generation has Kendrick who is a way better rapper than Tupac and Vanilla Ice was big in the 90s. Music always had great artists and shit ones that were popular
I was born 5 years after he died 😢😢 but at least I got em, kenny and cole
Pretty sure u haven't heard lil yachty last album
90s hip-hop is the 🐐 era
As a fellow White guy heavily into the 90's rap scene (and Grime in general), seeing Gen Z White Boys knowledge put a big smile on my face. Black Girl gets respect too, she was great entertainment. I love seeing videos like this where people can have a laugh over the diversity, instead of all the negative BS that exists today. Wholesome W Video, great find Stevie.
Grime is underrated
Im so glad I grew up in the 90s. technically i was born in 82 but Highschool was 96-200
Do you mean grime from England or are you from america and there’s a genre called grime from back in the day over there? Lmk aha
90’s Hip Hop is really when the evolution of hip hop began and became mainstream it’s important for any hip hop lover to know the founders and people who pushed hip hop mainstream and for everyone to reach
90s music in general was peak.
We had just enough technology but not too much that you were constantly on it the way people are today. Thank god we didn't have camera phones back then!
Chill reaction... sometimes we gotta let go of societal problems
Every generation feels their generation had the best music and I think it has a lot to do with memories created because music is such a large part of our memories. I prefer my 80s era but also dabble in the 90s. 💐
Good point
I agree!
Not really. Nostalgia only goes so far. most rap these days are practically unlistenable. Metal music almost doesn't exist compared to other genre of music.
I don't think can say that today generations has "best music" when we talk about hip hop or rap, because you can barely understand what today's artists saying and what they say is couple vulgar nonsense words..
I wouldn’t say that. Born in the 70’s, child of the 80’s, teen and young adult of the 90’s. I can listen to just about anything made before 2003, all the way down to the 1930’s. Todays music is crap.
Alternative rock music was super poppin in the 90s too!! 90’s music overall was just amazing and I’m glad it was my time!!
Oh, man... We truly had it all, didn't we? We were the pre-internet and post-internet kids. We had to spend $2.99 per minute to call the helpline on videogames instead of Googling the answers, and we spoke with our mouths and not a keyboard.
I never did or ever will understand Minesweeper, though. I always clicked the mouse haphazardly and hoped for the best.
Definitely agree, not sure where you’re from but over here in the UK we had bands like Oasis, Blur & Pulp that were killin it! I know he’s more pop but I also really loved Robbie Williams. If you’ve never heard of him or seen it look up his Knebworth concert, it was amazing! Nostalgia overload for me!
I'm def biased, but 90's and early 2000's like you said was definitely the best time for art. Not just music, but movies as well. Going to the mall and hitting up Tower Records to buy the latest albums, or blockbuster. It was such a delayed gratification.
🎤This was the golden era of hip hop🎤
Steve liked that white kid 😂I could see how he was rooting for him lol👏
"Of course he know" XD. We know the real one
My man with the sweater and collar shirt is about that life. Not in real life but like in his room rapping all the words to every song.
There are some really Zen Gs in Gen Z...
It's crazy how rap rock and r&b was great in the same time frame
I am happy I was not extremely disappointed with them..They actually were much better then expected! There is hope, for real!
Yeah this happens a lot of the time, there's a ton of songs I definitely heard before but I couldn't tell you the name of it, with any genre honestly, we all heard a song that we liked and then we're like "Fuck, what's the name of that song?"
Also I love how everyone was vibing, this songs slap still till this day.
My older sister drove me to school. She played "Gangsta's Paradise", stop, rewind the cassette (yes, i said cassette) and play it again. The ENTIRE way to school. It took us 20 mins to get to school bc we lived in the boondocks. And then the whole way back was "Gangsta's Paradise". I actually broke down and cried after about a week. Then "Still Not A Player" came out and I was given a reprieve.
