When you throw a curling bomb, your inkling or octoling will fist pump as it explodes, but only if you haven't moved after throwing it. What's cool is that you can rotate the camera to see the fist pump and a happy face.
On that note, the Splashdown and Triple Splashdown also have an ending animation if you don't move. Your character keeps their fist on the floor and then slowly gets up. You can also turn the camera while it's happening.
Back when splatoon 2 launched the introduction dialogue to the hub said something like "grizzco seems kind of fishy. I'd think twice about going there" so I just didn't play salmon run for like a year
here's a kinda sad one: Sometime last year, I found out you could get on top of the shell out machine in the lobby by dropping down from the top floor. It was such a fun way to squid party with my teammates and show off that that was a place that you could go (especially since some people didn't know you had to drop down from above and tried to find some way to get there from below). I enjoyed this new discovery for maybe a month, until it was time for a splatfest and the conch shell sign stopped you from being able to stand there. Once the sign was gone, I tried get back up only to find out that THEY PATCHED IT OUT??!! For one that still exists in the game: I only recently learned that you can tell people left your team before the game shows you in the top left - if one of your teammates doesn't show up as a hologram, they probably aren't in the room with you anymore. There were so many times when I was like, "there's teammate A and there's teammate B, where is the third guy?" and then not making the connection when they left the room 10 seconds later.
When you use a charger (at least in Splatoon 1) the sound of your opponent getting splatted isn't coming from an inkling. It's an audio file for the charger specifically so you can hear when you hit someone from far away. You can hear the Woomy splatted sound baked into the end of the sfx track named Splat Charger on the Splatune CD.
When the Tri-Stringer was first shown, I didn’t really like it because I thought a basic bow wasn't very Splatoony. But then I realized that it's made from a fishing rod, and the "arrows" are frozen ink popsicles that "pop" to deal damage. So that's actually the most Splatoon thing I've ever seen and I main stringers now🥰
I may or may not have a Wahoo world timer moment on my twitter/X account... let me quote it here. "Did you know? Battering Lento will actually try to target and break a Wave breaker special that you put down. I only found this out like 5 minutes ago on my Luna blaster Side Order run." Whoopsie.
Took me a few months of Splatoon 3 when I first got it days after release. (I started late in S2, so I was still new) When you use your special, it automatically refills your ink tank entirely. Doesn’t matter which special or mode you’re in. Story mode, Anarchy, Salmon Run, or DLCs, it’s always been that way apparently. It’s definitely helped me on many occasions. 😅
1:00 wow, if i had a nickel for every time a humanoid cepholapod had to enter a kitchen-centric machine to go somewhere, I'd have two nickels. not a lot, but weird that it happened twice, right?
It took me until my sister pointed it out to me about a month ago to realize the pun in Ska-Blam’s naming. To be fair, that very same sister played this game for A WHOLE YEAR and didn’t know the maps were named after fish and sea creatures
You can squid roll from play to mini pole on barnacle rw. Edit: the super jump is actually based on your form. Because of the transformation from squid to kid, it’s faster when you’re already a squid.
I'm not sure if many people know this, but after you kill a mudmouth in salmon run, a little salmonid jumps out from the top and falls right back down to the remains of the mudmouth. Took me almost 2 years to find this out...
Yep, Mudmouths are actually just regular salmonids that got covered in gunk and trash while swimming through the sewers. However, I did not know you could see said salmonid! I'll have to check that out!

this is probably more obscure but i didnt realise until recently that sashimori, one of the bands, has a mascot thats literally just a ball of wasabi named Wasabi. it was designed by the band's drummer
I did know a lot of these things *by now*, but instead of just bragging, I'll share my big one from 2015: it took me months to realize that there is a special meter on screen. When I first started playing Splatoon I would just press in my right stick whenever I wanted my kraken, and just hoped it was ready. I still struggle with indicators like glowing tentacles and the ink tank being empty, which change the character model. I still don't know whether or not glowing tentacles are visible on other players during matches. I call it "UI blindness"
I think 99% of these "facts Victoria didn’t know" are pretty much expected to be general knowledge among the core Splatoon fanbase, but Im willing to be proven wrong.

The gibberish Shiver always says at the start of the splatcast sounds like "get the crowd moving" to me, which really fits them announcing battle stages
Since I skipped Splatoon 2, I honestly keep forgetting the dodge rolls on the Dualies are even a thing. And I learned this one because of another game, the .52 Gal is based on a grenade launcher. There's a real life weapon that's shorthanded to the "Cal". (Learned that cause of Persona 5 of all games)

