I asked you what your Wahoo Timer moments have been - times where YOU didnt know something... but someone else did when you found out. Some of them are obvious, but some are a bit obscure!! I DIDNT KNOW ALL OF THESE.

When you throw a curling bomb, your inkling or octoling will fist pump as it explodes, but only if you haven't moved after throwing it. What's cool is that you can rotate the camera to see the fist pump and a happy face.

It wasn’t mentioned in this video but I said it took me so long to realize that the three king salmonids reflect the deep cut idols… shark with blue hair, eel with yellow hair, big boy with red hair… I feel like that’s not talked about a lot lol

here's a kinda sad one:
Sometime last year, I found out you could get on top of the shell out machine in the lobby by dropping down from the top floor. It was such a fun way to squid party with my teammates and show off that that was a place that you could go (especially since some people didn't know you had to drop down from above and tried to find some way to get there from below).
I enjoyed this new discovery for maybe a month, until it was time for a splatfest and the conch shell sign stopped you from being able to stand there. Once the sign was gone, I tried get back up only to find out that THEY PATCHED IT OUT??!!
For one that still exists in the game: I only recently learned that you can tell people left your team before the game shows you in the top left - if one of your teammates doesn't show up as a hologram, they probably aren't in the room with you anymore. There were so many times when I was like, "there's teammate A and there's teammate B, where is the third guy?" and then not making the connection when they left the room 10 seconds later.
I DIDNT KNOW THEY REMOVED IT. THATS SO SAD…… if I can make myself get on there I’ll let you knoow
guys im gonna be real, i didn't know eeltail alley and undertow spillway were different maps. i always used to think of them as eeltail alley & eel tail alley 2!!!!!! 😭

I'm not sure if many people know this, but after you kill a mudmouth in salmon run, a little salmonid jumps out from the top and falls right back down to the remains of the mudmouth.
Took me almost 2 years to find this out...
This is because this salmonoid IS the mudmouth, they are not sludge monsters, but actual salmonoids
I think 99% of these "facts Victoria didn’t know" are pretty much expected to be general knowledge among the core Splatoon fanbase, but Im willing to be proven wrong.

Back when splatoon 2 launched the introduction dialogue to the hub said something like "grizzco seems kind of fishy. I'd think twice about going there" so I just didn't play salmon run for like a year
It took me until my sister pointed it out to me about a month ago to realize the pun in Ska-Blam’s naming.
To be fair, that very same sister played this game for A WHOLE YEAR and didn’t know the maps were named after fish and sea creatures
Back in S2 for a lot of players: Startup rng, the first few shots of a shooter are more accurate before decreasing to its full spread. It has always been a mechanic and I'm sure a lot of people unconsciously knew its existance on shooters but it was during the patch they made it better that a lot of people openly realized it was a proper mechanic in splatoon.
You can squid roll from play to mini pole on barnacle rw.
Edit: the super jump is actually based on your form. Because of the transformation from squid to kid, it’s faster when you’re already a squid.
For the longest time I didn't realize that the lifesaver on your back in Salmon Run is actually an ink tank 😭

When the Tri-Stringer was first shown, I didn’t really like it because I thought a basic bow wasn't very Splatoony. But then I realized that it's made from a fishing rod, and the "arrows" are frozen ink popsicles that "pop" to deal damage. So that's actually the most Splatoon thing I've ever seen and I main stringers now🥰
4:53 GARFIELD SPEAK TO ME
When you use a charger (at least in Splatoon 1) the sound of your opponent getting splatted isn't coming from an inkling. It's an audio file for the charger specifically so you can hear when you hit someone from far away.
You can hear the Woomy splatted sound baked into the end of the sfx track named Splat Charger on the Splatune CD.
this is probably more obscure but i didnt realise until recently that sashimori, one of the bands, has a mascot thats literally just a ball of wasabi named Wasabi. it was designed by the band's drummer
My knee jerk reaction whenever someone mentions the Wahoo World timer: Did you know Wavebreaker has contact damage?
(I first found out playing CJr. when it first came out and accidentally threw a Wavebreaker onto a Dapples with low health, splating them.)