Then i got my DL. 🫠
It has taken me over 20 years to be able to be in the same room when Gangsta's Paradise is played
Im 36...I miss my hip hop days as a teen. Some of the best parties of my life were those beats and lyrics. I got a Lil' Kim and DMX CD back when I needed my parents' permission to buy the CDs. Don't ask me if I knew what all the lyrics meant---I didnt! The Jungle DnB scene was also influenced by this era. Golden age of rave music.❤
You're right, Stevie! 90's was an amazing time for music and culture. Real artists with heart. PS: 2Pac was physically a black Adonnis statue of male beauty. Gorgeous dude.
PAC is overrated garbage
It was good to see how much they did know! 😁.
I definitely feel privileged to have been able to grow up in this era of music 🎶
That was nostalgic AF! thanks for making me feel old Stevie😉
Their parents are held responsible for this. My daughter is 9 an listens to Taylor swift on a regular. But she obviously knows PAC, DMX, and Big.
Your daughter has awful taste 😂
Wherever you we shall subscribe. Love from Uganda
Stevie Wonder wouldn't let Coolio use his song till he took out all the cussing and the lyrics couldn't be as aggressive as Coolio's original draft. Once Stevie approved of the lyrics, they went to the studio to finish producing the final song for Dangerous Minds.
I definitely gotta get the type of shirt you're wearing. That's on point.
gangsters paradise was in one of the recent sonic the hedgehog movies. so yes it is alot more well known now because alot of the younger generation has now heard it lol
This was fun . Brought back memories.
90s music will always be the best my play list is full of 90s Hip hop R&B Rock music . 🔥🔥🔥
that took me back to my teen years back in germany thx much luv to yall
Why do all the "male" gen Z's have surplus sugar in the tank? What are they putting in the water these days?
Plastic
It’s the type of people who would want to be in one of these videos. It’s not hard to work out
Thanks for the good content! You kick ass!
That video was awesome, I was smiling and singing the whole video
Love your shirt!
I really liked this video very fun and light hearted
Wow... I'm officially old enough to witness a generation that doesn't know the music I grew up on. That's crazy
How old are you?
@@SlimKim3 old enough to know lol
That was a fun video plz do more of these
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 great show
I love how you reacted to the one girl's singin of whatta man 😂 she killed that
I remember running through my daddy's record collection in the 80s as a kid, fucking jamming! He and my mommy made sure I knew about all about '60s, '70s music.
If gen Z don't know shit about our music? It's our fault, seeing as gen X gave birth and raised Gen Z.
The 90's was my era of hip hop and it will always stand the test of time. These gen z kids were all really good. Thx for the reaction Stevie.🔥🔥
Love the T shirt again 😂😂😂
These were some pretty easy to get as they were popular songs but still, I loved hearing all of them, definitely a throwback, homie in the black. The new most of them is a G, I figured most of them would know salt n pepa
Fun fact : It got turned down because the others didn't think they could think of something for the chorus beat....and look how iconic House of Pain made that chorus 🍀
It landed in good hands.
Legendary chorus!
Fun fact: produced by DJ muggs from Cypress Hill, he also produced Check Yoself for Ice Cube, they all was cliqued up for a bit until a little spat between Cube and Cypress Hill due to some asshattery around the music Throw Your Hood in the Air... reportedly the beef was squashed a while back.
What a massive chorus GANGSTAS PARADISE,COOLIO!!Shit stayed in my head forever!!Damn, wtf did the time go!?
I would expand your comments about the impact of 90's hip-hop/rap to INCLUDE things from the mid-late 80's as well. SO, roughly around 85-2000 was possibly the most impactful and in-depth period of Hip-Hop/Rap to date. So many artists, so many classics, so many cultural impacting tracks, not to mention a "sound" that still continues to draw new audiences to this day.
Faaaacts!!!! 💯
not just hip hop but music in general, movies, sports etc. that period was the peak of mankind
@@Mr.v 😭😭😭
Do more of these please..!
Although a lot of them are a bit old, it is still entertaining.
You may get stumped too 😅
i feel so old, i been watching these kids do reactions since they was little bruh. damn i bummed myself out lol
Well that went a whole lot better than I was expecting!
I'm surprised they did not do Jump from Kris Kross since that was a pretty big hit back in the 90s.
