Bus lanes are just for them to drive in, so they can avoid traffic, be on schedule and incentivize people using public transport as they don't get stuck in traffic.
Sometimes bus lanes can be used by normal traffic outside peak hours, or for overtaking etc.

Yep! Here in the UK you often see bus lanes totally empty even though its the time of day when normal traffic is allowed to use it, because people are scared to get fined if they use the bus lane hehe. But yes usually bus lanes are for buses and emergency vehicles only! And you don't need to use hazard lights (flashers) when stopped unless you've broken down.

Fun fact for Berlin: maybe you noticed but there are a lot of blue or sometimes pink pipes running true Berlin. They're used to pump the groundwater from the soil at construction sites.
Berlin used to have a lot of swamp land and therefore the ground is very high in water content, which in turn makes it softer and more difficult to build on. That's also why you don't really see any skyscrapers in Berlin.
Wherever there's a construction zone close to the centre you'll be seeing those pipes. Almost look some art installation though.

The rain effects on the windshield is incredible. Also, in Europe the bus lane is for the busses to drive in, not just pull over in if that makes sense. Firstly, so they dont hog up traffic when stopped, secondly so they can drive past the traffic in the main lanes. In Norway you also gotta yield for busses coming out of bus stops and bus lanes if the speed limit is 60kmh or under, not sure if thats how it is in Germany tho... Might be the same. Busses here also do go out of drive when stopped, on some busses the doors wont even open if its still in gear.

More Jeff! Btw Europecar is car rental company.. and you use your hazzards when you stop at a busstop. Here in the Netherlands, they only use the right turning flash on while they are at a stop. And when the bus is leaving, they use the left flashing lights and than the traffic must give the bus priority for getting into traffic.

Yeah the bus lane is bias to buses but irl you get people who just drive along it bc they’re dickhead it usually says bus stop in many European countries (of course not always in English) that’s where it’s a specialised stop and will be marked on the road I believe you can get fined or a ticket if your caught parking in it or stopping for a certain period of time

There are real companies because as a representation of a real-life place, having a Burger King where there is actually a Burger King isn't a violation of Trademark rules. There are a lot of misconceptions about Trademark and this idea that you cannot use logos or names of real companies in a commercial product, which isn't true. This is a perfect example of a completely legal and logic use of trademarks in a commercial product. It's similar to how a TV show or Movie can film on location with a McDonalds or Walmart in the background.

Especially the areas around Hauptbahnhof, Unter den Linden, Lustgarten (where the huge Berliner Dom church is near end of the route) and Alexanderplatz (the terminus with the TV tower). Europcar is a vehicle rental company.
The red trash what you told on the sidewalk is a line for bicycles.
When someone in Germany is a bus line on the road the public buses in Taxis (cabs) are using this line.
I never see a bus driver take the transmission out of drive.
You follow the German road system perfectly
    .
And you try to talk German for the name of the bus stop was awesome.👍🏻
Great video ! Everyone can see how you enjoy the game
Stay safe and have a nice weekend.

@SimpleSim trucker I feel that. I wish there was more decent train sims then train simulator 2020. I wish there was more stuff like this as it's very relaxing to drive. Although it would be very cool to play as a cat or dog.

And yes, you are allowed to drive in the bus lane. Normal traffic is‘nt. Police and ambulance are using it sometimes when there is a traffic jam.

Hey. I'm a bendy bus driver from Norway. We drive similar buses in Oslo where I'm from. We definitely do not remove from drive and put on the hand brake, though someone use the hand brake during longer stops (e.g. waiting for a green light on a long red), but still leaving the bus in drive. Also in Norway at least we don't use the hazard lights while on a bus stop. We only indicate to the right. Last thing: when turning with a bendy bus, you can turn as son as the "bendy" part has passed the the curd. Before that you should actually keep a more or less straight line, then make a harder turn, especially in those tight corners you made.

Wow, this game has got me hooked on getting, definitely wanna see more routes and drives using the other weather just to see it for myself before I think about buying. But seeing Berlin from a 1:1 scale in a Simulator... let me find the "Shut Up and Take My Money" gif right quick. Very nice run Jeff, and yes it has been quite awhile since Bus Sim has been on the channel. When I seen this game beforehand I thought that it was gonna be another Bus Sim 18 type game, this video proves that The Bus ain't playing around, it means business. I'm sold nonetheless though.

I can only really speak for the UK, but I think it might apply to all if not at least a majority of the rest of Europe too, You don't need to put hazard lights on when stopped at a bus stop. Just indicate that you're stopping next to the kerb then either cancel it or leave it on, doesn't matter, and then you just indicate when you're pulling off again. Competent drivers will know to drive around.

