    No matter how long you been doing roll off these kind of things can happen to anybody especially when you get too comfortable you have to pay attention at all times

    • @elpmasnet
      @elpmasnet 2 роки тому +6

      Correct you pay attention at all times and most importantly if you find a box ready to flip you have to have the ability to get from under it I keep saying if you’re gonna do this type of work you have to have the ability to solve problems as they arise if you don’t have that ability you don’t need to be doing that type of work I find nothing funny about what I’m looking at because Somebody can die if they’re not careful

    • @emiliotamayo3256
      @emiliotamayo3256 Рік тому +1

      Of course you have to pay attention all the time you can actually correct any problems before they arise. Even when you see your container doing something phoney when it is going up the rails you can correct it.

      That's why I don't answer my phone or listen to the radio when I am picking up a container

    Guy I used to work with at another job died today running a roll off. Sounds like the bin fell on him. I hauled gas for a while. Company I worked for had a thing called "Stop, think, and act".
    Stop long enough to think about what you’re about to do
    Think about how you’re going to do it. Is it the safest way? If not, how can you do it better?
    Act in the safest way possible.
    Make it home every day. Be safe!

    I had something similar happen at landfill. Uneven ground. Was half way up the hoist and halfway on rail.
    Another roll off truck back against the box to kerp it from falling over. And a frontloader lifted it so i could get it back on rails

    It's simple, have the loader hold the dumpster with his bucket as you roll off from under it

    I’ve been running all sorts of heavy equipment for 20 years now. To include 53’ dry box. Buddy and I just started a 15-20 hook&go business locally. I’ll get to this point eventually (moving larger containers) but I’m hoping I should transition fine giving my experience. Just trying to educate myself on what to look out for.

      Congratulations on the new business, as a driver trainer the most important thing I teach everyone is TO TAKE YOUR TIME! The speed will come with experience. I prefer to teach on the outside controls first to get the big picture and see everything of picking up a box. I know most companies don't allow an extended period of time for training and just want you too be a number and start making money for them, but it just sets alot of people up for failure.

    • @35057
      @35057 3 роки тому +2

      @@BoredGuyWithACamera thank you. Yeah I’m not worried about speed. I get things done as long as it takes me. I don’t mess around in CMVs. (Even tho the 20 isn’t technically, but it’s heavy and larger) but I’m comfortable with PTO and controls. I’ve been running equipment and PTO trucks for a while. To include dump trucks, sanders and etc. plows, excavation equipment, cranes. That stuff doesn’t bother me. Watch overhead clearance also. Yeah can’t rush green people w this stuff. It’s definitely a comfort level that takes time. We have green people often at work that run huge snow equipment and we see plenty of damage. Mostly from kids that say they’re comfortable when they don’t pay attention. And mostly just don’t know what they’re doing.

    You think this is bad! We had a dumb sh#t leave his rack up and drive through a garage door. I beam came down on the auto tarper, ripped down the front of the building. He's lucky to be alive. Estimated damage to the truck and building $250,000 USD. and no he longer has a job. And this one is from dumping with the door open but not chained properly. I've had to repair more than a few. PS should of added the truck is 3 months old.

    There’s absolutely nothing funny about what we’re looking at that’s a serious situation for most guys are not made to do this type of work I’ve had a box nearly flipped on me on three occasions and all three occasions I got from under it without having to flip the box if you’re going to be a Roll Off driver your number one goal is to solve problems if you ain’t got the ability to solve an issue when you come across it you do not need to be doing that type of work that’s just straight fax