Man yo opening intro always hit so hard with the sound playing through some subs lol
THAT WAS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
“All is not lost” I guess 😂😂😂😂😂much love ❤️
Love your content man
Keep em comin Steve
A game I love playing with a group of people is SongPop. It’s on switch, Apple Store and I assume Google store (I have iPhone) guessing the song and or artist is a lot of fun, even if it’s a genre you don’t really know
My gen z son would do well with this. I made sure of that!
That was fun to watch
Bro on Everything I love I asked for a Salt N Peppa cd for Christmas because they were so beautiful 😂😂 I was like 8 years old when it dropped. I’ve been on Hip Hop since I was 5 years old listening to Bloods and Crips bangin on Wax with the bloods crossed out! And having to scratch off Real Muthapkin G’s on Eazy E’s album. I love Hip Hop hands down
Stevie sure does love the zoom in feature on his edits
The ice cube question at the end is definitely around the era when DJ muggs was producing and cypruss hill was cool with cube
90s alternative rock prob my fav as well. When it comes to era 90s-2000s was by far the best. This shit now is crazy
Gangstas paradise from the movie Dangerous Minds
Wow...that shocked the shit outta me forreal.
I fukkin love you dude. You are super fair and I love it.
Group 🤔 got me ,immediately after I heard that Snoop Dogg & Ice Cube were Eliminated🗣✂️
Lol yeah they have way more access than by trying to catch it on the radio and put it on a cassette!!
90s definitely was the best for music, movies, and pretty much our peak as humans.
90s and early 2000s is an end of a music era. Great music across all genres
6:40 that song was covered by Falling In Reverse, that's where I first heard it. Then I went and watched the original one.
stevie since your reacting to Gen Z you need to check out there reaction on East coast vs West coast and which coast they choose. They also have a reaction on the biggest hip hop fueds. So go check those ones out
the first music i ever remember hearing as a kid was too short- born to mack LMAOO
Forgot the name of the movie DU was featured in
I'd say my 2007 born son knows alot. I rarely suprise him with any song I hit on, which sometimes is a bit depressing for me 😂 Classics he knows like basics. We're from south Finland.
Good video, but the audio seemed low after your intro.
Seeing that clip of Xs song has me in my feelings cause I miss when he was alive an dropping music cause bro brought NY with him on a 4wheeler/bike ride
Honestly jump around. Shocked me, I thought everybody would have known that, that was one of the few OG party songs and I remember having it play at school
Jaxon has been on this channel for years and is always invited to the cookout.
When my boy hit it with the "what!" "What!" "What!" I was like damn yep that's it some or you can be saved.
KRS-One da TEACHA is still making music incredible!
Yo Stevie, hoping to see you get back on that Tech N9ne. He just dropped new music recently, new album at the end of the month. “Tell Everyone” is a 🔥🔥🔥 track
Stevie love the hummin . Haha
"R&B, Hip Hop, errythang!" I cracked up, I know you didn't mean it like that, but it reminds me of a scene in the Blues Brothers movie "What kind of music do you usually have here?", "Oh! We got both kinds, we got country and western."
1:00 facts not just cus I grew up during that time but it was 🔥
we are getting old is the biggest thing i realize, wow
20 years ago +
The one kid knew all that shit!!! Good job homie!! 👏👏👏
I did get a sense there was chosen exactly dancers/singer and overall teens who are into music. I don't know if it would go this well with taking just randoms
When they say Gen Z it depends cause it starts at 1997-2012 and I was born 2001 and I know all these songs but it also depends what genre of music they like too, if people who don’t hip hop at all then they won’t know it.
California in general does a much better job of staying close to their regional West Coast hip hop roots. A lot of these songs still stay in rotation on podcasts and radio stations..
When I was growing up I knew media & culture from generations before me & never understood why adults always assumed I didn't know anything but my own time. I feel like it's the same with every gen.
I got all this ish on cassette
Old but Gold 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤
Get money was actually a Junior Mafia song featuring BIG.
Can we get a reverse diagnosis going?
They have great content I love the REACT channel lol
stevie, i love ur video, but u need too locked in on some hip hop sample videos bro, it is awesome
dude Wu Tang forever my mom even rocked that album in her 84 t top Camaro