7:04 2 years ago I learned that inkling was a real word while reading a dialogue in a book named A Wrinkle In Time. It was a conversation between two characters and suddenly one says "Not even an inkling" and then I had to search for the definition.
4:11 I also found out not TOO long ago that this also applies to your opponents, but only if your ink is still on them. Once they fully heal their icon will disappear from the map Oh and you can see your opponent's squid beakons on the map (Just now realized that it's spelled "BEAKon" because some squids have beaks...)
Thanks for these amazing fun facts!!!!! They are nice detail that make me love Splatoon 3 even more now!!!! Also, Happy 4th Of July to you VicVillion!!!!
You know the stairs up to the battle tower in the splat 3 plaza? If you manage to hit it just right you can jump from the stair railing in the middle to the cement block thing on top. (This isn't the only jump though, there are some in the maps as well that I have made on accident)
8:32 I did a recording of my super jump holding and not holding ZL, in and not in my own ink, and then checked the frames in Premiere Pro, doesn't seem to have the "faster" jumping effect as mentioned. Perhaps there are other factors involved, e.g., the time of pressinig X and then down arrow quickly.
in side order when you're in a vending machine level pearl can say " i already saw that vending machine somewhere but i can't remember where?" (its in the french dialogue but im sure its in englsh too) she says that because the purple vending machine is the same as the ones in inkopolis plaza under the squid sisters studio but in side order the drinks are white
I knew all of that. But did you know that if you're on the map, and you press the arrow associated with a teammate, it'll tell them you're about to superjump to them? It makes like a little dinging bell noise and pops your name up on their screen. That way they don't put you in a terrible superjump spot.
You see the way to play .96 gal is to perform a tap fire similar to squeezer. If it's slow enough (like 1/4th of a second between taps), the shots always travel straight since the bloom gets reset.

Not exactly a wahoo timer moment, but just a cool fact i have a feeling not a lot of people know, the names of the enemies in side order are all musical techniques. For example, springing spiccato. It took me until THIS YEAR to find out in 1 that when you throw a splat bomb into the basketball hoop in the weapon test area it has a little visual effect and your inkling says one of the booyah voice clips
I did not know until very recently that squid beacons hide your landing spot as if you were using s1 stealth jump. The effect ends as soon as the beacon is destroyed and I always broke them quick so I just didn't figure it out.
I dunno if anyone knows this, but here we go: So its a fact that the winner of last splatfests gets to help the agent in the next game the most But I noticed that Callie was also on team chaos and got to help agent 3 by giving the power eggs Also, Im shocked to see this many people not knowing the timer thing, its right in the stage dialoque :D
For the Eeltail spawn bridge, idk who, but someone made a short youtube video that was going to analyse (or analyze) the release date trailer for Splatoon 3 (how has it been 2 years already), but instead the whole time they focused on the grate bridge at spawn for the whole 30 seconds (except for the part where they say like thanks for watching and all that).
I learned that in order to reload, the ink canister on the weapons are removed, filled with ink, and reattached to the weapon. Example being the twist off cap on the splattershot What's going on in gameplay is not the same as in universe
Up until the end of splatoon 2 story mode me and my dad were struggling with dj octavio and that’s because we had no idea you could upgrade your weapons 💀
I didn’t know that the second kit of a weapon was just its sub and special being different, I thought it was like a better weapon but I was shocked when I found out after playing for like a month.

the final boss in side order can actually be seen in splatoon 2's square nearby the octo expansion entrance in little posters on the adjacent wall.
It took me until THIS YEAR to find out in 1 that when you throw a splat bomb into the basketball hoop in the weapon test area it has a little visual effect and your inkling says one of the booyah voice clips
I always knew there was a timer I just ignored it bc I only spawn camp
8:23 you dont save time when you're in ink, you just have to be in squid form ^^
As a Hydra main, I am so ashamed that I didn’t know splattling was splat Gatling. But yes, I was aware of it being a fire hydrant.
Ok the Clams thing got me. I didn't know they were only highlighted when they are your ink color.
THE SBLAST HAS A LASER WHAT!?!??!?!?!
For me, I didn't that with the Stringer & the REEF-LUX, you can hold your shot when you're in squid form, like Chargers.
I did not know until very recently that squid beacons hide your landing spot as if you were using s1 stealth jump. The effect ends as soon as the beacon is destroyed and I always broke them quick so I just didn't figure it out.
Thank you for these info!
I dunno if anyone knows this, but here we go:
So its a fact that the winner of last splatfests gets to help the agent in the next game the most
But I noticed that Callie was also on team chaos and got to help agent 3 by giving the power eggs
Also, Im shocked to see this many people not knowing the timer thing, its right in the stage dialoque :D
Ah yes, i noticed that timer the other day, it shows when someone is splatted and respawned
I learned that in order to reload, the ink canister on the weapons are removed, filled with ink, and reattached to the weapon.
Example being the twist off cap on the splattershot
What's going on in gameplay is not the same as in universe
Up until the end of splatoon 2 story mode me and my dad were struggling with dj octavio and that’s because we had no idea you could upgrade your weapons 💀
I honestly thought this was going to be another one of your funny joke videos. But you had some cool facts even I didn’t know. Nice going Vic
I didn’t know that the second kit of a weapon was just its sub and special being different, I thought it was like a better weapon but I was shocked when I found out after playing for like a month.
In a similar note to the potential InkJet pun. A few months back I realized CrabTank could also be a pun like a Tank (aquarium) of crabs. 🤔