The secret that I didn't realize is that if you go down into the area that has two crash patches in each corner there's a creepy noise if you go near the two patches of grass

You know that the wahoo world bridge moves in or out every 30 seconds? Much more useful than having to go near the timer.
Since I skipped Splatoon 2, I honestly keep forgetting the dodge rolls on the Dualies are even a thing. And I learned this one because of another game, the .52 Gal is based on a grenade launcher. There's a real life weapon that's shorthanded to the "Cal". (Learned that cause of Persona 5 of all games)
Cal is shorthand for caliber/calibre, which refers to the diameter of a gun barrel

7:04 2 years ago I learned that inkling was a real word while reading a dialogue in a book named A Wrinkle In Time. It was a conversation between two characters and suddenly one says "Not even an inkling" and then I had to search for the definition.
I didn't know the Wellstring was based on a well until people on Twitter pointed it out...... oops
I only realized recently that the torpedo actually shoots out mini bombs when it explodes. I’ve always thought that the secondary explosion was just delayed.
Did you know the triumvirate wave badge is seen on the salmon run level up bar background and a bunch of salmon run maps, it also references the deep cut logo which might be a hint to final fest big big run
Pretty Much every weapon in Splatoon is based off of something, like glooga dualies being glue guns, the squeezer being a champagne bottle, the splatana wiper being a windshield wiper, etc.

It took me around 2-3 years of maining dualies to learn that they have a Turret mode. I NEVER KNEW THIS SOMEHOW. 😭I'm not the brightest fish in the sea

Fun fact: there is a green wavelike overlay in salmon run that shows up before a wave that you the height of the tide. The higher the wave overlay the higher the tide.
You know the stairs up to the battle tower in the splat 3 plaza? If you manage to hit it just right you can jump from the stair railing in the middle to the cement block thing on top. (This isn't the only jump though, there are some in the maps as well that I have made on accident)
It took me until I started playing Splatoon 3 that I realised branded weapons had the same properties like fire rate/distance as the regular version of that weapon, just with different subs and specials 😂😭
Less of an actual Splatoon realization, but still related: about 6 months ago I realized that the one race theme from fall guys (fall n roll) actually uses the one octarian burp instrument (electro tuvan) thing used in a lot of the Turquoise October music! (Found at the 0:41 second mark in the song) It’s not used in any other song in the game. it’s really muffled out by other instruments too, which leads me to believe it was actually an intentional inclusion 🤣
I never knew that ink resistance makes you move faster on enemy ink instead of protecting you from enemy ink like from splatoon 1😔

I did know a lot of these things *by now*, but instead of just bragging, I'll share my big one from 2015: it took me months to realize that there is a special meter on screen. When I first started playing Splatoon I would just press in my right stick whenever I wanted my kraken, and just hoped it was ready. I still struggle with indicators like glowing tentacles and the ink tank being empty, which change the character model. I still don't know whether or not glowing tentacles are visible on other players during matches. I call it "UI blindness"
I still remember the shock when I realized the timer in ranked starts to lose its color when you go into Overtime, as a way of indicating how much OT is left.
It was only a thing starting in Splatoon 3! 🥹 in s2 we just had to guess
I remember we needed the definition of inkling in class one time so everyone googled it and they finnialy understood what the silly game about squids and octopie was about
8:32 I did a recording of my super jump holding and not holding ZL, in and not in my own ink, and then checked the frames in Premiere Pro, doesn't seem to have the "faster" jumping effect as mentioned. Perhaps there are other factors involved, e.g., the time of pressinig X and then down arrow quickly.
I somehow already knew all of them.
Some of you realy need to look at menus, buton prompts or pratice in the training area or in recon somtimes cause i would be ashamed of myself.

I did not know until very recently that squid beacons hide your landing spot as if you were using s1 stealth jump. The effect ends as soon as the beacon is destroyed and I always broke them quick so I just didn't figure it out.
For me ITS Just little Details Like how the squids blink and how the ink Sticks To your Shows after you walked through IT and leaves Footprints. Also, the egg throw has a small 100 damage hitbox on the inkling

I learned that in order to reload, the ink canister on the weapons are removed, filled with ink, and reattached to the weapon.
Example being the twist off cap on the splattershot

For the Eeltail spawn bridge, idk who, but someone made a short youtube video that was going to analyse (or analyze) the release date trailer for Splatoon 3 (how has it been 2 years already), but instead the whole time they focused on the grate bridge at spawn for the whole 30 seconds (except for the part where they say like thanks for watching and all that).
4:11 I also found out not TOO long ago that this also applies to your opponents, but only if your ink is still on them. Once they fully heal their icon will disappear from the map
Oh and you can see your opponent's squid beakons on the map (Just now realized that it's spelled "BEAKon" because some squids have beaks...)