Do you know who I'm surprised hasn't tried to join the bus sim market yet, SCS, if anyone can put together a truly immersive all-inclusive bus sim it would be them. That being said, the little details on this are impressive, the rain drops falling down the window, the bus rattles, could be my replacement to OMSI, so long as they keep adding more stuff!

in Italy bus lanes are just for Bus and taxi to drive in, to avoid traffic and and often allow shortcuts compared to the normal roadway, they can also be used by police and emergency services too of course

Hi Jeff! Some tips on driving European buses!
    1. Bus lanes are there to drive at any time, they are used to pass regular traffic, which is congested rather often. So, drive in them if they’re there, they’re not only for buses which stop along the lane.
    2. About the “flashers”, as you name them (so American lol :)), usually, drivers only turn on the right side blinker, and only use the emergency blinkers when they’re needed for their purpose (stopped on irregular places.
Great video! I’ll be back for the next one for sure :)

Bus lanes are created for buses, so they can bypass other traffic. I visited Berlin a few years ago and it's a beautiful city. The big tower near the end of the video is the televisiontower from Berlin. A kirche is German for church. Aldi & Lidl are supermarkets that you can find in a lot of European countries.

In the UK at least we use the bus lanes always, buses, taxis etc are permitted to use them at all times, and there are signs for certain times of the day that cars can also use them to reduce congestion and traffic in busy areas. The idea behind the buses having their own lanes is to ensure the buses arrive to their stops on time seen as we're fairly strict with that kinda stuff and have bus schedules displayed at each stop which are very specific times and at least where I live there is a bus to the stops every 7 minutes. Happy to give you any other info with UK roads which generally are fairly similar to German roads

If you are operating a kneeling bus, this is usually set to auto so when you stop, the P Brake is set, and the door is open, it will drop. It will only drop when the bus is stopped and the P Brake is applied. Yes the P Brake should be applied when loading and unloading passengers (In AZ and PA they are required to set the brake and FMC states School Busses must always set the brake).

Across Europe bus lanes are for driving in, it's basically an express lane when traffic is busy, it works kinda like those 2+ people lanes I've seen in the US, as long as you meet the criteria you can use the lane anytime, if another bus behind you wasn't stopping at the same stop they would just move into the normal lane and move back over if you were occupying a stop within the bus lane. The purpose really is to encourage public transport usage, coz it's meant to be a faster method. It's suppose to be how bus lanes are meant to be used in NY, but from what I've heard from NY IRL streamers, the bus drivers only use them when normal lanes are blocked, which kinda defeats the whole purpose of having dedicated bus lanes, unnecessary lane changes, and adding congestion to normal lanes.
TML need to reduce the lighting on the game, everything seems way too blown out to me, particularly when it's not raining, kinda removes the realism a bit for me.
That's typical European city road systems, 2 lanes suddenly going into 1 active lane and 1 parking, if you're not a regular in that particular city it will always catch you out, Manchester in UK always catches me out with it. It's also comon for road markings to disappear, it's meant to calm (slow traffic) when done deliberately.
That right turn and bus lane after it around 26 mins in the video, what you would do is - be in the 2nd lane - for straight on, then move over to the bus lane after the lights, treat it like you're in a car for straight on, you'd avoid the turning lane then move over.
With narrow lanes, it's legal to straddle both lanes; which you might have to do anyway for some tight right turns.
Taking the vehicle out of drive when stationary depends really on how long you're stopped for, at lights you probably wouldn't, unless it's backed up, and obviously when people are boarding and debarking, for safety reasons. The main reason you'd take an automatic out of drive is to prevent the transmission/clutch over heating during general driving use if stopped for a long time.
50kph or 30mph really isn't that fast, and standard across most of Europe in towns and cities, it's basically the equivalent to the US' 25 mph limit, which when I drove in the US felt way too slow on many roads, and it's not a problem as a pedestrian. Some really busy areas or school zones especially the limit can be reduced to 20 mph.
This 1:1 map looks amazing though, gonna be great to drive a vehicle in effectively real time, and how cool is it gonna be if multiplayer actually happens.

Yeah, the problem with New York is that during morning and afternoon rush hour trucks are doing their deliveries and park in the bus lanes since most of the streets with bus lanes are in commercial areas with stores all alongside the street. So that one truck that might need to deliver to the local deli ends up blocking the bus lane and making the bus have to lane change out of it. Quite inefficient.

I'm a transit driver in Philadelphia and we put the bus in park. We have air suspension on the right side suspension to lower for people who have trouble stepping up and down (called "kneeling"), and in order to enable it we have to be in park. As for bus lanes we only drive into them when stopping, at least that's procedure (in my city).
